Re: Next Patch is coming soon
In all honesty I think theres still so much old code in this game dating back to mlb 2k6 that has to still stay in in order for them to even have a game functioning etc
I would imagine check sums are a pain and data logs or what have you are all screwed up. this happened to winning eleven on ps2 as wellBrand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment

Re: Next Patch is coming soon
Point is, they're taking their time and hopefully releasing a good patch. If the patch is worthless, then everyone can continue the incessant complaining about how terrible 2K sports is haha.Comment

Re: Next Patch is coming soon
I think 2K realizes they have a lot riding on this patch. For 2 reasons;
1-They realize the terrible reputation of bugs that 2K sports games have. And they seem intent on trying to change that reputation. And creating a patch that fixes everything, or almost everything from community feedback would go a long way to do that.
So that way next year you will say to yourself;
"Gee whiz! They fixed all them bugs and stat engine problems with that super awesome patch! That makes me feel all warm inside about buying their games in the future. I cant wait to plop down $60 for MLB 2K11 next year! Gee willikers they really turned things around at 2K sports!"
What they dont want you to say is this;
"Those ****ing idiots! Yet another patch; and still all of these bugs? Bugs bugs bugs. Don't they play baseball? Don't they bug test their games? I'm buying the Show next year and a PS3, **** you 2K sports!"
2-It is widely been discussed that anything over 3 patches the gaming company is required to pay MS or Sony to host those patches on their server for download. This will technically be patch #3. So yet another patch after this one would cost them $$ since it would technically be the 4th patch on the 360. (There was a release day patch if you all remember. There was a 2nd patch specific to the 360. This patch will be the 2nd patch for the PS3 and the 3rd for the 360.)
Long story short, they need to get this patch right and they know it.Comment

Re: Next Patch is coming soon
Something needs to be drastically changed in their testing process because too much obvious stuff is either being done wrong or just being left out. Whether these are known about and overlooked or if they truely are never discovered has to also be in question, but the bottom line is we are getting a "fully playable" date that is two months later than the "release" date for this game for too many years in a row.Comment

Re: Next Patch is coming soon
Basically, this still has to be the mindset of the majority of their consumers. How could it be any different? It's great if they patch all of these things, but the bottom line is this huge number of issues made it past their testers to begin with and had to be discovered by us within a matter of a few days. Patches are nice, but shouldn't be put in place simply so you can let your final consumers be your testers.

This is make or break time for this franchise. Yes, they need to make sure they fix everything in the patch, but they also need to get it out quickly. If I end up shelving this game by mid May and still no patch, I probably won't ever pick it up again. Or, for that matter, I probably won't buy any more 2k games.
It will be May by the end of the week. 1/6 of the baseball season will have been completed. We were told, maybe a patch by opening day, probably a patch by mid April. Yet, the same old story. It's closing in on May. Which would be fine if I had any confidence this patch was going to fix the problems. Fact of the matter is, 2k's patches are just as buggy as their games.Comment
