This is more a franchise question, and I"m not sure how much you have delved into on it, but here goes.

Can you give a general summary on the free agent and trade logic in the game, maybe try some trades and see if they make sense? Also, can you check the team budgets to see if they are in line with real life or at least require you to use some logic in who you sign, etc.

That's my main problem with franchise in other sports games is it's too easy to just buy and trade whoever you want.

I'll answer more questions tomorrow, but just wanted to say this before going to bed:

I played an online game tonight against local douche and forum admin Millennium. First, let's get this out of the way, I trounced him. As the White Sox I struck him and his lowly Orioles out 23 times with Jake Peavy.

Pathetic.

I also mauled Brian Matusz, which clearly shows he's a bust-o prospect in the making (fight me Orioles fans).

Ouch.

Matusz is still going to win AL Rookie of the Year this year though.

PS, OFer throwing speeds are insane in this game. In one inning Juan Pierre was on second and had a good lead. After a bloop hit into CF I thought Pierre would score easily, but instead Adam Jones ran onto the ball -- not even from a great angle or anything -- and gunned Pierre easily at the plate.

Argghh....this and the lack of zone/cursor hitting. Probably my two biggest pet peeves. Since it doesn't look like we can tweak arms overall with a slider, hopefully we can edit them down.

One question for you, Chase... Is everything customizable? For instance, if the game has Ryan Howard too skinny, can we edit body dimensions like we could in 2K8?

Could you tell us what's not editable? I'd appreciate it.

I won't tell you everything that's editable. Instead I'll tell you what's not. Does that work?

Throwing arm and position are not editable. Everything else (including weight) is editable. It's weird though, when I edit the weight it doesn't look like the player is changing in the edit screen, but when I edit height you can clearly see him getting taller or shorter.

Trevy, I don't think you can do what you want.

I hit four home runs (all with the power swing) and won 7-0 -- a 3-run HR and a solo HR in the first being the big reasons why. I don't think anyone should jump to conclusions and think OMG there is a home-run problem or anything -- Millennium was just that bad, and I sat fastball a couple times and he paid for me guessing right.

Am I the only one that found this post absolutely hilarious?!

Chase can you look into these bugs from last year? And see if they have been fixed?

I was going to do a home "test" by renting the game before I buy it. (I have a thread about bugs from 2K9 going over at 2K forums)

A lot of people are concerned about bugs

Here is my test I was going to do;



-I'm going to intentionally hit batters and see if my pitchers gets booted or warned. Last year you could beam the entire team if you wanted.
-Last year if you traded someone they turned into a generic bald white appearence on field, even if they were Hispanic, Black or Asian or whatever. I'm going to trade some guys and see if that still happens.
-I'm going to sim through an off day and see if players properly recover fatigue.
-I'm going to see if contract negotiations are even possibe mid season, since last year you could not.
-I'm going to see if every generated rookie in the draft is 5'6" like last year. (That was a funny one.)
-I'm going to get a player injured, then sim till he has 1 days left on his injury, and see if he gets stuck as injured forever like last year.
-Im going to promote some AAA to the majors mid-season and see if their AAA stats come with them, last year AA AAA and MLB stats would all mix together as you promoted/demoted guys. Stats for each league should be seperate!
-I'm going to sim to year 2 in a franchise. Last year CPU teams only bothered to fill 22 rosters spots after the first season. I have no idea why this happened last year, but Im going to check for that too.

I don't have time to shift through 10 pgs of posts...so sorry if this has already been asked.

Besides the tests kp mentioned in the post above...my big concern is Sim logic in franchise/season mode.
Are the results and stats fairly true to real life?
For example, did any players have ridiculous amounts of HRs,RBIs, SBs etc...and were the team's records realistic? Last year (in my season at least), there were too many teams floating at .500, there weren't any really good teams (I think the best record in baseball was like 91-71) or really bad teams ( no one really came close to 100 Ls).

Does the game still indicate when the cpu throws a mistake pitch, and if so, does the cpu still purposely throw pitches like high changeups and high sinkers that aren't mistake pitches
