    Re: The Little Things Thread

I really haven't had a homerun fest either. Pujols has hit 6 or 7 for me and Ludwick 1, and I have only given up 5 homeruns to the other team, 4 of those coming in my first game when I went back to the old pitching system and I was trying to figure it out. I have played 9 games so far, so those are pretty good numbers I think. Pujols is just a straight beast though.

Then why bother posting in a thread to those who do enjoy the game, and are dedicated to describing their experiences?

This thread was created for us to post the little things we like about the game, there is no need to come in here and bash the game.

Back on topic, I really like how the cpu subs in pitchers for match ups this year.
I was playing last night and the cpu subbed in 3 different pitchers in the 8th inning against me. He brought in a RH to face my RH, then LH to face my LH, and then went back to another RH to face my last RH.

I don't know if this counts as a 'little thing', but I love being able to play any other game in franchise mode. Coupled with that, I love that all the old school uniforms are available without having to jump through any hoops.

I can play a nice chunk of the games of my Orioles franchise but also jump in and play some of the 'big' games. Why, it's just like owning the 'MLB Extra Innings Package'!

Are there more or less number of throwback uniforms from last couple of years?
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

Looks to be about the same. I'm not sure, but there might be more of the cool base and alternate uniforms (like batting practice home and away unis).

Most teams have throwbacks that date to the 70s into early 80s, exactly the time frame I like. A few have ancient unis. The only one I really miss is that there's no 'Expos' variant for the Nationals.

However, for me the irony is that this year all the unis are unlocked but there is a roster limit. Otherwise I would have edited all the teams to their late 70s incarnations and replayed some glory days from my youth.

When you call a guy up from the minors and Gary and Steve congratulate him on his first major league hit and say they need to keep the ball and celebrate later after the game.

the coolest play happened to me. i had a runner on second, and proceeded to hit a ground ball to their shortstop. my guy on second took off for third, and the shortstop tried to tag him out. however, my guy proceeded to back juke and run around the shortstop, causing him to miss the easy tag. he had to throw to third to get the out. my guy dodging the tag actually prevented a double play. that was really awesome, as i have never seen this in another baseball game ever. i was like WOW!

Does the fact that check swinging finally works well count? I checked my swing the other day and hit a Moises Alou Special. The ball caught my bat and rolled weakly out in front of the plate for an easy out.
Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
                      Sutcliffe comes through, and....
Pa, see what you did to me?

ROF at mniner2003s little thing. I guess there aren't a lot of little things in this game. Nba 2k9 is all about the little things that add to the overall presentation from all the animations to the arena sounds. I wish there were more for this game though, but that was the funniest comment i have read all day.

Just saw a neat little thing in the last game I played (thought of this thread when I saw it, too, lol).

Anway, Orioles (me) at A's, guy on first 1 out. Soft grounder to the 2nd basement about 10 feet from the 2nd base bag. Just as the ball arrived at the fielder, so did my baserunner. The 2baseman tried to tag my runner who stopped, threw his arms back, and sucked in his gut to sort of back off from the tag in a quick hop (very realistic).

Missed tag. 2baseman gives up and throws to the SS on the 2-bag to get the force, relay throw not in time for the double thanks to my runner's little dance/avoidance. It should be noted that I did not touch any controls during all this; it was all AI controlled.

                              Neat.
