Glavine is terrible, he is a #4 pitcher right now, why would be top 20 when he's barely even top 5 on his own team? He was only an 85 last year, so why would he go up?

As a Mets fan I will be honest, Delgado is not a 88, well not anymore at least.

I've always said team ratings need to be a bit more complicated. As far as the yanks, they need special head head ratings vs teams like the angels, which own them. As well as different ratings for when in the postseason, when they consistently fall apart.

Gee, I wonder who I would give the benefit of the doubt.

At best, they should be even only because of their track records. Putz' stuff is clearly better than 05, and he is just coming into his prime. Mo's stuff is clearly not as good as years ago, and as many pitchers his age, he is clearly on the downside of his career.

[quote=perezh;2038119314]Personally, I think the Phils and Dodgers should switch places in your rankings (and this is coming from a Mets fan).[quote]

            Wow...A Mets fan w/ a brain. (j/k)

I can't believe that Cole Hamels isn't a top 20 pitcher according to 2K's ratings.

Dontrelle Willis is an 87??? Did they not take into account his 2007 season? Rich Harden still in the top 20's?

How can guys like Carpenter and Liriano not take significant hits on their ratings due to coming off a major arm injury?

Sheets overall rating should go down for the simple fact that he hasn't started 30 games or pitched in 200 innings since 2004. I know he has electric stuff, but your ace is expected to pitch 30 plus games a year and eat up innings and there should be a significant hit to an overall pitchers rating due to durability.

I know Cole Hamels has injury problems too, but he has better control and stuff than Dontrelle or Harden or Young (who gets inflated stats for pitching 15 games at Petco).

I don't want to seem like a homer on this so I'll say that Verlander should be there too in the top 20 along w/ and probably Fausto too.

Holliday's is too low, Utley and Rollins are too low. Utley should be a 92-95. Rollins at least 90 ...W/ Hanley not far behind.

Looks like 2K just used the same ratings as last year. Let's hope that the inaccuracies in rating is all due to making vast improvements gameplay/franchise.

I think they are wrong. Players out of postion, ratings way off and obvious upgrades are not made. I'll wait for ign to post them.

Why, because of the Tejada comment? If he's ever found guilty of lying, chances are he won't be allowed to work in the U.S. You consider that a racist comment?

Let's see... he acknowledged the following players were under-rated: Pena, Morneau, Orlando Hudson, Brian Roberts, Rollins, Young, Matt Holiday, Jorge Posada, Justin Verlander, Brad Penny. Did you even actually read the article?

It's the same every year. Tampa Bay rated higher than the Rockies? I dunno.

Read The Fielding Bible. Its people that are qualified, not beat writers or people ESPN deems qualified to speak on their television shows. It doesn't need to be like it is with the mainstream media as far as sports go (ESPECIALLY baseball), but its like politics sometimes where if you want actual good info you gotta dig for it. There are a ton of good sabermetric papers out there, and publications if you look hard enough.
I don't need people on TV or in book to tell me what I see with my own two eyes. The guy is without a doubt one of the slickest fielders in baseball. 140 assists form a 1B is remarkable. Just a quick check on baseballreference and the closest I could find was Pujols at 124. It really is a testament to the guy's range and his ability to make plays that other 1B simply can't make.

That doesnt factor in the fact that he is rated an 20 or 100....it was no need for that....
