I have a quick story about my brother and my experience with our purchase of MLB 2K6 which has me kind of puzzled. My brother and I both have 360's and we both purchased MLB 2K6. I have not had any freezing issues with my copy so far. On the other hand my brother can't even come close to finishing a single game without it freezing. Seriously, he hasn't been able to finish one freaking game yet without getting "the freeze" ruining his gameplay experience.
So now I read the article posted at ign and I'm thinking maybe there were problems when they manufactured the discs that lead to some people getting good copies of the game and some getting bad copies that freeze. That would suck but would be a logical explanation for everyones problems so far. So because I haven't had any freezes yet I'm thinking somehow I got a copy that doesn't freeze and my brother got screwed and got a bad copy. So I have my brother try playing my copy that I'm thinking is good on his 360. What do you know, it freezes on him in the middle of the game. This now has me really puzzled as to what the real problem is that's causing the game to freeze. To me this blows ign's theory out of the water that there was a possible problem when manufacturing the "retail" discs.
So what could be causing the problem? What do you guys think?
BTW, my brother is now infuriated that they released a game with this problem and will be attempting to get a refund tomorrow. This is a shame because he really likes the game but it is unplayable in its current state. 2K must act quickly on this or their sales and their customers will drop like flies.
