WSB was good last year but VERY flawed! The CPU AI was horrible, I prayed before each game that the AI would be better than last game and they might even score. The pitcher stamina was way off, the jump button was missing as well.

The game also had a lot of good things about it, such as the graphics, the batter/pitcher interface was damn good, and the developers and programmer actually listened to posts on this site and I believe they will make any adjustments needed to make this the best OVERALL baseball game this year! I still don't think the gameplay was as close to real baseball as HH's, so I will purchase WSB for Xbox, and HH for PS2, for Sharkport roster reasons and since I don't have Xbox live.

It is also hard to count out ASB, it was excellently presented last year, but was way slow and the gameplay still needs much tweaking IMO, which according to many of the previews wasn;t worked on very much

I don't think you can go wrong w/ any title this year, just pick your brand of baseball. I usually buy 2 or 3 games every year and I end up back to HH each year and the others end up on Ebay! So if your patient enough, give each a rent, I for one am not, so I will be in line at EB on 2/12 to pick up HH

I'm getting WSB2K3. I had WSB2K2 for the Dreamcast and WSB for the Xbox was almost a straight port. Add in cleaner graphics plus a few more animations and a good franchise mode and you have WSB Xbox. Oh yeah WSB2K2 had online play but since nobody supported the Dreamcast enough and since none of the new consoles were supporting online play right off it was scrapped. The power swing thing just adds strategy because I know there are times in a game where someone is trying to go long ball on purpose. I also know you can still get homeruns from the regular swing but the power swing inceases a power hitter's chance to hit one over the fence. If you think about it if there was a bunt swing and a regular swing you were pretty much trying to go over the fence every at bat unless you were trying to hit grounders. Now you have a bunt and drag bunt swing. A regular swing to try and keep the ball in play and a power swing to purposely try and hit it over the wall. All I can say is STRATEGY.

I will still get WSB like I do every year but High Heat is also worth getting IMO.

sounds like the sliders will really take care of the gameplay issues from last year.

they have that new "timing swing" (much like HH)
also...sounds like the batting icon shrinks/ grows based on
tha batters abilities (this was one of the few things i liked about ASB 2002)

-even more animations
-some classic ballparks
-more classic uniforms
-ESPN (with the K-zone I might add)
-jump ability
-manual lead-off
-oh yes & who can forget HDTV support-----

no you can't technically GTA 3 was a first year effort because they had never done one on the PS2 before with that game engine so you can't throw it out until its over that is like counting the Angels out of the World Series last year just because they were not good the year before

WSB2k2 on Dreamcast was a pure arcade game there were no sim aspects at all in that game, you would go up by 10-15 runs then all of a sudden the CPU would manage to hit anything including pitcher constantly hitting homeruns for the team that was behind, the catchup logic in WSB2k2 turned that game into NFLBlitz for Baseball without the on fire mode. WSB on Xbox in my opinion was a totally different game, yeah it looked similar but finally no catchup logic and actual baseball scores not the 30-20 or 20-18 scores I was constantly getting in WSB2k2.
