This game does so many things right, but the commentary is the GOAT. It's the greatest ever seen in a sports game to this date imo (sorry NFL2k5 you are now #2)

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
I personally think it's better... I love Kevin Harlan and Kellogg is okay and the commentary is really detailed... but Harlan has been there for so many years that now all I want to hear is Mike Green, Mark Jackson and Van Gundy on the next game lol
With MLB 2K11... man, seriously, it's just too awesome, all the details, the the stats, even the conversation is greatComment

A LOT better IMO.
Thorne & Phillips sounds natural in the game. It does not sound scripted at all. Having all kinds of stats in baseball helps IMO that's why it never gets stale.
They talk about previous games, stats against specific pitchers, RISP, its crazy! I just love it!Last edited by Greene_Flash03; 03-11-2011, 04:24 AM.Comment

as much as I love the stats in the game, many of them are static and dont change.
at least they didnt in 10
Career vs, pitcher as an example. if a guy was 3-18 against someone, it will always say that.
id assume its that way in 11Comment

I traded my copy in today. Could not excuse the AI logic in this game.
Leading by 1 in the bottom of the ninth the cpu with bases empty and 2 outs keep the pitcher in to hit in a 2-1 game
Incredible. How does that get past the dev team
Even pasta has a video on his site about the cpu leaving a reliever in to hit in a tie game in the 10th inning with the go ahead run on firstComment

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
Its the opposite for me. Stealing is way too easy. Even on legend the CPU doesnt keep runners in check. They may throw over there once, but never more than that. I can get a four or five step leadoff every time. Stubbs, Phillips, Lewis and even Renteria are almost automatic.
I also dont like how runners will give up on rundowns. Maybe they just haven't had time to work on the AI which I guess is ok, but at some point they should let us be free.

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
I think the errors are tuned very poorly in this game. I think we're going to have to crank the throwing error slider to see any and I've seen more dropped fly balls and liners than I've seen booted ground balls. That needs to be patched and I think it's worse than the demo. In the demo I'd see quite a few more booted balls and not as many dropped flies but not in the retail. The more I play the more I think this will have to be patched.Comment

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
Just played another fun game, I could only muster 2 runs off Oswalt over 6+ innings. I played as the Brewers and alot of their players have a dinky green accuracy bar in their throwing meter. I had to really focus on defense.
- Allowed 2 HR's, 3 doubles and a triple on All Star level.
- CPU was hacking & hitting anything in the strike zone early but taking pitches (that were balls) on the black. In the second half of the game it was the opposite - they were swinging and missing pitches in the zone and taking strikes on the black. I liked the unpredictability of that.
- When you're in the stretch I dont like how the pitch icon (big circle) is still on the screen as the ball crosses the plate. Any idea how to fix this? It's perfect during a full windup...Comment

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
It just dawned on me how you can use audio cues to help determine what pitch is coming in. Fastballs have a fast, high pitched "Swooosh" while slow breaking balls are in a much lower tone. Sliders, 2-seamers, cutters are in the middle.
Sometimes it's tough to tell the difference but other times it's obvious so this is a nice feature. I just used it to fight off a breaking pitch when I was looking fastball with 2 strikes. Normally I would've swung early and missed.
If you go into the presentation settings and change audio presentation to "On Field" you can really hear it. Makes you feel like a player on the field because all you hear is the crowd and sound effects. Or just go with regular commentary and jack sound effects up to 100, but sometimes they'll talk during a pitch.Comment

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
Just sitting here at work and thinking how much the player salary problem in 2k really pisses me off. i guess the only way around it is to control all 30 teams and set everything to auto but when the re-sign period comes turn auto off then when free agency comes turn auto back on and off we go to the bidding war. Only ? i have is if you elect to control all 30 teams and set auto for 29 teams do the teams your not controlling still make trades?
The only saving grace for me with regards to franchise is the new progression system. At least now your players will develop (or not).Comment

Very unfortunate that this is where the greatness of this game ends. After the commentary

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment

He is not clowning the product, he has an actual video that shows it. Or should we ignore it and not mention the issue with video evidence
I might pick up the game after it is patched and people claim it is a playable game. Besides the quirks which you can try and close your eyes about, the game is decent but when AI logic is trash then it becomes unplayableComment
