Due to 2k's poor reception this year the mods are coming out pretty slowly. Right now I think only the Marlin's new stadium has been updated at mvpmods.

One thing that 2k11 had for PC was a franchise/roster editor. Imagine a text based editor for the Show. I can't believe OSFM is created with the Shows in-game editor. They must be irritating as hell.

For me, I noticed a difference with 2K12 in many ways. You can't always go by the back of the box. NHL12 had over 300 gameplay tweaks but you don't see them all listed do you?

You're having a great time with The Show. Awesome. Please continue to do so.
If you don't like 2K12, don't play it.
Others have been enjoying it so what do you care?
I'm still perplexed as to why someone would spend so much negative time going to a site to bash a game over and over and over - especially when they have an alternative selection that they do enjoy.
If 2K12 were the only baseball game out there, then yes, I'd see your point.
But you have the Show so take a sedative and enjoy the game you do like.
Your very first response to me was about how upset you were that no one could say anything the least bit negative about The Show with out being jumped all over. Yet I try to make one point about 2K12 and correct you when you respond with misinformation and you are jumping all over me and accusing me of needing a sedative.

Here's another thing to blow your mind. I have never once called MLB 2K12 a bad game, I said it was a dump of a franchise meaning the development has been a gong show this generation and even resulted in half finished game release (go ahead and try to tell me 2K9 wasn't half finished), on top of the budget being so obviously slashed since 2K10.

If you have something specific you think I've avoided responding to or selectively ignored than go ahead and point it out as I've tried to cover all the different tangents you go on when you avoid actually responding to my posts but it's kind of tough to do so in a concise manner.

It's the new "in thing" to bash anyone who likes The Show....and call them "Show Defenders" or something of the like.
Goes with the territory I guess.

It's a curious phenomenon, that I can't explain, other than the fact some people for whatever reason are so desperate to criticize the show, that's about all they can muster.

I don't get it, but it is what it is.

The Show comes with a bit of fan fare. Have you seen the reviews for it? It's being consistently called an all-time great, super-duper best game ever. Then when people play the Show and see some of the mental ******ation that appears in 2k12 and point it out, we're told we don't know baseball.

Whoever said it was like your A-grade son getting a B and us being disappointed, while your failing daughter gets a C and she gets extra dessert is right.

The only things I've gone off on a tangent about was Show zealots who refuse to believe their game is anything but perfect.
In one thread someone brought up the fact that after seeing NO errors, he raised the slider up one notch and saw tonnes of dropped routine fly-balls. He was met with "I dont' see it! You're making this up!" to "You mess with sliders, it's your own fault!".

If you think I'm wrong saying that please start a thread in The Show boards and make a very minor complaint about something. Watch the responses roll in.

For the record, I have never said anything negative about The Show either. Read my history and you'll see that I've never said anything bad about it. I've only stated that it wasn't for my tastes.
That comment was met with "You're not a real baseball fan". Then people wonder why so many despise half the regular posters on The Show forums.

I'm convinced that a great majority of 'negative' blasts at the game are completely based off the holier-than-thou attitudes displayed by a lot Show fans.

I have nothing against you bayman and I do appreciate your insights. I understand why some are upset with overly negative things said about The Show. It's a tremendous series and because of that, people expect more every season than what's fair.
But I really do believe that if more people could have civil conversations in The Show forums, half the negative responses wouldn't exist.

                Cheers.

The Show isn't perfect but compared to 2K it is gold. The Show games always have their glitches, but what sports game doesn't?

Have both games and played both.
The Show is just the superior product, period.
2K is a fun game but is lacking in different areas.

To me it's like The Show is the state of the art company that's always trying the next best thing and upgrading thier machines
and 2K is the "Run the machines until they die..fix them and do it again" company and never really fully commits to excellence.

Again 2K is a decent game but there'a lot of work to be done.

Re: My thoughts on the two baseball games

I think the thing with the Show is that it'sthe best sports game this generationo. I Don't think any game touches it, not even fifa. I just think sony basically maximized what the ps3 can do as far as sports games and multiplats just arent going to compete.

