Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread

Well I just encountered a glitch that cost me the game. I still can't believe what just happened. Bottom of the 8th I'm the Rangers vs Red Sox. I struggled all game to get something going against the Lester. Down 0-2 going into the eighth I managed to score 2 runs. Now 2-2 I have a man on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Cruz is up and hits a high fly out all the way to the center field wall. I tag up both runners and sit back and enjoy taking a hard earned lead. Well my man from 2nd makes it to third, however the guy running home gets into some type of glitched run/lead off look (like waiting to see if a fly ball will be an out) five feet from home. Well he just stands there kinda of spazzing. The Red Sox proceed to throw the ball from the cutoff man to the catcher. The catcher (standing next to my frozen guy) tosses it to first base. The first baseman runs it home to the catcher and throws it to him from 3 feet away and the catcher proceeds to make the tag. Next batter does a soft liner to the second baseman.

Might be one of the most frustrating moments I have had in a long time with a video game. I turned off the game at the end of the inning for obvious reasons.

Chill out, they'll hear about this constantly and it will get patched. They've put in a lot of work towards making a better product this year, it'll get sorted out. They don't want the bad press again.

There are two options at that time.

Shut off your console and start up the game again or wait for the complete patch to fix this.

This has been known since the demo, so, I'm sure it will be fixed. I haven't run into from the demo to my first game, knock on wood.

I didn't see any hiccups in my first game that would call it a deal breaker. I walked two batters in a row(something that didn't happen last yr) and I also walked with Fielder at the plate.

I would like the bug fixed too and in due time, it will.

On my way out, however, I really like the game so far.

Playing on pro for now. First thing I did was change baserunning cam to 10 height and zoom as suggested by another user on here. Really fixes the hitting camera once ball goes into play.

Also put Human and CPU pitch speed to 75. Increases fastball speeds to realistic numbers.

The two things that really stand out for me are the stadium shadows and the player models. Well done 2K on the graphical front.

            Hope to play more tonight!!

Well all I can say is 2k is back in the baseball hunt! I really enjoyed the demo and the retail version IMO is even better! I love that you can raise the pitch speed for the AI and user separately! I have user pitch to 100 and AI to 80 and feel that is perfect for me. I am loving all the camera angles and best of all my Pirates aren't half bad this year! They have some hitters! lol Stealing and the tags are really nicely done as well!

The only negative that I have is it's gonna take up too much of my time! It's that fun!

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread

                I have a PS3 and I'm glad I got both games.

This is going to be exactly what I need for offline franchise mode.

Custom season length is a biggie...and I love how fast and crisp the game moves along. That's exactly what I need.

I forgot how much I really enjoyed gesture pitching when I did have a XBOX.

I had a rough 1st inning, giving up 2 runs, with John Neise, but I have settled in a bit

I like the feeling of "snapping" a pitch off, and the game does a good job of replicating how a pitcher doesnt have a good "feel" for a pitch if it isnt his strength.

I just struck out Texiera on a 1-2 curveball that I took a little bit off of, and which broke just a smidge outside the zone.

                It just felt "right"

I also really like inside edge..always did. It's very accurate as far as "thinking" out there in the mound and attacking a hitter.

I REALLY like the presentation. I havent skipped through a single line of dialogue or a cut scene..I just like the TV-Style aspect of it.

One thing that strikes me graphically about the game, is that it is very BRIGHT!!. Im going to need to darken my TV!!

Im not in love with the default fielding camera view. I like a more scenic view of the ballpark, when Im chasing balls down.

I also liked how it was real sunny at first pitch and the lighting changed progressively. It looked different in the 6th inning and even better in the 9th. Good job.

Quick impressions: (since many have already detailed gameplay, I will focus more on the little things I noticed

                    Negatives: not many but:
                    -no rain or retractable roofs
-no option for online play to use classic batting or any classic controls (AGAIN THIS YEAR)
                    -no Bernie Brewer
-need to adjust default running cam
-no 80s style jerseys (light blue Cardinals, no expos etc)

                    Positives:
-love the inclusion of Fielding cam adjustments this year including the one from 2K9
-Player faces and uniform textures are much improved, love the individual jersey fonts
-Love the new throwing meter and fielding icons...and overall different feel of the players
                    -Great lighting and stadium models
-Injury system in Franchise detailed by the developer diary
-collison detection on foul balls and home runs...almost nailed a player in the dugout with a foul and he ducked to avoid it lol
-extended real time presentation for those who wanted it...player step out and do signature animations (grab dirt, adjust batting gloves) no blue flash

There's plenty more I like than dislike. Most of my negatives are minor annoyances.

Playing some MLB Today games and the pitch accuracy slider is awesome. Much more realistic than 2K10. I'm actually walking guys and giving up extra base hits.

This game is pretty fun so far .

Beltre was in the demo. If it wasn't changed there, I really doubt it's changed in the retail version.

I'm getting shelled by the Braves in a Spring Training game on PRO with some slider tweaks.. Right now Tommy Hanson is just filthy. Seeing some nice hit variety.

You can tell they really worked on the Pitching aspect of the game. No longer can you be pinpoint accurate with your pitchers. Score after 6 innings

                            Braves 8/Yanks 0

But really, there is a great bug/glitch thread for this kinds of discussion. Obviously, you should have never bought the game. There were bugs in the demo, so you knew there was a good chance that there might be bugs in the final release.

Some of us were happy to enjoy the game and report what we found so you could have made a smart decision for yourself. I wasted time verifying and nailing down exactly what the fatigue bug was even though I don't really play franchise mode.

But I've also found that this game has insanely good gameplay, and is a lot of fun. I'm sorry you don't like it. But just a little tiny bit of patience would have saved a lot of anguish. It didn't take too long for folks to point out what seems to be bothering you so much.

There is stuff in all kinds of games that I am flabbergasted people accept. But I've found if I just don't play those games, it actually doesn't affect me at all.
At what point did I say I don't like it? Potential game killer? Yes (I had said emphatically that it was a flat out game killer earlier, but it had just happened and I was pissed), but this game is still fun and for those of us who 2k has by the balls (aka baseball fanatics who only have a 360) we actually have a potentially worthy baseball game on our hands. Is it nitpicking like not letting the pitcher bat 8th or having the incorrect jersey of my Rockies still not corrected? Not at all. It will ruin your fun when you encounter it and I hope it happens to you soon and often so you know where I am coming from (this may sound immature, but you will understand the frustration when it happens because words cannot articulate it).

oh, and I obviously should not have purchased the game? Why? Because they said they didn't fix the HR/out bug with the launch patch? Oh, that's right... they said the opposite of that.

and this is an *impressions* thread. This encounter has made an *impression* on my gaming experience. It has every right to be in this thread as does any other positive or negative *impression*. Perhaps I misunderstood that this was a *write about how everything is rainbows and puppy dog kisses* thread.

and it has been mentioned in the bugs/glitch thread. Although it maybe redundant, it falls under both he impression and bug/glitch category.

and good for you for wasting time for the benefit of other OS'ers I guess. A cookie for your troubles?

Played a game (default settings) as the Reds at home against the Pirates.

Game was a lot of fun. Got down early, fought back, went down again and then blew it open (relative to the amount of scoring) in the eighth inning. Aroldis Chapman is appropriately nasty. Arroyo felt like Arroyo.

                                Won 5-2.

Lighting is great except for the jagged shadows, but I can live with that. Animations seem rushed sometimes. Stadium scale/size is just perfect. Didn't see any glitches during my game.

                                A lot of fun.
