Yeah, I really couldn't care less about that card system.

Re: Hands-on at Gamespot
But didnt 2K say they were looking at the boards among other things to see what the people playing the game want. I remember all these other issues being repeated to death but not once did I read something saying. "OMFG why is there no trading cards"Comment

Re: Hands-on at Gamespot
I'm sure the card system was an idea from Marketing or something. They probably signed a deal with Upper Deck or something. I'm sure that many at 2k were more concerned with creating a better game, but sometimes you just have to do what is asked of you. For someone at 2k who probably wanted to work on better bat sounds or crowd ambiance they got stuck working on a card system.

Re: Hands-on at Gamespot
I wouldnt mind the card system if the circumstances were different. If this game was like The Show and had its gameplay and details down pat and wanted to just add a little meat to the bones that would be fine. But 2K8 is still a ways from that. This seems to me like something like that should of been saved untill year 3 of the 3 year plan for turning this game around.Comment

Re: Hands-on at Gamespot
the trading card thing seems to be what Brinkman gets most excited about, lol, i guess marketing told him he better, one thing that i was really hoping they would add but from the look of all the videos they didn't was the option to turn off the ball icon when pitching, that just makes it to easy to am

Re: Hands-on at Gamespot
to me, the card feature seems like added incentive to play franchise mode
I mean not only does it make me want to play it more, it'll have some replay value after I play a 20 year franchise
Not to mention it allows online fantasy teams, which I believe is the goal of the cards in the first place.Joe Girardi # 27Comment

Re: Hands-on at Gamespot
Like it or not, the "hardcore" sim crowd is a small percentage of the market. Thus, we get games that are "mostly sim" but also try to be "fun to play".....
It's just the way it is.......Comment

Re: Hands-on at Gamespot
2 things jumped out at me while reading this thread...
The quote about the pitching meter--"let go too late and it will go in the dirt, let go too early and it will go high"--sounds way too much like the fielders throwing meter and I am calling this one a mix up.
And the quote about the hitters eye being used as a cursor to hit...I am gonna call that one as pure bs.
If anything can be mentioned as half-*** then I would have to say this gamespot hands-on is it.Comment