I've never really gone along with the general consensus though. A lot of people say 2k gets their basketball game right but their baseball game sucks. I think it's more just people playing one game against each other when there is nothing to compare to their basketball title. If there was a basketball or soccer game that looked like the show people would be saying nba 2k sucks and so does Fifa. I really dont see that much difference between 2k's basketball game and their baseball game.

That said that doesn't mean 2k's baseball game is bad. It's a good game. 2k also does some nice things as far as stat utilization. I like how mound visits actually matter. Inside edge. MLb today. Some sig animations like i said in my other post. I also like the bunt mechanics and some of the controls just make more sense in 2k. Like Escobar on the royals his animations are him. The show is more generic. 2k's game just loads faster and it's menus are easier to navigate imo. Online play is smooth. It's just more with this gen where the show is graphically ahead. The world wasn't ready for it or something.

That's also not to say THe Show isn't without it's flaws. It looks and plays rock solid but it still drives me nuts because i can't find a good balance with the sliders and difficulty as far as homeruns, extra base hits etc. All the games against the AI tend to be really low scoring and the same. There isn't a ton of variety.

I do love pulse pitching this year. I think the show has caught up as far as controls and their presentation.

Madden, NBA 2k, Fifa etc all kind of dont look that great compared to the Show though. It's not just MLB 2k that doesnt look that great compared to the show. If there was no Show, people would be saying MLB 2k is right there with those games imo.

I also think if you look at both games head to head. They are nearly identical. I dont really play games against each other and play favorites. They are the same game ultimately. The show is just a little prettier. Its more realistic where 2k is still dealing with dated 360 hardware. REally watch both games on youtube sometime head to head. how both games animate. Everything is nearly identical and on queue. MLB 2k is just a little bit more dated, washed out. Doesn't animate as smoothly.

2k has its pluses though like i said staying with the current gen and the lowest common denominator though. It has smoother online play. It has some nice features as far as mlb today, faster menus, better stat utilization. It also has some sig stuff and the gameplay has a bit more variety to it.

watch these two videos though in sync with each next to each other. They are basically teh same game. 2k just doesnt look as nice

If you look at nba 2k12 you will see the same things. The show just looks better. MLB 2k12 is a multiplat and is designed on the 360 which is lesser hardware. Watch each pitch though and the batter in between. They are doing the same exact things. It just doesnt look as good.

Both games added the same ball physics this year. The same pitching thing this year where each pitch goes up and down depending on if you are successful.

The show is just maximizing the ps3's hardware where mlb 2k12 is a multiplat and designed on the 360.

2k and Sony are probably the best sports games developers but are either developer that great or doing that much out of the norm? Not really. They've done a great job adding authentic stuff to their games, but as far as gameplay and really maximizing what could be done not so much. Both games look and play pretty good.

I think in general people have forgotten what it is to be creative though. Usually all we see from these developers is just adding a couple features and get the game looking good. As far as actual game design I still think theya ren't pushing any boundaries

I think it's more about getting the game working good and adding a lot of authentic graphics and motion capture and building the game that way. You have graphic artists but game designers have gone by the wayside. They don't like people who want to push boundaries that much or something. There are still things in these games that just don't work right or aren't doing anything that great. A lot of these games still have the same flaws they've always had and it's like a snails pace improving that.

Point being, I think the Show is just a better looking more polished version of in general. Neither series or any sports game is really pushing any boundaries as far as the overall design or AI. The show looks, sounds and works better. It's more authentic. It's not as sloppy.

I dont really understand OS's voting things ther have for best sports game of this generation where the show always loses. Do they not realize its only on the ps3 so not as many people are going to vote for it? You'd think someone would have the common sense to realize this. The consensus is kind of scewed.

But yet Fifa or NBA 2k gets awarded best sports game this gen. There's common sense missing there that just boggles my mind.

The show is to me the best sports game this generation.

                                I want to have fun.

                                Therefore, I buy The Show.

Its great for the baseball nut in me AND its fun as hell!
