Re: ChaseB's MLB 2K10 Thread (Updates in First Post)

Hopefully it doesn't hinder the experience. Possible slider fix maybe?

I was able to get a triple with Granderson and Cano in the demo, but just slid under the tag. I'm more concerned with the lack of control on my fielders, so hopefully that can be fixed.

Thanks for answering my questions Chase.

I was going to do a home "test" by renting the game before I buy it. (I have a thread about bugs from 2K9 going over at 2K forums)

A lot of people are concerned about bugs

      Here is my test I was going to do;

-I'm going to intentionally hit batters and see if my pitchers gets booted or warned. Last year you could beam the entire team if you wanted.
-Last year if you traded someone they turned into a generic bald white appearence on field, even if they were Hispanic, Black or Asian or whatever. I'm going to trade some guys and see if that still happens.
-I'm going to sim through an off day and see if players properly recover fatigue.
-I'm going to see if contract negotiations are even possibe mid season, since last year you could not.
-I'm going to see if every generated rookie in the draft is 5'6" like last year. (That was a funny one.)
-I'm going to get a player injured, then sim till he has 1 days left on his injury, and see if he gets stuck as injured forever like last year.
-Im going to promote some AAA to the majors mid-season and see if their AAA stats come with them, last year AA AAA and MLB stats would all mix together as you promoted/demoted guys. Stats for each league should be seperate!
-I'm going to sim to year 2 in a franchise. Last year CPU teams only bothered to fill 22 rosters spots after the first season. I have no idea why this happened last year, but Im going to check for that too.

If you can try any of these it would be much appreciated.

Here is the complete bug list from 2K9

      Please!!?

The only thing holding me back form buying this game is that I'm worried it might be a bug fest like last year.

Other than that the answers look good, I like what I'm seeing. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

That depends on what effect a 0 would have on the strength of throws. It remains to be seen if the arm strength can be edited in such a way as to still differentiate between players with strong and weak arms.

My take is that this is the real glaring issue with the game. I also feel like this can be fixed fairly simply. What it will come down to is just how much this will affect everything else.

Also, is this an issue on primarily Pro difficulty. Could it be on All-Star the throws are tamed down to make it more difficult to throw a guy out?

The game drops in three days. Giving a guy a list of bugs to check of you in so little time, when it is clear that he is putting the game through the paces already is kind of a tall order.

We all like perfect games, even if they don't exist. But part of the fun of getting a game is putting it through its paces and finding the weaknesses of the game. I've had to do this with EVERY SINGLE sports game I have ever played.

If knowing what every issue is with a game before you own it is that important, you are going to have to wait a few weeks for the thousands of others of us to put some time into it. There will be reports galore. But it is a tall task for one guy.

Hopefully roster edits or a patch could fix the arm speeds.

I would think just a roster edit from living rosters can handle this. Well I hope anyway...

My thinking as well. And if the MLB Today is like the NBA Today feature, then the user will get the latest roster every time they fire up the game, and log in. It's really a good feature in NBA 2K10.

                We shall see though...

                  God no.

Baseball games take way too long as it is. I want as much of that stuff cut out in the online game as possible. We had games going for over and hour last year. you throw that stuff back in, and it will seriously ad 30-45 minutes to games.

Maybe for pick-up games in which both players agree. No way for league or ranked games.

Game length is one of the biggest issues for baseball. They are easily the longest (in videogame play), and have the least amount of action.
Agreed but i still think it should be left up to the user what presentation they want to skip thru instead of just taking it all out completely. I mean MLB 2K7 had it online and all u had to do was skip the scene by pushing (A).

What it depends on is just how the ratings are developed. In NHL 10, players are rated on a 50 point scale, and then have 50 points added to their scores. So a 78 rated player is actually a 28 rated player. A 68 rated player is only 18. On a 50 point scales, those 10 points are a lot. There may not be as much room to cut as we think. Especially is a 0 rated player still has an efficient arm. How much room will there be to differentiate the the varying arm strengths.

But this is all conjecture. I'm just offering some reasons that roster edits may not be enough.

Chase or anyone if I missed it does MLB 2k10 have real Sliders that work 100 % ? not vague ones , like if you move power to 0 will you not see any homeruns ? as I really prefer slider based games blended with my skill level .
Thanks and this game is looking better and better oh and does MLB Today feel anything like NBA 2k ?

I agree completely. After playing the demo, this is one area where 2K really struggled. All players have cannon arms... Infield speed is so fast. I DID almost throw a runner out at first on a base hit to LEFT field.

I wish sliders would address this... I read in a blog that you can edit the throwing strength for players, but I kind of doubt that this will do anything to help.

Hopefully this is something that can be patched, because I believe it's going to be one of the biggest gripes with the game this year. It's just way too unrealistic.

It's Zumaya from Detroit!! And I'm trying to decide between the Show and 2K10 so I'm giving 2K10 some love. I usually pick an avatar that depicts the current game I'm playing or going to be playing. I may end up changing it back. I'll know sometime next week.

Oh, ****, yah, I suppose had I looked a little closer and noticed the huge D on his jersey I would have caught that... whoops
