You guys are right, it was analog controlled but the was the same for every pitch type.

The concept behind the system is extremely simple. Players pick their pitch with one of the face buttons (or the R1, if the pitcher has five pitches in their repertoire). From there, players choose where they want to place the ball within the strike zone with the left analog stick before they enter their wind up. This placement affects where the ball will land in the target area within the pitch meter. However, instead of hitting a button to determine the power and the accuracy of the pitch, you use the right analog stick to control these aspects.

Players pull down on the right analog stick to start your wind up, initially setting the amount of power the ball will have as it leaves the pitcher's hands. As soon as the ball reaches the green area of the meter, players push up and towards the ball icon in the target area of the pitch meter. The closer the pitch cursor gets to the ball in the pitch meter, the more accurate the pitch will be, and the more likely the ball will go exactly where you want it to. Aim away from target area or graze the icon and you'll find the ball start to get away from your pitcher.

I think they need to go back and add this step. I think as a pitcher, you should select the pitch you want before execution.

First off, it mimicks the real life order of events a pitcher goes through.

Secondly, it give the pitcher an option to shake off a pitch and get on the same page as the catcher. Currently there is no way to shake off a pitch and people have speculated that throwing a different pitch than the one the cather has called for will result in a boost to the AI hitte. This would negate that arcady rule (hopefully).

Finally and most importantly, at the very least, if they decide to keep the stupid "meatball" the result will at least be a pitch in the same velocity range as the pitch you selected. At least if you choose to throw a knuckleball and mess up, the computer will know your intentions and throw a 59MPH meatball instead of a 90MPH meatball.

Also, when pitching from the stretch, the visual would be realistic as well:
-Pitcher stares in and gets his sign
-PItcher comes set
-Pitcher delivers.

Currently you start in the set position, which is just bad baseball. Though, it does speed up the game, which I'm sure Mr. 15 Minute Brinkman wanted to accomplish.

Didnt Mlb 2k5 had that zone hitting thing i forgot what its called. Its like a hot zone can become cold vice versa. They should bring that back. Yeah get rid of the meat ball. And please make they Ai steal i miss gunning them down. Man i really hope mlb2k9 step since brinkman is done thank god he was a failure. Like Dr.Jone says "Buyers Beware" because some developers are snakes and bs their way to get ur money *cough madden cough*:wink:. Damn does anyone have any cough drops.

I havent been on these boards too often since the release of the 2 main baseball games, hearing now that Brinkman is fired or left or whatever is great news. this guy actually looked and talked like a ****** but I thought maybe just maybe he was a hardcore nerd who could really do some good considering his backround with MVP but nope he's a tard after all
MVP 05 is overrated I agree, guess what beats it 08 THE SHOW not by much but it really does. plus being 3 years later you would think the show AND 2k8 would beat MVP

I don't really understand how MVP became the holy grail of baseball. People talk about MVP like it was this sacred franchise. Nobody ever remembers the lefty glitch in MVP 04 where it was impossible to hit home runs with any lefty, even Babe Ruth. There are plenty of glitches in MVP 05, like when you update your rosters online you cant use Owner mode or those batting mini-games.

It came at a time where 2k Baseball was weak, but come on, this is EA we're talking about, what were the odds of them translating their success to next-gen? MLB 2K8 is essentially MVP 08, sloppiness included.

In terms of control responsiveness, no game has matched it since.

And yes, I think The Show 08 is a better game. But to ignore what made the game so great is being a bit naive... Hell, it is STILL the only game to have personalized follow-through's (on this side of the Atlantic, anyway).

It's not like people are saying "OMG MVP's coaching feature is unmatched!" It's about the gameplay, and if you're pointing to off the field issues that just shows how great the game was on the field.

Oh, and let's not forget people's refusal to get a PS3 to play the best baseball game out that is exclusive to Sony's system.

Good thing I never updated my rosters online. But the reason I really liked it was because it was a really fun game of baseball that I could get roster updates for each season and saved me a lot of money when I played it over the 3 years I played it.

I think you have to go deeper than that.

The reason or reasons should be valid.

In my case, I have three kids with a built up library who love to play Uno and Halo 3 or whatever on line.

I'm not trading in the 360 just because there is one better game out there and sacrifice my children's enjoyment.

If I was single, different story. I'd trade in the 360 without even thinking about it.

What you just mentioned is actually making a simple concept difficult. I didn't mention anywhere for you to sell your 360; I simply pointed out the refusal of others to purchase the PS3.

And they're well within their right to do so. However, if you have the funds and want a solid baseball game it is an option.
