Does editing the salary ranges effect trades? Does the CPU actually make some trades or not?

Does the game increase team budget year to year based on your performance? Also, does the CPU actively try and dump budget with trades, etc.?

It did last year, as I only controlled 4 teams but had begin editing budgets in season 2 and was receiving offers from the Angels and other teams w/ a negative amount of avl funds.

I'm controlling all-30 teams this year though....

Yes - The game will increase the budget based on attendance I believe, which I guess is driven by performance. Again don't know if the CPU is doing what I remember it doing in MLB2K9.

So does this mean that you are actively signing free agents, proposing, rehecting and accepting trades, setting line-ups, etc. for each and every team?

I really applaud the efforts of those of you trying to figure this out.

But isn't it really frustrating and pretty ridiculous that we pay $60 for a game then have to do this enormous amount of work and maintenance to bring it up to an adequate level? I buy games to play and have fun, and having to spend hours and hours fixing stuff that should have been right in the first place isn't playing or having fun. I feel like I'm paying 2K money so they will let me do chores.

Before you get too crazy changing all the contracts. You might want to notice that they're all consistently 20% lower than real life... just like last year.

Yes, for the first year that works.

The problem though, is that budgets don't reflect that 20%. Thus, teams always have surplus budget... which in turn results in absolutely worthwhile free agents at the end of the year.

Man after reading the first page of this....why on earth would ANYONE buy this game?

Its ridiculous, I was sooo close to getting this game, but just 20 min in this and 2k forums....forget it.

But then again in all my years I have NEVER even finished 1 season in a baseball game.

So if you only play 1, I guess your ok.

But man....so much negativity about this game.

So I edited all of my rosters contracts last night. It took me a good 5 hours or so. Some teams it pushed into the negative(Angels for one) but others, like the Yankees, still seemed to have a bit of a surplus.

Now if a team is only 5 or 6 million within it's budget, will that still force them to push some guys to free agency in the offseason?

I will obviously be editing the contracts in the next season as well to make sure that anyone who WAS re-signed, has a contract fitting of their abilities.

Yea this is embarassing. You guys want to see this fixed? Do what I'm doing, ask for a refund and cite this as a reason. There is clearly zero effort that goes into quality testing (in all games now, but especially in this instance.)

The problem is that the AI logic is broken. I also edited a lot of contracts (all free agents from 2007 on and all re-signings this year) and the CPU teams still didn't offer realistic contracts but the players signed. The ONLY player that got offered a realistic contract was Joe Mauer at 22+ mil for 7 years. Derek Lee got a whopping 5 mil a year to re-sign with the Cubs. Pujols re-signed for 15-16 mil a year (about half of what is expected in real life) with the Yankees. Not only do players re-sign for much smaller contracts, they re-sign period. The free agency is a joke. There might be one maybe two players rated 80 or higher.

I understand all that...but by restructuring their contracts to real life values, won't the CPU teams HAVE to cut people because they simply won't have enough room to sign people even if they are offering them much lower contracts then usual?

So is actually doing all this work worth it? Or is it still broken?
