Lets face it, this is what we should come to expect from this series...take it or leave it...for better or worse...it's like a bad marriage. 2K's marketing department doesn't know it's *** from a whole in the wall and it shows in their poor sales. For the last year, they have pretty much dominated the NBA field, but still can't outsell Live. Why? Because they are completely clueless when it comes to promoting their product. There is this thing called the internet that they can use to publicize their game for pretty much nothing, but they choose to do nothing instead. It's pretty much guaranteed that you will find info on this game from five other sites before you hear anything from their own G.D. site.
At least with the NBA series, there is actually some interaction between their dev team and the fans, but it's pretty much non-existant with this game. I know these guys work their asses off for most of the year, but it wouldn't take but 15 minutes a week to give the fans who pay money to play their game a little heads up of what is going on. Instead we get nothing.
After the last few years, this isn't something to be suprised about. If they had a whole slough (slew?) of info out, I'd be a lot more suprised. Apperantly they have some jerk off who believes that this is the way to run a business and sell a proudct and is making these decisions, but it's been this way since 2K6 crapped the bed after it was supposed to be gods gift to baseball video games.
How late is too late, though? If they release info next week, will it have mattered that they didn't release anything last week? In all honesty, as long as they get some decent media out a few weeks before the game drops, it won't matter one way or the other. I doubt people make a decision on what game they are going to buy 2 months before the game releases and then stick to that decision 100% strictly because that game gave them early pictures and video's. If they do, then that's a decision they will live with. Sure some early buzz would help, but it's still early in January It's till the middle of the NFL playoffs and baseball won't start for about 3 months. Maybe theres something to this on their side.
Don't get me wrong, it's still piss poor on their part, but that is price of that is something that they will pay for on their end financially..for me, it's just something I expect. 2K does that to themselves with pretty well every new game they release it seems. Guess they don't care all that much. And if they don't care about timely marketing, or updating info on their site, I'm certainly not going to concern myself either.Comment

Ha...and shelling out over a thousand dollars for two systems, and internet connection is more logical...I'm 26 w/ a mortgage, a wife, a kid, and bills, bills, bills...I don't have the luxury of purchasing two systems...no matter how much of a fan I am.Last edited by JBH3; 01-10-2008, 07:01 AM.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeComment

if all goes well this year, next years game will be the final year in the 3 year development; so it should be the ultimate game and it still wont be marketing like EA games, so whatever. I will get both games after i trade in all the other crap i have. MLB 2K9...cant wait!Comment

even though the 360 breaks down alot its still my favorite system. I mostly play sport games but I also play action etc. I already had a ps3 on launch day and Sold it because if lack of games. I'll just wait and see.NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.Comment

the only reason i wont sell the 360 completely is because it has the best game library. but the ps3 is getting a few games that i want, and they wont have a limited library for much longer so i think its a worthy investment, especially since microsoft is paying it for me.
2k8 will be sick no doubt, i am really interested in seeing what they have to offer.Comment

The funny thing is when info is finally released all the people who are crying about it, and saying they won't get it now will be the first ones to praise it.
I really cant believe this is such a big deal to people. Its January 9th. RELAX. Play another game for a while. Spring training games don't even start for a month and a half.
Also i thought that due to MLB rules the game couldn't be released until March 1st. Thats still almost 2 month away.Comment
