Here is how it works.
1. RT analog is the swing stick 2.5. Pull back to load and push all the way forward to swing. Pull back to check swing.
2. The LT analog stick will aim the swing. (there will be no visible cursor), but the size and quality changes depending on the hitter. The overall size of the the invisible cursor would be influenced by a hitters contact/strikeout rating, The hitters ability to hit the ball hard (would depend on the batting average rating) and the sweet spot or power would depend on the power rating of the hitter. Now all of these would also be influenced by the hitters power zones and how well they do off certain types of pitches and if its a lefty or right pitcher. So for example a guy might have a bigger hitting area against one pitcher vs another as a whole...and the guy might also have holes in his swing...where he has trouble making contact. The size would also vary depending on the difficulty rating and the sliders the user uses
3. Rt analog plus....not only will the analog control the swing it will control the type of step. so if you are lets say jeter and you pull back but do so slightly to the right...you will see him step towards the outsiide portion of the plate. This would give him an advantage when hitting an outside pitch...but would really make it hard to get good wood on the inside pitch. Now if you just pulled straight back...then there is no advantage or disadvantage.
4. Batters eye 2.0 - Now guessing location is determined essentially by the step so there will be no need for that. However, guessing pitch type can now be mapped to the a,b,x,y and x+a button (for the 5th pitch), each corresponding to on the pitchers pitches. You hit those buttons prior to the pitchers windup. If you guess right that invisible cursor will get bigger, guess wrong it gets smaller.
5. Bunting - pushing forward on the swing stick will initiate the bunt stance. If you want to punt it towards 1b then you push up/right. For a running bunt you must do it while the pitcher is winding up. You will need to use the lt analog to aim where you want the bat to go on the bunt.
6. Rt trigger - holding the right trigger will have the batter step out of the batters box...this is an important feature. Once you release it...this is the ideal time to put in the input for the pitch type you are guessing.
7. Rt trigger while you are holding the right trigger is you can cue up who you want to run by holding the rt trigger and the base you want your guy to steal. So if you want your guy to steal 2nd you hold the rt trigger and tap Y.
8. Lt trigger sets any baserunners in motion tapping the left trigger will send the baserunner that you cued up at the exact moment you want him to run. Now if you have a guy on first and third and you want the guy to fake going to second then the guy break for home on the release. Then you do as stated above and the camera changes you use the current system they have for baserunning. If you have a guys on 1b and 2nd and you want them to run. You hold the rt trigger and tap the Y and X button. At the moment you want them to run tap the left trigger.
9. Rt and lt buttons will control the size of the runners leads.
For # 7 an interesting animation could occur in which you view the 3rd base coach giving you signs.
10. For the purpose of people not whoring the Rt trigger for online play...you can make it so you can only do it once per pitch for no longer than 10 seconds at a time. However, if the pitcher throws over to a base he gets another opportunity to do so.
11. Also if someone uses the rt trigger right when a pitch is being thrown a few things could happen depending on where the person is in the delivery. A) Either way the batter will back off the plate...so the umpires can decide whether to grant him time or not. If he does there will a new animation where it shows the pitcher stopping his delivery...if it passes a certain point...the ball will be an automatic strike...while the hitter steps out. To also make the Rt trigger step out thing from getting in the way...the animation for the step out or the look over at the 3rb coach will only happen after the pitcher has stepped on the rubber. If the hitter hit the Rt trigger prior...the animations will look no different then now...but it will allow the user to cue up the baserunners.
Kush, 2K, Take-two...whoever, please if you use this system or any part feel free. I will ask for nothing except a great game in return. I think this system could be awsome...now on lower difficulties you can make it so that the left analog isnt needed for hitting. So those (easily pleased) people who actually are content with the current system will be happy. There can even be an option to turn pitch guessing off to further simplify things for the simple people.
Anyway...tell me what you guys think...if you like it....bump it. You can cut and copy this to post on other forums...I dont care....you dont even have to give me any kind of credit. If you like some parts but not others...let me know...lets have a conversation that maybe the 2k people can hear....another name for this could be TOTAL BAT CONTROL HITTING
