    Re: After playing MVP........................

Nobody is really sure why ASB is 'delayed', although, like someone said, the delay itself is just as unofficial as the release date.

The game could have been held up for numerous reasons unrealated to the development process. The delays could be caused by delays with the Sony/MS certification process. Or perhaps there was an issue at the manufacturer or boxer or printers or a million other reason we have no insight to.

Beside if the game was delayed an extra half month to fine tune everything I have no complaints. Personally I would rather have a publisher that sided with developers in extending the time they need to get the game just right rather than a publisher that sides with marketing departments and forces devs to hit street dates with a pre-mature product.

If ASB at the very least improves its played game time, I will probably sit with it. Last year's game, was too long. It had that "real" baseball fell. Any where around 30 minutes for a baseball game is perfect. Past 45 without the option of simming out of blowouts tends to be laborious.

The only true way to determine whether it has that "real" baseball feel to it, is for it to last more than 3 hours 17 minutes per game. That, my friends, is a real baseball game.

I rented MVP today (Xbox). It looks clean on my 50" widescreen and the graphics are ok. However, during non-playing sequences, the game seems to run very choppy. It's not unbearable, but it is noticeable and does take away from the atmosphere (for me anyway). The uniform colors are still a bit off for some teams, something which I hated in ESPN baseball. And the stadiums, while pretty good looking, still don't compare to ASB.

I really like the pitching interface, makes for a very challenging game. The batting I can give or take. Personally, I'm used to the cursor batting of ASB and have no problems with it, so MVP is just a change of pace for me. I was able to draw walks a lot more in ASB last year than I have so far in MVP so I'd give that a thumbs down at this time. I played ASB pretty much exclusively last year except for the 2 days after I bought ESPN, then traded it in. I'd rate MVP's batting in the middle. I'm used to ASB, can appreciate the batting in MVP, and detested it in ESPN.

I'm still looking forward to ASB. I played last year's game entirely on my widescreen in stretched mode and the game was still fine for me, just a bit pixellated on the players. I'm anxious to see the cleaned up appearance of this years game.
