Re: MLB 2K10 Features List
That was because of the gestures, not the aiming. If you nailed your gesture (which was quite easy using 2K9's default system...2K8's was much better IMO) the ball went exactly where you aimed it. The meatball stuff is another story...lol.
I don't think it matters much. The average crowd doesn't seem to mind pinpoint control (in fact prefers it). As long as they allow for adjustments via sliders, we should be fine.Comment

Re: MLB 2K10 Features List
Exactly, after a short amount of time I had no problems making perfect pitches every time. It was completely unrealistic and arcadish and a big part of that which ruined the game for me. To seemingly not see any change made to this is a huge disappointment. The thing I hate about the gestures is that once you nail them, it's way to easy to pitch with Greg Maddux-like precision, even with scrub pitchers.
We've had lengthy discussions on this in the past. Trevytrev11 has some great insights on how the 2K pitching system is too easy to nail your spots. Look up some of his old posts. Highly recommended.Steam: BahnzoComment

Re: MLB 2K10 Features List
The relatively small feature list gives me hope the team spent the majority of the time fine-tuning and improving the overall baseball feel and gameplay. I eagerly await more screens and movies.Comment

Re: MLB 2K10 Features List
^^Absolutely this!!! I'm not expecting the amount of features that The Show has. What has to be done is focus on the foundation that 2K9 established, by ironing out the bugs, hiccups and other problems that plagued it. This needs to be handled 2K7 style. 2K7 brought nothing revolutionary feature wise but was a HUGE step up from the disastrous 2K6. PRIORITIES FIRST, EVERYTHING ELSE AFTERWARDS. I pray that's the case this year! The Signature of New YorkComment

Re: MLB 2K10 Features List
It seems as if every 2k baseball game has this pinpoint accuracy and not only is it boring and unrealistic they advertise it as though it's what gamers want.

Re: MLB 2K10 Features List
I am looking foward to this years game. I am Both a 360 & PS3 owner. I enjoy both games. I took 2K off last year, but at certain points throughout the baseball season I found myself fiening for 2K baseball. Call me crazy, right?
I am always a Career guy at heart & 2K Career mode has been my ultimate gaming dream. Because its far better than EA sports Career modes. IMO
The features listed in this & the (IGN) hands on are refreshing but not completely new. Biggest ups are : MLB Today, My Player. Add these with the new/improved animations. More realistic sim style pitching and better AI. & NO ROSTER LIMITATIONS and I will be a happy man this spring/summer.Catch Madden 15/ NBA 2k15 Footage on my Twitch Channel

Re: MLB 2K10 Features List
It's also not black and white. There is some gray mixed in there. Ratings etc. play a role, not to mention situational things. In 2K7, if the game was on the line, and you had guys on base, the little ball cursor would insanely twitch. That was because of the gestures, not the aiming. If you nailed your gesture (which was quite easy using 2K9's default system...2K8's was much better IMO) the ball went exactly where you aimed it. The meatball stuff is another story...lol.

They just need to find the balance in it all. Sure, a pitcher gets nervous, maybe even chokes, but to have the cursor go nuts like that is unrealistic. To have a pitch become a meatball because you didn't hit the gesture is also unrealistic. 2K took the meatball out last year but they also took out one of the gestures.
They just need to get a good balance in there. Give it some depth. Don't just say, "Well if he can't hit his gesture, MEATBALL and out of the park."Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment

Re: MLB 2K10 Features List
I love NBA Today. It's basically a different way of presenting Exhibition games, but infusing it with commentary and stat overlays based on what's occuring in real-life. In the NBA Today it's really deep; the commentators will comment on things like the last game the teams played, the last time the two teams playing met, players that are playing well or awful, winning/losing streaks, etc. There are also stat overlays that show real life/real-time team/player statistics, overlays that are holiday-themed based on the date, etc. It really takes Presentation to another level and adds a ton to playing Exhibition games.
Then there's the whole 'nother level of [MLB] Today being integrated into the person's Franchise mode. Then all the real-time commentary and stat overlays are geared towards what's really occurring in the individual's Franchise mode. It's a really deep/amazing innovation. Can only hope it's done as well in MLB as it is in NBA2K10HBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: MLB 2K10 Features List
Ratings played too small a factor though, which is the problem. You could hit your spots far too often with a Daniel Cabrera (my benchmark for "all over the place"...lolIt's also not black and white. There is some gray mixed in there. Ratings etc. play a role, not to mention situational things. In 2K7, if the game was on the line, and you had guys on base, the little ball cursor would insanely twitch.

) if you hit your gestures. Maybe not "black and white" but that gray area was awefully small.
If they tuned ratings to matter more, then great...it should be less an issue for sure. We obviously don't know enough yet either way.
I 100% agree about the shaky cursor thing and Meatball pitches completely. Meatballs were one of my biggest gripes with the pitching in 2K7/2K8. If you miss your spot it should miss, NOT a 65 mph floater down the pipe. Maybe selecting the pitch button beforehand in this new mechanic will help with that, but I have my doubts. The pitching (in terms of control) was one of the bright spots in 2K9 IMO. Hopefully they focused on AI logic, ratings influence, etc. so that the pitcher/batter matchup is more true-to-life.Comment
