Great idea. It's never good when an easy fly ball turns into a triple. I hate being nervous on fly balls. I'll def. try this method. Just lost a 1 run game in the ninth with 2 outs and Joe Nathan pitching. ARRRGGH!!!

That's what I do. Note you have to watch with it however. They don't field well if you have to run to the ball. So you still have to remember to control them if they do that.

But it's when they are right under the circle that they drop it anyways. I haven't had any major errors since I've been hitting A to not control the fielder.

for me the issue is the fielders reaction to a hit ball in the out field,
Lot of times when the ball is hit my fielder is not moving he is just standing there, after a delay he starts to run towards the ball but
by that time he reacts to the ball it's too late, what should have been an out or single turned into a 2b/3b or even inside the parker.
Also as of my last few games i've been having issues
with my outfielders when controlling them to run towards the ball the
fielder that i'm controlling keeps on diving and i'm not even pressing
the dive button, if I try to select another fielder he too starts diving.
what is missing is the fielder reaction slider, it need to be put back in
the game

Its there just raise your outfielders anticipation slider in player edit

I have randy winn with about 90 or so rating and he still makes half of the errors. or really non errors because the game doesn't call these misplays errors.

its more than the anticipation sliders. Its the actual position sliders.
Ive found that when players have a fielding rating in the 70s, they tend to have more errors.
people need to pay attention of the players secondary position, especially if you don't micro manage the lineups.

Ive had times where Jason Bay would play right field and he'll have several errors in a game. His right field rating is I believe 75, as opposed to left field where its rated at 100..

I thought you guys were joking, but holy shat, the fielding in this game IS terrible. I rented it Friday to test it out for a possible purchase and it is just downright atrocious. Worst baseball game EVER as far as fielding goes.

I've seen enough of the following things in my three day span of playing that I'm about ready to go fricking MENTAL..

- Outfielder's dropping a catch (happens to me ONCE per game, at least)
- Outfielder lines up in the circle, only to have the ball drop right next to him or behind him
- Outfielder takes a horrible angle to a ball hit to the gap and it rolls to the wall
- Catchable fly ball is hit, but the outfielder starts running like he's in quicksand and it drops before I can get to it.
- Soft grounder is hit, third baseman or short stop fail to charge the ball and its an infield single.
- Grounder is hit to infielder who gets all herky jerky and is hard to control, allowing the ball to either go by or causing you to get to it too late to do anything.
- Line drive hit to second baseman, who starts running AWAY from the ball. I get control of him and turn him around, it's already too late.

Just some off the top of my head that I've seen so far.

The only thing that really irks me is when an infield hit is made and my infielder has to make a move to his right or left. The cpu controls the first movement, but the second movement when I take control is herky jerky and not fluent at all. It throws my guy off, and alot of hits that shouldn't be hit make it through.

have you tried locked? it helps on a few of these. but not the slow down. it seems the game wants the cpu to have a hit and there is nothing you can do.

I really feel these issues start when your team gets rattled. my offs play like willy mays and then once i give up a few runs they play like morons. the bottom line is that i sort of cheat and start saving the game in the 4th. i don;t mind losing but not on cheap plays. so, if my of has one drop on his head in the 9th then i just reload. but if my ss boots a grounder i will probably let it stand though.

fielding is definitly the worst part of this game. I just played a game against the Rays and the fielding problems cost my team at least 3 runs.
