Same here.... While I wish the cursor changed size for each individual batter I still use it and like prefer it.

Re: How come more of you don't use cursor hitting?

I am loving this so far... 6 games into my 10 game series to decide if I go Cursor for my Franchise. Looking like I probably will. I did switch to the Classic hitting where instead of coordinating the Swing Stick and the Cursor, I can focus on trying to put the bat on the ball. I also am really getting a fair amount of satisfaction by seeing the curveball, and waiting on it, and taking it the opposite field for the hit. It seems better to me than the totally random hit generator that the swing stick seemed to portray, and the variety of hits that you get based on where you make contact, is astounding. I have seen hits that I never saw before, choppers, bloops, screaming singles up the middle... So far, I love it.

The cursor itself is flat out lame. Ugle and obnoxious... ought to be more transparent, and not block the view of the pitcher.

Other than that, excellent option to play with.

Re: How come more of you don't use cursor hitting?

You guys have convinced me to revert back to cursor. I initially started with the cursor on playing default All-Star sliders, and I was getting killed. I moved down to default Pro and was having decent success. After the patch, I heard good things about default All-Star sliders with zone hitting, so I switched to that. I think I'm going to have to move back down to Pro and turn the cursor back on.

Like stealyerface, I find the hit variety with the cursor turned on to be absolutely amazing.
Of course, if Dawson gets hot, and
        Sutcliffe comes through, and....

Re: How come more of you don't use cursor hitting?

The only issue I have still is the amount of strikeouts that plague my guys with me at the cursor controls, and the fact that I have to force myself to be patient and work the count. I still swing way too much, and I have actually resorted to setting the controller down in obvious take situations so that I am not tempted to swat at something I ought not to...

My other issue is that every infielder I play against seems to be the reincarnation of Brooks Freaking Robinson. Diving stops up the middle, circus over-the-shoulder catches running full speed towards the outfield, stopping an obvious ground ball hit, and then throwing a frozen rope across the diamond... The trouble is if I turn down the infielder speed, then the realistic movement is sacrificed. It isn't like they just slow down the guys, they slow the animation down with the speed slider, so you go from huge range to running in quicksand..

That aside, the hit variety is worth all the other stuff. There is something so rewarding about playing the guessing game with the cpu, and just knowing that next fastball is going to be down and away, and taking that ball opposite field for the gapper. I hit two homeruns with Youk the other night, and both were opposite field shots in Anaheim. The first was a no doubter line drive that he blasted to right center, and the other was a high fly ball that fought the wind, and barely cleared the fence. I still hate that the red arrow lets you know that the ball is gone, but.... when playing games where the wind is really blowing in from the outfield, I have seen the red arrow and figured it was gone, only to see the catch circle reappear whent he wind brings it back into the park at the track. Not sure if this was totally on purpose by the 2k team, but if so, a tip o' the hat for ye.

Can anyone pull the ball with Cursor Hitting? I like the IDEA of cursing hitting, and I try it out nearly every game I play, but I never seem to able to pull the ball. The CPU AI pitching lives on the outside part of the plate so every time I make contact, I just go with the pitch and poke the ball the other way. Anyone having any luck?

Re: How come more of you don't use cursor hitting?

It is all about timing with the cursor hitting. I have realized that the cursor is just where the ball makes contact with the bat, and then the timing of when you make the swing determines the pull/push of the contact.

Go to the Practice Mode and leave the bat where the default is when the pitcher starts his windup. Swing super early (you may miss a few until you figure out the speed) and your guy will pull the ball even though the cursor and ball are right int he middle. Now swing fairly late, and you'll see some weak balls go the other way. What I am loving about this Cursor hitting is that finally you have to have the bat positioned in the spot AND have to time that swing to make the contact you want. Trying to pull fastballs that are down and away finally result in the weak dribbler to the infield. One of my gripes last year was that David Eckstein could turn around a slider down and away, and hit it 400 feet. Yeah, well no he can't. So this requires you to be smart about what you are trying to do with the pitch you are given.

This game is so close and yet.... well, you know.

Re: How come more of you don't use cursor hitting?

I tried this tonight. I really like it. Really opened the hit strategy and really shows the difference in the talent of pitchers you are facing.

Also getting a lot more hit variety since I made the switch.

I have been playing this game as a change of pace to the show, and using cursor hitting has really opened up this game for me.

Re: How come more of you don't use cursor hitting?

I started out playing the PC version and have since bought the 360 version. The PC version is a good value for the price but so far I am really enjoying the 360 version. I have started using the hitting cursor like you mention here and it plays really smooth and nice. If you try to pull an outside pitch you will weakly ground out or pop out like you should. Much more hit variety as well. I still get tired of the outfield miscues but they don't seem to be as numerous on the console version. When you hit a home run you feel like you accomplished something.
Now if I could just figure out how to steal a dang base it would play a pretty good game of baseball. I was 0 for 6 last game and got good jumps every time.
