And that's really what it comes down to. Most of the posters here have already made up their mind which game they are getting. Others on the fence are looking for an 'advantage' one game has over the other. We go through this for every major sports game every year. Gaming is subjective people. Someone will want working scoreboards, while others want something else. Those who have to justify their purchase are the same people having a fight over which console is better. The same people who despise a company and the company's business model yet turn around and buy a game from said company.

You have the right to defend you title of choice, but really, does it get anyone anywhere else? Most likely the person bashing it will not get it, the person defending it will get it, and the person who isnt sure will head on over to gamreankings.com and see which game is rated the highest, and buy that one.

These types of threads get no one anywhere. Why should anyone need to give ASB respect? If ASB is as good as the developers say it is, it will sell itself. If MVP is good, it will sell itself, etc ,etc. Those who dont want to play the game will not play it; this also means that the company who created that game the player purchases catered to that type of player. Guess what? It was s sale.

Word of mouth helps, but it isnt the last defense of a game's popularity. Talk about the game that you are looking forward to, discuss with others about those same topics, and just forget about every other game and gamer who has their own agenda and thoughts on this game. With the way you guys draw these lines in the sand you would think the developers here would be at the forefront defending their game till the last man is left standing. But guess what? they aren't. They hope to sell as many copies as they can, and each company has a different way to go about it.

Let it go people. Let people justify their purchases if they want to. Be the better poster and just move on. Eventually if no one listens, then the thread will just go away.

There are four developer's diaries at IGN right here. Each covers the changes to a particular aspect of the game. Read all four, and you'll have a good idea of what to expect from ASB05. If you're trying to figure out what's changed about the game based on the laundry-list press release, give it up. MVP has a similar generic list, but you didn't find out about MVP's changes from that, did you?

Any kind of Internet debate is pretty much a waste of time. But certainly some discussions (like the game's features) have more merit than others (EA sux!@!).

            ASB will rule.

According to ASBman, The horrendous ASB03 was still the #2 selling baseball game. Thats a hell of an established fan base. When you add the purists attracted to the off the field depth who just couldn't handle the REALISTIC pitch speeds who now will be able to tailor the game to their coordination level, you now add thousands more fans. Then MVP will have some ******** AI hiccup (like every single EA game ever created has) that casual fans will miss altogether. The "MVP will be completely flawless" camp will be all disappointed, and that will give a couple thousand more sales to ASB. So who cares about the respect, we'll all still be playing it....

That's not to say ASB will have its own share of flaws, too. That goes for any other game competing with MVP Baseball 2004. In other words, you're bashing how MVP will have flaws yet you're enshrining ASB as if it will be perfect in itself.

Re: why is no one.. giving asb any respect???

Every new sports season, brings to us another segment of "My favorite game is better because"! I must admit, this is very entertaining to read, but what is the point exactly? Why does it matter if someone likes your favorite game or not? If the rest of the world doesn't like the game that you do, does it mean that you have to stop liking it? First and foremost, none of these games have been released for this year, so lets don't do that ASB'05 is better than MVP because, lets wait until the next few months to do that. Second, who determines which is the best game? Because more people write about one game more than another. These are people's opinions folks, not the law. If someone bashes a game you like, who cares?! There is one thing that I know for certain and that is, not one of the baseball games being released this year will be perfect. Each one has its upside, and its downside. Not one game will be perfect. Each individual game has something unique about it that sets it apart from the other titles. For example: ASB (expansion mode, and a killer front office), MVP (steallar graphics, real-life minor league squads, and 25 real managers) ESPN (great presentation, confidence meters) MLB(front office very similar to that of Madden, the ability to actually put yourself in the game with Eyetoy). See, each game is different. If you combined all of these titles, then yes, you could say that you have the perfect baseball game, but it won't happen. There will always be a difference in the titles, that is what companies use and bet on to sell their repsective title. So, why must we every year go through the "My favorite game is better because" phase, what does it solve. People are prejudice of their own opinion. Nothing gets settled, people call other people stupid, and claim that they are not making sense, or that their favorite game is not getting its "props", and why, because someone doesn't agree. Folks, we have separate forums for each baseball title. And please lets stop the bashing, name calling, and nonsense that has already started. Each game is great in its own way, and each one comes up short to another in one way or another. Lets discuss our games, not try to crown a "king".
