If you are hitting too many HRs try upping the step influence slider. That way you have to make a well timed step to hit one out.

Yeah, the step influence slider works great. Really have to get your timing down for nice hits. Would definetly suggest giving this a shot if you have not.

pretty much what it might come down to is to manually edit each player to lower their HR power, i mean that would def fix the HR problem.

Besides Pitcher Difficulty Slider, Power Slider, Contact Slider, Skill Slider and Both Step Sliders to adjust we all have to keep in mind on both ends it's the pitching.

You pitch bad you pay for it thats sim!

Now about User Hitting, well lets face it the AI Pitching sucks *** with to many K's thrown but also to many stupid *** pitches like High Hanging Curves, Sliders, Sinkers and plenty down the middle with All AI Pitching Sliders set to 0!

Over all the hitting is GREAT but we need a patch for CPU to pitch smarter and miss more often.

Seems to me when I do get a game where the pitcher misses allot the Ump gives him the call anyway!

Oh man, I just got done playing two games against the Blue Jays...They freakin' CRUSHED me!In both games they got 10-12 hits in one inning. Most of the my pitches were executed perfectly too...It seemed like I was being forced to lose.

I even lowered A.I Power by 5 clicks before game one. Then I lowered it by 5 more clicks before game two.

            Something isn't right!

Reduce the power ratings to around 10-15. HR problem solved, same fix as last year's too.

Unless you can time your step perfectly every time, upping that slider will turn some of those homers into doubles off the wall, pop outs, and grounders.

I agree with what you're saying about the CPU pitching. It's horrid.

Paying for bad pitches is SIM however, what isn't SIM, is when I give up 4-6 hits a game, strike out 6-8 a game and at least half of the hits are HRs. I know how to pitch. Recently, I played as Toronto in Texas. I won the game 5-2 and there were 5 solo shots in the game. That's a problem. If it was just one game, I wouldn't have started the thread, but I see this a lot.

Re: Bottom Line: Still too many HRs

I'm playing on All-Star with no changes to the CPU's offense and I'll see a game that I give up 3 homeruns but then come right back and give up one or none in the next game.

I guess it just hasn't been something I consider a huge problem.

Are you playing exhibition or franchise?

My concern with exhibition is whether or not power ratings might be "jacked" up a bit.

I've played against the Brewers twice in exhibition and Fielder has lit me up for 3 homeruns in those two games. That's not entirely bad but it still has me cringe a bit. Two seperate games and both times he takes me deep on tough pitches.

I like having to worry about big hitters but over the course of the season I don't want to give up half of Fielder's homeruns in the 18 games we might play if I was say, the Reds, in a season.

I just wonder if perhaps things even out over 162 games in a franchise.

I've said this in another thread. I was in this EXACT same boat and getting pretty disgusted frankly.

Then I dropped the pitch speed slider and a new world opened up for me. I now see typically 0-2 HR's from the CPU a game. Same for me.

Interesting. With the pitch speed lower are you still getting a wide variety of hits likes doubles and triples? When I first got the game I had the pitch speed at 40. I could still hit HRs, but I also hit way too many soft ground balls and lazy fly balls. I fixed that problem by moving the pitch speed slider to 55.

You nailed it on the head man!! Pitch bad you pay for it. On both ends. The CPU should pitch smarter. I really don't get why they throw sliders low and away (which is smart and a great spot) and then come back with a changeup high and in. Or a curveball high and in. It's not like they are mistake pitches either because my catcher calls for these pitches as well. I'm sorry but breaking balls are NEVER aimed high in the zone intentionally.

I think lowering the meatball slider down to 0 so CPU barely throws meatballs could possibly help with the ease of hitting all these HR's. I am finding less balance as well. Most of my runs are coming off the long ball. Unfortunatley the fix might have to be in players ratings and not sliders but there are so many sliders we could get the right fix.

Home runs are not a problem for me. I have the power setting at 0.

Yes I see them. I see doubles, even triples sometimes. I would recommend lowering pitch speed to 40. Then if you need to, up the batting skill as needed.
