        Fun Tricks

Most of the tricks here have been in PYS games for many years, but just in case you don't know them, here they are:

Throw ball into the stands (for owners of older PYS, i think it may be PYS4 or 5 when you can earn 200 shop points if you throw a ball into the stands)
If you catch the last out of an inning with your RF or LF, you can throw the ball into the stands:
        - For RF, press Triangle + O simultaneously
        - For LF, press Triangle + Square simultaneously

        Call a homerun
As a hitter, you can "call a shot" and point your bat/finger to LF/CF/RF. Now this is supposed to be a visual only but the first time I tried this trick, I pointed to RF and immediately on the first pitch, the CPU threw a missed pitch (the big fat meatball with an exclamation mark on the pitcher's head) and I hit a homerun to RF. Unbelievable LOL right there.

Enter the command BEFORE the batter steps into the box for his regular pre-bat cut scene (works best if you hold the buttons right after the previous batter makes an out/gets a hit). Technically you don't have to hold the button or do it at this time but this is just what i found to be the easiest way.

Point to LF: press and hold L1+R1+Left simultaneously
Point to CF: press and hold L1+R1+Up simultaneously
Point to RF: press and hold L1+R1+Right simultaneously

        Homerun Celebration Poses
Enter the command at the scene where your homerun hitter touches home plate. You will see the special pose after you slap hands with your teammates. Technically you don't have to hold the button or do it at this time but this is just what i found to be the easiest way.

Raise fist: press and hold L1+R1+Up
Alex Ramirez pose: press and hold L1+R1+Right
Julio Zuleta pose (even though he is no longer in the league): press and hold L1+R1+Down
Benny Agbaiani (ditto): press and hold L1+R1+Left

Thanks Muka, I'm just messing around in exhibition games while getting familiar with the game. It would be nice to get a noob rundown of the menus and in-game pause menu options. Thanks!

Great thanks! Yea, the left side of the screen I can pretty much figure out as it's all player info. The right side is the big problem, I'm trying to tweak things to my liking but there's tons of options.

                        Questions:

What is this screen telling me? I think it's controller options but am not sure what the 3 options mean...

                        IMG_9394.jpg

What does the green icon on the bottom right mean? Is this where the batter historically likes to hit the ball? Also, at the top some pitch selections have two bars instead of one, but when you select the pitch only one is highlighted. What is the significance of the non highlighted bar?....

                        IMG_9395.jpg

What is the message here in the warmup screen, and what does the bar do below it?...

                        IMG_9396.jpg

I think this one just shows the lineups and players involved in the field, but what is the coach telling me on the bottom right?...

                        IMG_9397.jpg

                        Thanks!

I'd like to know what this screen means too. Although I select the one at the lower right corner, and it takes me to my custom user settings, and then I use those settings. Still if someone could translate exactly what all 6 of those options are, that'd be great.

Yeah I'd like to know what the green icon means also. I assume it's tendencies, like how good the batter is at contact, power, bunting, etc. But please someone translate this.

As far as the pitch selections are concerned, the pitch selections that have two bars are additional pitches that you can throw. Some pitchers have more than just the first row of pitches. To access the non highlighted pitch bar, you select that location, then when the first bar is highlighted, you press R1, and the other pitch bar will be highlighted. I noticed in your screenshot that you are batting and the CPU is pitching and that there is a ? (question mark) surrounding the CPU pitcher pitch types bars. You can turn off the question mark CPU pitch bars in settings under the Batting Section. The last option is "CPU Pitch Type Display". If you turn it to Off it goes away. When the CPU is pitching to me, there's no need to show the vague ? question mark filled pitch types display. You only really need that on when you are pitching. I just turn the CPU pitch type display off for when I'm batting.

This meter shows the speed that a particular pitch has. The slower a pitch is, the farther left that meter is. So a fastball would be all the way to the right, and a slider or a curveball would to the left. That meter is actually very helpful for learning pitches. When warming up my pitcher, that meter helps me to know which pitches I should test in warmups based on how fast or slow they are. So I know exactly what the pitch looks like before I face a batter.

                          Thanks!
I think the manager is suggesting that you do either a hit-and-run or a bunt in this situation. Please someone correct me if I am wrong. (this menu is new to PYS2010) I think you still have to manually do a hit-and-run or bunt even if you press O (circle). There are other times where this menu comes up and the manager suggests you pitch-hit someone. That menu has two options, (Yes, or no). In that menu, if you press Yes it will load up the pitch hit screen, and if you hit no I guess it will go back to the game.

From what I've seen, in that menu that you have in that screenshot, pressing O (circle) there doesn't seem to have any effect on what automatically happens on the next play. It just seems to be a suggestion by the manager to do a hit-and-run or a bunt. But if someone can actually read this menu, please translate.

Has anyone seen any other manager menus besides a hit-and-run / bunt (whatever that is) suggestion or a pitch-hitter suggestion?

                            Thanks SimGamer!

I noticed there's an extra audio option in the PSP version that is not in the PS3. It's the lowest option which you can then select from three different options. Any idea what the differences are? If you select the one in the third image a little bell rings.

                            IMG_9400.jpg

                            IMG_9401.jpg

                            IMG_9402.jpg

Strangely they included volume for announcers but I don't hear them I tried the three options above and that didn't work. Also, any time I change a setting this screen appear, what are they saying is OFF?...

What does the green icon on the bottom right mean? Is this where the batter historically likes to hit the ball? Also, at the top some pitch selections have two bars instead of one, but when you select the pitch only one is highlighted. What is the significance of the non highlighted bar?....

What is the message here in the warmup screen, and what does the bar do below it?...

I think this one just shows the lineups and players involved in the field, but what is the coach telling me on the bottom right?...

Sorry wasnt able to do the translation last night but it's great that you took these clear screenshots, it's so much easier for me this way since I can do it at work instead of at home where I only have limited time.

                              1. The first screen - controls set up, it looks like this:

                              Normal Setting -- Change Settings
                              Pro Setting -- Change Settings
                              My Setting -- Change Settings

Basically you can ignore the Normal/Pro/My (they are preset options) and go directly into one of the Change Settings (any 1 should be fine) which will bring you to the User Setting screen translated in the first post

                              2. The Pentagon Graph - it is a "real-time" presentation of your batter's abilities. Starting from 12 oclock, going clockwise, the 5 attributes are:

                              1. Power
                              2. Contact VS Left-handers
                              3. Speed
                              4. Bunt
                              5. Contact VS Right-handers

I say "real-time" because the graph changes depending on the situation. So if your guy has the "strike out" abilitiy, you will see the attribute for his Contact shrink a lot when you have 2 strikes

                              3. The Pitchign Speed Gauge - All the way to the left is Slowest, to the right is Fastest. it tells you what speed the CPU hitter is aware of at the moment. Changing speed is important. The idea is not to hit the gauge in the Red/Danger zone.

                              4. This is a Coaching Advice screen. I can tell from teh screen shot you probably brought this up manually since the coach does not really have an advice here. But when he gives you an actual advice which is available either if you set the Coach Advice to Auto or Manual (hit Square to bring up advice when available, please see User Setting translation) he will suggest pinch hitter/pinch runner/setup man/closer depending on the game situation.
