Ramone is THE standard of how to interact with community leaders and press in the marketing of their game. While I think that 2k11 made HUGE and amzing strides in the gameplay department, I think its absolutley ******** that they take 2 hughe steps back in graphics and visual representations of the game of baseball. I mean 2k10 was fine...gameplay needed a huge lift....so 2k11 gameplay is fine but now graphics is where gameplay was last year! mlb2k7 graphics were amazing gameplay/framerate stunk....2k8 graphics stunk but gameplay was better! In my opinion 2K is the KINGS of stealing from its consumers (especially of the xbox community) because they promise year after year that the game is better when its not, it gets better in certain areas and gets worse in others. I mean, one thing that puzzles me is that they PRIDE themselves on player sig styles. Batting and pitching right! Been a 2K staple since 2007! Yet in 2k10 they botched several players by blatenly removing their sig animation and giving them generics but calling it sig. THIS YEAR, they took PAST sig styles of players already removed from the game (retired players) and simply renamed it for current players. (IE Aubrey Huff has nomar garciaparras old stance, Jay Bruce had griffeys old stance, and I saw other players have like mike lowells old stance, gary matthews old stance, carlos delgado's old stance) This is pure laziness and kind of "pulling the wool over our eyes" ploy. I hope I am not out of line but to me, a company that has a CONSISTANT track record of repeatedly having problems like the MLB 2K franchise has had is something that needs to be held accountable for. Also lets not hide the fact that 2K never released ANY copies to be reviwed by anyone so as to avoid issues of the game to be put out before release day to sucker consumers into day 1 purchases. Just sayin
    THIS.

I've pretty much given up on 2K after 2K8.

    2K7 > all

Such a beautiful baseball game to this day.
Coming is my style, but I have to go.

People keep killing the graphics of this game. Go back & look @ 2K10. There's no way you can say 2K10 looks better 11. Is the difference HUGE, no but the difference is there

So close, but yet so far away from being a quality game imo. I've only played a handful of games thus far, but the weak AI is killing the expierence for me. It's a shame too. I love the pitching. But the few AI glitches absolutely give the game an unrealistic feel.

AI runners do not advance properly!! Almost everytime there is a runner on 3rd with less then two outs and the ball is hit to the right side of the infield they will not score!!!! Same goes with runners on 2nd. A basehit and the runner always stop at 3rd when they should have scored easy!

And whats the deal with pitchers bunting when there is no one on base??? grrrrr. I so wanted this to replace The Show for me this year.

Brother...I am looking RIGHT NOW at 2k10 and graphically it looks nothing like 2k11. At least for PS3 sake. The edges on 2k11 are flat out UGLY and the smootheness and calrity of the game is simply gone. Lets say I am pitching from ANY camera behind the pitcher...homeplate is blocky, blurred and holds no texture...neither does the batter, batter box or anything in that direction! Everything looks...like I am playing this game on an old school tube TV. (and trust me man, with my TV this is impressive that it looks that bad) I may as well of hooked up reg AV cords to a tube TV and play it like ps2 days. 2k10 was nothing like that. Player faces and models are better than 2k10 but the HD and the picture flat out sucks this year.

Yah, 2K11 absolutely took a step backwards on PS3. Jagged edges, blurry textures, etc. I thought 10 looked pretty good, so it's pretty surprising to me just how bad 11 looks in comparison.

And there lies the issue. This game is Multi-Platform with the XBOX 360 the lead console when developing this game. It's some what sad it's been this way when Multi-Platform games are involved.

Absolutely. I've seen it running on the 360 as well (same with NBA), and there is definitely a difference, especially in overall smoothness.

Decided to play a few innings in earlier mlb 2k games on next-gen to compare. Did they ever give a reason why they removed the ridiculously baggy uniform option a la CC Sabathia

As did I. While it does look better on the 360, it still is lacking huge based on where it was last year. It is unfortunate, but hey, what can you really do? For 360 its the only gig in town, for us PS3...well...there is a therpeutic alternative thank goodness.

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread

This is a narrow impression of the drills game mode.

First, I appreciate that the drills are there in the first place. It's a place to learn the controller functions. The drills are not too broad in scope, but the cover the fundamentals pretty well.

The Batting drills are fun, especially the one where you have to hit the ball to all fields. Since 2K spent a great deal of time reinforcing the swing timing for this release, it's nice to work swing timing here.

The pitching drill where you try to keep runners from advancing is too short though. You just figure it out when it's over (the first time you play it).

                      I have two gripes.
                      1. There doesn't seem to be any cumulative effect on anything in the game. You score points based on the success you have in the drills, but can someone tell me if that translates into achievements or similar?
                      2. After performing each drill, the only menu navigation option is to quit to the main game menu. It would have been much better if an option would be to quit to the drills menu to play again, or a different drill. Again, this seems like a shortsighted, incomplete game mode.

Lastly, I would have loved it if these drills were somehow linked to your user's mastery of the game and player cards. For instance, by selecting Ichiro to perform the contact swing drill, and getting a bronze, silver, or gold score, it would have been nice to see his player card show up in some sort of virtual binder of player cards. That way, by performing these drills with more players, a user could conceivably collect all cards, unlocking achievements along the way.

The baserunning AI is annoying at times. I ran myself out of two innings in my last game. I had guys on 1st and 3rd with nobody out. Magglio hits a grounder to second and my base runner on 3rd stays there and watches while they execute the double play and I never score him. I'm trying to hit the r-stick down to send him because I know the cpu is stupid sometimes but I miss an easy run because he never goes home (I popped out with Cabrera next). Two innings later a similar situation so I spam the L1 button to force everyone to run and I do score but I get the second runner picked off because I sent him where he shouldn't be going. Annoying.

Franchise mode needs player options. You can send veterans to the minors without any issues. Granted we can use self-control but it's nice to be forced to do moves properly and I'm sure the cpu does whatever he wants.

Just checking here, but did you have control of that runner on 3rd?
Sofar i did not experience this. I have always had problems with baserunning controls on other games, but with 2k i really like the system.
Sometimes you have to prex X (for ps3) to gain control over the correct runner, before you can advance that single runner.

I had an issue with baserunning as well.

Base was loaded no outs, I hit a pop up to RF. Wanted to tag the runner on 3rd, but didn't have control as a default???? Can I control him? As a default, I had control of 2B which doesnt make sense when the base is loaded...

Forget about the using the R stick simply squeeze the L trigger to advance your runner, if you have control of him and you squeeze it you will see the base icon he is supposed to run to change.

They had something good with the player models in 2K7 I wish they kept building off that. But on the 360 the player models are better than the player models in 2K10 in my opinion.
