"game informer" tidbit from 2k sports forum.

Default Just got my Game Informer and it previews 2k8
There is an interesting comment made in the article (pg. 74) in the first paragraph. It says:
    Quote:

Then readdressing that issue in the second to last paragraph of the article it says:
    Quote:

Perhaps this is the reason why we haven't heard anything recently about a demo or what not. The problem may not be 2K's afterall. It just may in fact be Microsoft. But come, should that really surprise us?

There are some really nice pictures in this article as well. One is of Gil Meche in his windup about to pitch. There is another one of Alfonso Soriano apparently going yard. Four more of the pitching sequences. Manny Ramirez going deep. A picture of the baseball card album and then two other in game pics including one of the batter making contact with the ball.

Thanks. Good read. Although I don't think it has anything to do with not having a demo released yet.

I'm not confused here. The good news is that they used up a whole disc and still had more content than the original disc would hold so the rest will be available for download on day 1. No problem there that I can see. Gotta love what the internet has done for the console gaming world.

Basically, the cool base unis and classic stadiums couldn't fit on the disc (but presumably could on the larger capacity ps3 disc. So to compensate, the jerseys and stadiums will be downloadable. This isn't horrible news, but it certainly isn't good. It basically means users without Live will not have the same game as users with Live and PS3 owners. And us live owners will have to devote HD space to something that takes up zero space for PS3 owners. But, this really mostly effects those without Xbox Live.

Bigger isnt always better. I rather have very little content but have it near perfect.

Yeah, too bad Microsoft didn't try to get some of that action. I might have to get a PS3 just for sports games if this is going to start becoming a trend...

I just received my issue of GI. The article also says batting has also received attention.

"Last year, players could only make contact on three different frames, whereas this year, the window of hitting has expanded to 12 to 16 frames."

Essentially, they say it causes more foul balls and realistic at bats.

That's good to hear of the batting, Cause I've seen some of the at-bats the show is capable of and oh boy are they brilliant.

As for the downloadable content, Isn't the biggest question : Is it gonna cost Money (Microsoft Points)

Sorry for my ignorance here but what does that mean "contact on 12-16 frames?

                        kush-

                        AI ? for you

when playing as my red sox...not once did i ever see that 'horeshoe D' implemented against ortiz (the d where the 2b plays shallow RF and the 3B plays SS )

did that get addressed in the game?

(i realize it's not every team that does that against the sox or even when there are baserunners but i did notice it in The Show demo)
Bummed that you're not on my ignore list yet?.....Don't worry, I'm sure you will be very soon.

Microsoft and their outdated DVD9-based console FTL. I like some things about my 360, this is not one of them. We all know by now that every next-gen console is going to have BR in it - down the road why not offer a BR repalcement for the external HD-DVD drive? Would Sony be that petty as to not allow it? That'd be depressing.

Kush, I cant wait for MLB 2k8. It kinda stinks as a 360 customer i have to pay for extra content. I rather do game situations like all-star baseball to get extra content. I know this game will be fun and hopefully MLB 2k9 will be the best game ever including batting practice, side sessions for starting pitchers, umps with their own strikezones and a sweet stadium experience. Finally I just hope they nailed the stadium design for Citi Field in MLB 2k9 because the model for shea stadium is three to four years old. Thanks for your insight Kush.
