The lack of info is making me want to buy a ps3 for the show

I dont want to start any arguments but im starting to feel this way. Im a 2k fan. I played 2k7 alot i mean alot and they really did something special after the patch. Im starting to get upset because the show's graphics are looking really nice with the exception of player models. They are showing pics, videos and previews that actually say alot about what they are doing. Why cant 2k show something?? I know alot of people are going to tell me to have patience but at this point they ran out. Im honestly considering a ps3 now just for the show. I had a ps3 when it first came out but i sold it because the lack of games at first, but now with all this info on the show and 2k not showing anything. I think i might do that. Im a diehard baseball fan and 2k seems to not want to market their game at all. I guess that explains why they struggle in their sports department.

I can't see ever buying a console for one game... If 2K7's not up to par...which I will be really disappointed if it isn't... Then I will just stick w/ Mass Effect and tearing 12 yr olds to shreds on COD4.

I might just force myself to like 2K8 just so I can play a baseball game...if it ends up sucking...But I don't have that much of a disposable income to go buy another system w/ only one game in mind for it.

I hear you bro. Im just upset that 2k is doing nothing for us. I know 2k8 is not going to suck. We both know that. It's just the lack of info thats getting me tight

The game won't go gold or magically release any sooner because 2K releases some screen shots.

You can buy a ps3 and play both.

Every year it's the same thing with 2K - they don't promote their games, and then people start to wonder and worry and complain. But then the game finally comes out and people enjoy it as if none of the waiting ever happened. In other words, have patience

I did it last year. It was well worth it. The show plays a much much better baseball game

Did you really enjoy MLB 2k6, it was one of the worst sports games produced. 2K7 was a step in the right direction, but still loaded with glitches

I bought the PS2 for NCAA 2002. But I was still on the N64 so it wasn't that hard of a decision for me LOL. MLB 2K forever!!!!!

Agreed. MLB 2K6 was an unplayable 360 game. On Xbox, I found enjoyment in it. I finished a full season plus change of franchise mode. On the 360, I couldn't finish three innings. Terrible game.

This series needed a serious upgrade when it came to terms with the 360 version, and they gave us just that with MLB 2K7. This year, they had three more months of a development cycle. I see nothing but an upward improvement with this game as well.

The thing is, though, SCEA has no where to go but up as well. Not only that, but they aren't limiting the Blu-Ray disc's power at all (and I have a feeling that Kush is so that it doesn't surpass the 360 by too much). Graphically, The Show inferior... but Kush really needs to step up and make this game very playable out-of-the-box to have a chance with The Show in the gameplay department

As for the OP's initial post, this is exactly what I have been talking about for a long time. It's not that I'm worried about info and media for my sake; I can wait. I'm just concerned for them... concerned that they will lose people only because they waited too long. I understand what that one poster said about getting it to play as good as possible, but sometimes you just need to get a small something out there. I know many movie teaser trailers that have CGI shots that are definitely a crap work-in-progress that look far superior when the movie actually comes out, and this is no different. I say they just need to tease us for now... for their sake.

I agree that 2K has never done well with marketing.

But on the otherhand, I wouldn't make any major decisions based upon a preview or lack there of. Just think of all the games that had awesome previews with beautiful screens and new features that sounded incredible....yet the game was horrible. NCAA '08 was like that for me. The "Sizzle" video was fantastic...but the gameplay is borderline comical, and attempting to make it play like real college football is an excercise in frustation.

Re: The lack of info is making me want to buy a ps3 for the show

2K is losing potential customers by keeping their game in the dark like this while The Show is firing on all cylinders with pics, video's, and IN-DEPTH interviews (not crap interviews like Brinkman gave a month ago).

Kolbe and Chris over on The Show boards answer questions about the game. It's awesome, and it gets people pumped up for the game. KushGamer is here telling us "soon, soon, soon." Screw soon. How about now? KushGamer is doing nothing to get us excited about the game. The 2K marketing team is also doing nothing.

It's not me they have to worry about, I know 2K8 is going to be awesome and I'm going to buy it. It's not most of the people who post here that they have to worry about. It's people who are on the fense (and there are hundreds of thousands of them) that 2K has to worry about.

When these people go on IGN, or GameSpot, or any other gaming site and they look up baseball games they are going to see impressive pictures of The Show. Impressive video. And an in-depth interview about the game. Then they look up the alternative and what are they going to see? Boxart and "more info soon" plastered all over the place.

Then they wonder why they are struggling. Why their game didn't sell as well as it should have. The marketing of the product is mostly to blame.

And if this keeps up for a few more years the game won't sell enough copies to warrant them making any more. And us, the fans who love the game, are going to be left out in the cold.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. You see how Kolbe and Chris answer every question thrown at them. Even if it is a negative answer, they still give us an answer. That reason alone is why I have a huge amount of respect for SCEA. 2K sports doesn't care at all. When 2k6 came out I wrote emails to them telling them what a POS that game was. Everyone knew that game sucked. They should have sold 2k7 at a discount for that piece of garbage they put out the year before. Or in the very least issue an official apology. But they don't care and they're going to continue to loss fans with a crappy product and their constant disrespect for their consumers
