Re: My thoughts on the two baseball games

    Just a few more notes...

I think 2k baseball is nearly perfect. The 3 things I can't stand are the dead stares and just totally mindless players in between plays. They really could have added more to that. The crowds are better but also need work how they look and interact. There are still those moments where it's bottom of hte 9th runner on 2nd and you can hear a cricket chirp. The crowds in general are improved but still pretty braindead. It's like they just cut off hte camera sometimes a second shorter so you dont see how stupid crowd reactions are vs actually improving them. The crowds are maybe a bit more energetic and stand on their feet sometimes. Look good in spots. The commentary is the same sometimes where they just kind of say what they do.

Also the overlays can be just ugly and literally take you out of the game. I avoid trying to get perfect pitch because it hurts my eyes when that thing flashes on the screen.

Games dont have to have the best graphics in the world. IT's more about what you do with them.

Franchise mode has a lot of great features but can be somewhat mindless like has been said. IT's more about just going that extra mile with 2k and adding those little things. I don't know why they get so close but don't every year.

2k always drops the ball in some area or does something completely stupid. NBA 2k is a bit more polished and is great. Their baseball game they just didn't have the tech to add that in between stuff. NBA doesnt really have that either. But there isnt as much going on in space/timeouts/in between plays in basketball as there is in baseball.

2k baseball just has that halfassed feeling to it. This years is actually really close and really good, that's what is disapointing. The stadiums look really great and the gameplay is fun. Someone should really ask 2k why. It's pretty obvious. IT's like why??

EA is even worse. It's like their games do nothing horribly wrong but nothing horribly right. I think they do it on purpose. But it's not like I can be like hey EA why do your games do this every year?! and get a straight answer.

It's not really complaining either. It's more just why not make a game what it could be? Shouldn't these companies be trying to make the best game possible? Isn't that good for everyone involved?

Re: My thoughts on the two baseball games

I like a lot of things mentioned here that 2k does when it comes to franchise mode and it's presentation of that mode.

The problem i have is for me, the game plays an awful game of baseball on the field. Things like leaving pitchers in to hit late in games down, and then subbing in a reliever to start the next inning, are tough to look past. I know some people seem to love them, but the on field ball physics and hit variety, I don't think compare. My biggest issue, remains the animations of defensive players. All in all, for me, and it's simply my opinion, it's a bad bad game of baseball.

All that being said, I agree on the overall layout and set up of franchise mode. I am not big on rehab assignments and such, but it's great that they are in the game.

As far as Pujols getting traded around, I have yet to see anything as extreme as some have reported with him or any other star players.

Someone mentioned ASB, and it's franchise mode. I feel the same way about ASB and 2k. I think it's franchise mode was outstanding, as was it's "expansion mode", but much like 2k, I always felt the onfield game was not very good, which is why I stuck with High Heat back in those days.

Re: My thoughts on the two baseball games

Ball physics on the Show are still pretty odd. I've seen balls bounce off the mound and land 5 feet in front of the CF. I got an A in dynamics and if I answered a problem that a baseball which strikes the mound bounces to within "5 ft in front of the CF" I would have to note in comments that I think the magnitude of my answer is completely off and I would have to re-check my answer.

Actually I would probably just divide my answer by ten and pretend I had a decimal in the wrong spot.

BK, you'll love this. On 2k I am the Padres and I fast forward pitching. You wouldn't believe the number of times I fast forward the top of the 5th or bottom of the 4th in a scoreless game and when it's my turn to bat a relief pitcher is in for my starter. In fact, I should check the average start length for my team. Let me know it it's realistic or not.

Not great, but versatile indeed. A definite must to have as he can pinch hit, defensive sub (has decent speed), and double switch.
I LOVE this about 2K as well. It adds a lot more strategy when injuries, slumps or substitutions come into play.

I wonder if they are running with real high pitch counts? I don't know how fast forwarding pitching changes the dynamic.

Poor Clayton Richard, he's off to a rough start.

                saem here.
I love how 2k REALLY makes those defensive replacements late in the game mean something.
2K has done a good job with that.

The Show this year has made fielders play more true to life as well, but the warp fielding is still annoying and takes away some fun and adds frustration.

I love how with outfielders in 2k, they are truly different and the on screen markers reflect that.

With Ichiro, the fielder circle is much smaller allowing him to zone in quicker on where the general area of the ball will be.
Also the exact ball location spot [the yellow one] appears sooner with him, because he is a better fielder.

But use a guy like Duda and his circle is much bigger and the yllow spot indicator comes in much later.

makes a fly ball in the gap become an adventure or a walk in the park
