I hope people have finally learned not to trust those clowns at the 2Ksports forums that love announcing their insider info (bad grammar and all).

Super Famicom titles were 70 bucks at TRU the year it came out. I was the only kid on my entire street that had Mike Tyson's Punch Out when it came out because it cost so much money. No, we weren't rich - I just begged and pleaded, and my Dad (bless him) understood the value of video games for me. I'm the same way with my kids today.

I guess my point is that 60 bucks isn't that much for a video game, considering. I am, however, past the point where I'd shell out $450 bucks to play The Show or any single title.

Best game ever created was only 20$, ESPN NFL 2k5.

Agreed. I felt guilty paying that much for that game. It was almost like robbery.

Hopefully it will. I have to go to the dentist and the best cure for that would be having the demo out when I got back. *crosses fingers*

considering that Mlb08's demo has been out for so long its really nothing short of amazing that 2k did not release a demo.

This is the same tactic as last year only to release a couple of days after it hit the streets ( lame, makes me think something is wrong with game so fans run out to just buy the game )

I am losing faith in 2k.

Once again I will reiterate the facts. The demo was submitted for approval to Sony and Microsoft over a week ago. It is no longer in 2K's hands. So blaming 2K for there being no demo is unfounded.

Perhaps 2K could have been a bit more 'urgent' (preparing the demo earlier) on their end?

People like yourself just want it all. We have no idea the stage of the demo then. I'm sure if they released an unfinished crippled version of a demo, that would bide well with the naysayers too. Right? We want the demo now, they won't release it, they should have done it earlier, we have no idea how the provess works, what we want should always be what we get, I want my lollipop.

No offense to you personally as this post if for countless others. We just don't know the stage of the demo 2 weeks ago, so being "urgent" may have not been the wisest choice. If they released a crud demo that had faults, everyone would be crying even more.

If Sony has the demo in hands, then why isn't it ready for download? Oh wait...who publishes the Show? That's right...my bad...it's Sony. Why would they want direct competition to compare when their 1st party efforts have been sluggish? (based on amount) They wouldn't. As for Microsoft...I have no idea as their demo releases and strategy has never made sense.

Does 2k have special rules for submitting demos that don't apply to other games? Because it seems to me that crap-fests like America's Army, as well as legitimate sports titles like EA's NHL 08 managed to get their demos online weeks in advance of release!

No, they're not morally obligated to put a demo out, but I just find it funny that all the fanatics on this site are running to pay $60 because "Ben Brinkman told us this..." and "Ben Brinkman told us that..." (XOXO). Well, here are two other things BB told us.

                      1) That the fielding in his last game, MLB 2k7, "blows" (this coming only a month after that game's release

                      2) That we were getting a demo in mid-February in advance of the March 4th release.

All I'm saying is: If a game publisher isn't inclined to tell the truth about some things, why do you hang on their every word when they make assurances about how much better the gameplay will be?

Not sure I agree with this assessment. Some speculate that the demo will now hit the day before release. Hmmmm....the very same time it did last year. If it does hit Monday then I guess that it just a coincedence? I believe 2K has say over when the demo is put up when they submit it.

There may be some marketing strategy here that only 2K knows. Even if this is not the case 2K can still be blamed for not submitting the demo in a timely enough manner so it could be put up prior to now. Don't give me that "they used the time to code the game or whatever". The "other" game developer had less time to work on their game this past year than 2K did (that game was released late last year) and that demo was up two weeks ago.

I plan on getting the game but this will make me take a little closer look befor plopping down my 60 bucks.

Urgent? That's funny... as if it's a matter of life and death. The demo comes when it comes. What percentage of 360 owners do you think obsessively check the demo page? What percentage of 360 owners do you think even know the release date of this game and that a demo is even on the way? The truth is, it's not an "urgent" matter.

I really can't believe how "men" (I say men because I assume most people here are at least 18) will behave like spoiled little girls when they don't get what they want exactly when they want it.

                          Reminds me of:

This amazes me. 2k went through the same process for NBA 2k8 that they had to go through now, not to mention that EA is also not the same entity as Microsoft, and they've gotten demos out in advance as well.

My question is: Why isn't there the same hatred for MLB 2k8 that there is on Operation Sports for the Madden series. For 360 owners, The Show is not an option, so the exclusive license, for all intents and purposes, IS exclusive. Madden doesn't put out demos in advance of its release because it's an exclusive title with name recognition and people are going to buy it anyway. Same with MLB 2k8...the idea that this game has already sold more copies than All-Pro Football did in its entire lifespan is disturbing.

A Veruca Salt analogy? How clever. The only problem is that darling Veruca never paid $60 for anything in her whole life...it was Daddy's money. No, I don't have a "right" to a demo, but if 2k wants my money, they need to convince me that their product is worth it.

"Grown men" don't like to blow money that they work hard to earn, particularly when they've been misled, and don't have enough information to go on. It's not "pouting", it's called being a smart consumer, something I'd encourage everyone here to be.

Did you ever think that people might be intrigued by the new mechanics? Did you ever think that no one ever said the demo WILL be released in mid-febuary? What was exactly lied about? I mean, while he did come up front about his impressions on 2K7 in that short month, when reading the interview about his plans on 2K8, they add up with his potential direction that he said was focus for this game. I can't wait for this game to be released so we can simply move on.
