Because the more I play this game, the more I believe that was the extent of the QA/QC process.
Could not agree with you MORE. I am a Software QA Engineer. I know how the process works and when it doesnt what happens. I mean, lets face it, in reality there is no such thing as "bug free" software. That being said, I DO know that if we released something as buggy as this (with the SEVERITY of bugs) we would be called on the carpet tomorrow. I know some of this stuff slips through. But, Fatigue not working in Franchise mode? Really? C'mon... Franchise mode is based on recreating a season and focuses on player management. I would think the fact that players dont fatigue when games are played manually would have been caught. This tells me this was probably auto tested. They probably simmed thousands of franchise seasons and never caught it. If so, that method is flawed.

Anyhow, thats my .02. I have a decent tolerance for issues that in early releases of a software title. However, when it is of the magnitude of the things people here are reporting, I begin to lose a little faith....

Until a patch is released I won't even think about buying this game. I really want to, but I need a playable and realistic dynasty.

It's been since MVP 2005 for me since I've had fun in franchise.

I bought it, but its on the shelf until AT LEAST I can do a franchise. Until such time, the game is really nothing more than a $60 dust collector

Re: Anything from 2K on a patch?

I wouldn't want any of my comments to convey the idea that I expect MLB2K11 or any other game to be perfect and 100% bug-free. I can appreciate the fact that these games aren't just banged out overnight and that it's nearly impossible to recreate every glitch or bug that might popup. The irritating thing with MLB2K is that there are glaring issues (framerate slowdown, for example) that happen EVERY game and occur from the first inning onwards. The fatigue bug in franchise mode pretty much says "sorry, guys, but we didn't even bother checking out this area of the game."

I hope the patch truly solves most of the issues. Again, I don't expect 100% perfection and I doubt a patch could cure all of the game's ills anyways. Another concern I have, though, is that they don't issue a patch for the PS3. I believe I read somewhere that this was the case with NHL2K10 and one of the recent MLB games, too. If that happens, I'm going to be majorly P.O.'d!!

How was their commitment to NBA 2K these past few years? I didn't buy either of those games, so I don't have a frame of reference. Were they more expedient with patches, updates, etc. for that game?

It's much better than the alternative: rush a patch out to fix the obvious bugs and miss a lot of the smaller things.

              same here.
played MLB Today games thus far and will wait for Opening Day rosters and then starting a franchise while playing ST games by the time I am done with Spring Training, the patch will be here.

That's another problem with this whole pattern of releasing buggy games and counting on patching them later. If that's really the philosophy, they need to do multiple patches and fix known issues ASAP so that we have a functioning game. I'd be more okay with it if, for instance, they had started working on the patch to fix franchise fatigue and the crashing issues as soon as they became common knowledge (i.e., release day) and had them out along with a roster update on opening day, and then they waited a few more weeks to fix the annoying but tolerable or rarer problems (home run catch glitch, uniform issues, graphics hiccups, etc.) in a later patch. But since they only get a limited number of patches, we have to wait as long to get a non-crashing game as we do to get the color of some random backup's socks fixed. If they're going to release a game assuming it has problems and counting on gamers to find them (NOT our job, but whatever), they need to fix major stuff that gets found right away and not make us wait 6 weeks just so they can fix as much as possible in one final patch.

I can't answer this as definitively as someone else might be able to since I'm not a basketball fan and haven't bought a bb game since NBA2K5. However, I think the NBA2K series has stood up very well over the years and has been the most consistently high-rated game for 2K.

Of course, I can remember when the entire 2K lineup (baseball, basketball, hockey, and football) were highly regarded. Now, the NHL2K series has fallen off to the point that it only released on the Wii this year. The MLB2K series, despite what is essentially a fun game at it's core, seems to have descinded into a mish mash of glitches and bugs. Of course, the Madden NFL exclusive has put the kibosh on any NFL2K game for at least a few more years.

Speaking of which, I popped in NFL2K5 a few months ago and I can see why people still play it and wish for the series to return. For a game that is now over six years old, man, the developers really nailed it on that one. Yeah, the graphics are definitely dated, but the presentation and gameplay still shines after all this time. The announcers get on my nerves a little, but it just might be the best $20 sports game ever!!

These days we're paying $60 for an unfinished game....

Does anybody know if the patch will affect present Franchises that are in progress? I am deep into a franchise with the Rays and I have played 20 games so far. I would hate to have to restart.

College Hoops 2K8 was fantastic also. They just seemed to get lazy when it came to baseball.

I was asking mainly from the patch perspective. I assume that NBA 2K11 wasn't perfect when it came out. So how quickly did they turn around patches for it? How was the staff/production team in terms of keeping people abreast of what was going on? Or was it indeed close to perfect, needing very little patching?

I saw Ronnie2K's twitter messages and he said they are still gathering feedback for the patch.. So, my uneducated guess would be not for awhile. Seems like they still have to decide what they are going to address in the patch and then I believe the patch has to be "certified". I wouldnt look for it anytime soon, but thats just my guess
