Don't know if it's been mentioned, but a little thing NOT in the game is ballgirls/boys.

The batboy coming to get the bat is cool, and I like the difference in size between the ballboy and players BUT no ballgirls/boys?

      - Pitch in the dirt, batter waves his hand to the runner telling him to go or stay. The runner usually listens. When the batter waves to take the extra base, I noticed the runner in fact went.

      - Threw a shutout, the announcers kept mentioning it for the last 2-3 innings, and started counting down the outs in the 9th.

      - CPU threw down a suicide squeeze on me. Pretty cool.

      - Two foul balls hit into the crowd, announcers mentioned that the crowd was having a good day in the field or something similar.

11 pages that's good but to tell you the truth there really aren't that many little things in 2k9. Yeah there are some cool things you will see and hear but it's not like your going to see something new every game you play because 2k just doesn't stride in doing the little things like scea does.

It's not anything to be worried about, because Visual Concepts' NHL and NBA 2K9 have the little things "on lock". I think this year, VC concentrated on improving some bigger elements of the engine. Most of the little oversights and flaws in this title should ideally be gone by next year, so as VC further refines this engine, the little things should begin to appear. No big deal IMO.

How about a listing of the little things MISSING in 2k9 that were in 2k8 or even 2k7...

            1. Batters Box gets "wiped out" during the course of the game.
            2. Signature ballpark animations (Phillies Liberty Bell, Minute Maid Train, Mets HR Apple, Bernie Brewer)
            3. Rain delays/rainouts/Doubleheaders
            4. Open/closed retractable roofs
            5. Minor league ballparks
            6. Playing double AA/Single A games
            7. Playing in any stadium at anytime you choose (menu selection choices missing)
            8. Wind blowing jerseys
            9. Call up written scorecard by pressing "LB"
            10 In game stat overlays
            11. Constant baserunning windows while ball in play

There are already approximately 406,271 threads for that. This is for the small glimmers of positive that some found. I'm sure you can find a thread more to your liking.

That's missing the point of the thread.

Anytime you hit a deep fly-ball (not just on homers), the crowd jumps to its feet. Pretty cool. Despite all its quirks, I honestly love this game. But I've always been a 'glass half-full' kind of guy. Life's too short to spend my energy angry about stupid stuff.

Steve (Fire Me) Phillips mentioned a great catch in the crowd and said next time he wanted to see the peanut guy make a diving catch.

Great atmosphere when you bring in your closer with a 1 run lead for the top of the ninth against the heart of the order. Everyone on their feet!

I saw a similar thing this morning. I was pitching a shutout complete game, in the ninth inning the announcers got excited, the pitcher was pumped after the first out(strikeout, he pumped his fist), and the crowds were on their feet getting really loud. Very exciting everything.

I, too, had the crowd standing up and applauding in the last half-inning of an extra-inning game at Citi Field. I had a one-run lead and called K-Rod to the mound...every fan in the stadium stood through his entire time on the mound. If that isn't pressure, I don't know what is.

Next year, though I hope that the crowd's audio matches the crowd's animations in big situations...NBA 2K does this impeccably, so hopefully we'll soon see the same attention to detail in MLB.

Last night I tried to throw out a Mets runner from RF with Nick Markakis' arm. He was safe, but it was close. Thorne said "he could have gotten fined if he had been out on that play; at least in a kangaroo court".

In fact, I've heard a lot of new lines of dialog the past couple of games (I'm mid-June in 1st season franchise). While there are plenty of miscues when it comes to the audio (inappropriate descriptions, etc.,) this is still the best team ever in a baseball game, IMO.

The commentary is truly terrific. There is some repetition, but it just sounds so damn natural, I don't care. I honestly think it may be the best commentary I've ever heard, period.
