Manage only Mode Thread

I know this type thread wouldn't interest everyone, but Clevecluby,Bobbyxxiv,Gado,and Knight 165 among others might join me in discussing this facet of ASB 2005 (or 2004).

I, like most of the other manage only types, are always trying to find that perfect mix of good statistics, and realistic results. I've had some luck recently (just pulled ASB 2004 back off the inactive list) with a combination of the manage only mode and allowing the cpu to control my players most of the time. I've been leaving my pitcher to 1p control on hitting only. It seems that protects him from being jerked out of the game at the cpu's disgression.

I would enjoy some of the other thoughts on achieving a good mixture of stats and realism from my fellow manage only fans. Maybe we can keep this ,or another ,thread near the top for convenience sake.

Sounds good. I felt that ASB did a pretty good job of contoling the team on the field(and off!) last year in my manage only franchise. The stats were low(a game flaw that hopefully has been fixed this year) but I just concentrated on putting together a winning team with the budget given to me.
One thing about manage only players like myself and others here...I think we are all stat junkies. While that can be a good thing..it can also hurt a games chances of growing on you. There was just too much good in ASB's franchise mode to let the low offense bother me that much. I just pretended the "dead ball" era was back!
Anyway, I like this idea and after looking at the new vids released by Acclaim.....March can't get here fast enough!!

Sounds good. I felt that ASB did a pretty good job of contoling the team on the field(and off!) last year in my manage only franchise. The stats were low(a game flaw that hopefully has been fixed this year) but I just concentrated on putting together a winning team with the budget given to me.

Just off the top of my head....last year I did edit some of the better players in the league. If they were not already an A+ in batting...I upped them. Another was making catchers and first basemen on my team A's in fielding and the pitchers A's in pickoff. There were too many passed balls and errors on pickoffs. I did not like to edit that way, but the tradeoff was necessary.
If someone ever came up with an editor like "Flyin' Finn's" for ESPNHockey for this game, I would be in heaven!!....and probably getting a divorce! My wife would kill me with all the time I would spend editing historical rosters!!

I haven't tried editing any of the players ratings yet, but I did tinker with the idea of lowering all pitcher ratings by one level (b+ to b,or c to c-) and seeing if that would help. Might even lower them more than that. Here's hoping the new game is great out of the box.

I like Manage-Only mode as well. I hope you can get more realistic results from the generated counts this season. I remember having something like 15K's and 15BB's in one game last season because of the generated counts. Would like to see more variety.

I do like the way ASB let's you watch. I was pretty intrigued by MVP's manager mode that finishes games in 5 minutes, but I like to see the stadiums/uni's/players etc.
