    Re: Manage only Mode Thread

I'm at the 99 game mark, and the tweaks keep on coming. I was reading Jim416's Return to ASB thread, and did some tweaking on speed ,range, pitcher stamina ,etc. as outlined in that fine thread. I also (in the manage only mode) am going to try to lower the catchers arm and accuracy rating by one grade (at least) to see if the steal percentages can get to a more realistic level.

Edgar Renteria is something like 10-20 on steals, and Tony Womack started off 1-9, before stealing 8-9. Maybe pitch count selectivity is a key, but they sometimes just get horrendous jumps.

Still enjoying the game, and my team is at 49-50 (Cardinals) The strikeouts are out of sight. Especially Rolen and Pujols (who in reality is far from a free swinging strikeout guy)

Overall a great game ,and one I'm still enjoying.

Thanks for posting your experience with the game to this point. I'm still somewhat mixed on setting up a career/season for this game. I think it potentially might be good, but am reluctant to spend a month of baseball time to figure out if it works for me. I think the high rate of K's is still in the game from previous years (Although this year not as bad). I really think we might still be a year away (if acclaim cares - or is even still around) from having a GREAT manage only game. I have no idea how the game is selling, but it can't be too great, considering the improvements that all the other baseball games have made this year.

On a side note, I actually got a really good CPU vs. CPU game today with ESPN. At this point, I might just play the "GM" role and watch my games out. Not nearly as fun as making the pitching changes, choosing when to bunt, hit and run ETC, but at this point, I don't have the time for all the little "quirks" that ASB has in the game.

            Re: Manage only Mode Thread

I found out that the swinging at all those balls way out of the strikezone is a glitch in the game.

I went to my buddies house. We played against each other. I played on AS and he played MO mode. There was a situation where I purposely, don't know why, pitched a ball way out of the strikezone. I tweaked the left stick as far as it would go.

On Manage Only his batter swung at it. I did it again and his batter swung at it again. Experimenting some more it happened every time. There must be some type of grid and the swing is triggered somehow. Anyway, Acclaim needs to take a look at this for next year.

In case they read the boards I'll posts this in the "glitches" threads.

A bump up for the new manage only guys. jim416 and knight165 have a great thread about manage only going, and this might serve as a compliment to that one.

                      Hi , I'm a manage-only guy too ( with all sports game ).
here is what I do with ASB2005
my team is made from a bunch of players no longer playing in major league ( Burkett,Kapler,Gant,Rickey Henderson , Batista etc ...) ( since Montreal no longer have a team ).
I play games using the 2-0 count generator , that's the best way I found to get a realstic K's and walks ratio .
                      I will get , on average , 6 k's and 3 walks a game ( per team ) , of course it depends on who's pitching .
Games are about 20 minutes long , with an average of maybe 10 runs a game .
i'm in my 39 games and my team is 15-24 so far .
                      just wanted to share .

Wow...I thought this thread was gone when they deleted the ASB subforum!

Bullpen, do you use the 2-0 count with all the pitchers you use and face? For instance, did you ever think of using a 1-0 count when you are facing Randy Johnson? I'm going to try it to see if I get more K's when facing him and other strikeout pitchers.

I myself use the random count.

Do you use any edits on the players attributes?

I always use the 2-0 count , no matter what pitcher i'm facing .
I just faced Roger Clemens and he got 7k's in 5 innings .
I don't edit any of players attributes either ,so far I like the stats i'm seeing so far .
The more I play this game , the more I like it .
I probably won't buy any baseball games this summer , and continue playing ASB2005 ...I just can't let go of my Expos so I think i'll restart a new franchise ( using players not on any major league roster ) , and play as the Expos ...
you guys should go watch your teamm as often as you can ...'cause it really sucks to have to lose your team ...
