V1 is still the slider set we are using!!!!

I also am thinking through the card slider modifier system and do we only use it on the road? Stick with our standard sliders settings for all home games?

    What do you guys think?

I love it...it's fun and add's a total layer of unpredictability....but I feel at home...I should have my home park friendly confines and be even steven in that regard?

I don't know.....I am on the road right now and playing our series finale in Cleveland today.....but want some community feedback and thoughts on that aspect....I am conflicted.

On a personal note...it was my son's 20th birthday yesterday and he was in Virginia on a road trip playing a conference series (they are all conference games from here on out).

You could not have written a better script:

They had a strong 10-5 series opening win on Saturday afternoon. Sword Jr starting in CF and moved from the 2 hole to the leadoff spot for the first time since he became an everyday player several weeks ago. He looked quite comfortable out in CF making many good plays in the gaps and again showing his coaches and teammates his versatility.

Then yesterday the team had a double header on his 20th birthday. The first game, first batter launches a bomb straight away CF and the kid tracked it down and made a ridiculous catch against the CF walk to take away at a minimum a lead off double, potential triple. The teams would go back and forth with us holding a 10-9 lead heading into the bottom of the 9th.

Well due to some Pinch runner and pinch hitter decisions in the top half of inning 9 my son was slid over to RF for the bottom half of the 9th.

Bases loaded, 2 outs another ball is launched to straight away CF but the CF (god bless
Him my son felt sick for him as that was one of his roommates on this road trip) stumbled twice trying to track it after taking a fatal step forward on contact and the ball ultimately sailed over his head for a walk off win for the home team.

    11-10

The third and decisive rubber match saw my son moved back to his primary position at SS after the junior who played their in the first game of the double header made 4 errors and 2 of them were very costly and ultimately made a difference in the final score. Physical errors are gonna happen at all levels….but to have 4 and cost you 2 runs is tough (in conference play) and that will lead you to the bench sometimes.

My son led of the game with a mammoth shot to CF that hit the warning track and bounced over the wall for an automatic double. He would set the tone for the rest of this game.

Fast forward to the top of the 4th we held a 4-3 lead with two outs and none on. He would take the first two pitches for balls. Sitting on a 2-0 pitch and god as my witness I turned to my wife and father inlaw and said this is a great count for him to launch his first collegiate HR on his birthday.

    And he did just that!!!!!

A no doubter way over the LF wall!!!

    But wait there is more!!!

Top of the 8th we held a 7-4 lead, again 2 outs and no one on the first pitch he sees a 90 plus fastball he hits an absolute laser line drive that just kept rising and gooooooone!!!! His second HR of the day.

We were screaming with joy in our living room….the elation was real.

Bottom of the 9th….8-4 lead, bases loaded, 2 outs.

A screaming ground ball up the middle…..Sword Jr lays out full extension and snares it clean and flips to his senior 2B from his stomach to end the game for a series clinching 8-4 win!!

Now that is a birthday to remember!

    He would finish this game:

    3-5
    2B
    2 HR
    2R
    2 RBI

    For the series:

    5-13
    5 Runs
    2 RBI
    2B
    HR
    SB
    BB
    2 Sacs
    HBP

    For the season currently:
    #2 in average .329
    #2 in slug .462
    #1 Runs scored
    # 1 Stolen Bases
    # 1 sac bunts
    #2 sac flies
    # 5 in hits
    #3 in doubles
    #1 in HR
    #1 in OBP (.431)
    #2 in OPS! (.893)

His hard work is showing in spades.

He has a lot more he wants to accomplish and the season is just past the halfway point.

Next weekend a big conference series on the road in Greensboro NC and then I am heading up to Cary NC with his summer coach to watch a 3 game home stand vs their biggest conference rival!!!

    That is awesome Armor!!!!

Other than the throwing error slider I have the rest of the sliders as is and they are playing very well! Almost time to start the regular season.

Yes, I was seeing this on anything above 5. You won’t get as many errors at 5 but they will be much more believable.

Game has been playing pretty great so far with only the lack of human walks being generated as my only frustration. I will say it’s partially me being too aggressive but as stated above I can’t see to ever get the count to start 1-0 so it pretty much forces me into this aggressive mode knowing a strike is coming and if I do decide to let it go I’m starting down 0-1. I’m back and forth on strike frequency or going with 5 across the board and lowering consistency. If I can fix this and generate even 1-2 more walks a game I’d say the game is about as good as it’s going to get for me.

I did also mess around with the fielder reaction 5 and 4 and dont see enough of a positive difference to keep it at 5 so I’ll follow you armor and keep it as is

So played my series finale vs Cleveland and I was able to draw 5 walks. I too have been getting fanned at a high rate early in the season as I adjust to the amazing new challenge of CPU pitching on HOF hitting. However walks are there if you are patient.

So I am really focusing on keyholing on 0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 3-1 counts more than ever. I say give it some more time before making any slider changes.

The game is absolutely more challenging this cycle and I want to let V1 breathe a bit before I consider any tweaks.

Also I am the Yankees......we strike out a lot. LOL.

I also encourage that with errors and injuries......trust me on that one.

If you play every inning, every pitch...the reversion to the mean will take hold and yes you could have some outlier season/seasons for certain guys. That's the beauty of baseball and playing the 162 game grind.

              Strike frequency is fine..

What I’ve noticed this year is the cpu will absolutely punish you if you swing at bad pitches and take strikes early in counts. You have to really read the pitches spin. Be patient but also don’t always take the first 1-2 pitches every at bat. Last game I had 4 walks without even trying to get walks just by reading the pitches better.

This is the first show that you can really tell by the spin of the ball what most likely is coming.

Armor did you start your franchise with pre existing injuries? Also for your teams injury dice roll how do you just not decide to not to play your players three games in a row so they don’t enter in dice roll?

Anyone else receive a franchise survey from SDS? Some pretty substantial questions that if we were to get, a lot of people would be very happy. Check your emails. Just the options that are geing surveyed go well beyond what franchise mode is currently. Hopefully they are truly listening

So no on pre existing injuries. In my universe we go with a clean slate start. But that's me. By all means it's your universe.

As far as three days in a row that only applies to your bullpen. And I take that risk if I have no choice, am in a critical series etc.

Once we get to the postseason....that all goes out the window. No injury matrix at all for anyone.

Sorry I meant when they say your position player could use a day off. What’s stopping you from just sitting them every time instead of playing them and then doing the dice roll?

I think I am going to stick with my current “test franchise” since V1 is final even though I did not start on spring training but started in the regular season. I am too invested already and do not want to start over after playing 18 games.

With that said who are you guys raking with and who are you struggling with in your franchises? I am playing as the Yankees and am raking with Jazz, Stanton and Wells but can’t do s**t with Volpe. On the pitching side I and lights out with Cole as expected but struggling with Rodon. In the bullpen Loisiga hasn’t given up a run in 9 innings but I am struggling with Hamilton.

Can anyone help me making a decision on rosters? When would SDS drop their opening day rosters? Or is it best to wait for a roster from one of the roster-makers and use their roster?

Oh I play my regulars most of the time and they do get dice rolls but if it makes sense to give them a day off when notified I will.
