...argh, they really need to patch this!!!

You can still click the middle button on the controller then go, "system settings", "console settings" and "clock" to change the date.

Also if you have a wired connection you can just change the date once and play without xbox live connected(or connect it after you've loaded the game) so that you only have to change the date once. I've been playing for 2 weeks everyday and have only had to change the date once, I just don't connect the wire so I'm not connected to Xbox live(obviously this only works with a wired connection). This way you only have to change the date after everytime you use live instead of all the time.

The official 2K forums are useless... There has been NOTHING officially from 2K stating that a fix is in place for this problem. I really feel sorry for people who don't know what to do to workaround this problem...

2K is a joke when it comes to customer service on MLB 2K12...it's appalling.

This makes no sense. There is no reason for 2k to burn bridges, yet they do so anyway.

Re: MLB 2k12 freezing at startup screen (workaround)

I called 2K tech support again this morning...25 minute hold, but I was pissed.

It is indeed a fact that with this new xbox live update you can NO LONGER update your system settings and clock by using the 2 profile workaround. If you log out of your xbox live account and load the non-live profile, it STILL leaves you connected to the internet. You canNOT update your clock manually with your secondary account as it's grayed out...

So I speak with the guy (mind you this is the SECOND time I've called them). When I asked if they were aware of the freezing issue he quickly interrupted me and told me to change my clock settings. I then jumped in and asked him if they were aware this no longer works with the new system update just rolled out. He was totally caught off guard.

I asked if a patch or fix would be done on this...some stuttering and then a "probably after the World Series." I asked if this was a fact...he then changed the subject.

Finally (and I hated to do this) I said, "Can I ask you something - your tech support appears to not know what's going on, and that you're not well thought of with regard to MLB." I told him that I know it's not HIS fault, but this issue really takes the opinion of 2K way down.

I then said, "let me make a suggestion: you guys need to put something on your website OFFICIAL from 2K letting us know that you guys have a workaround for this (temporary, since in your words this will be fixed) and have it on your website so everyone can see this."

He tried to bullcrap me and said we already have this, and I said, "no, you don't. Your forums have mods who are jerks and play favorites and allow certain people to bully others. But, no, you have nothing official on your site about this."

Wanting to prove me wrong, he checked this, and then said, "Well, I'm sorry - you're right, we have nothing out there. I will make a suggestion to our team to get this done - but I don't know what they'll do - I can only send this along."

            So there's where we are....

The only solution appears to be this: turn your internet off by unplugging your ethernet cable or (like me) unplug your router. Start the console - roll back your clock - load the game and THEN re-connect your internet. I have not tried this because my family was using the internet, but it appears this is the only workaround for the time being.

Just wanted to update you guys and let you know how my experience went today...

mkharsh33, you must be a glutton for punishment to call these dudes back. i've played recently without being initially connected to the internet just fine, due to the fact my xbox 360 is set to the original system date (11/22/05).

I tried mkharsh33's way of unplugging the internet and it works fine when once I am past the startup screen I plug it back in.

Has anyone ever looked at the patch details for 2k11? It's hilarious. So much of it is stuff people wanted patched in 2k12.

Anyways, I've decided for my 2k fix my patch is going to be just to play 2k11.

So, now that the baseball season is over, this is still an issue? These workarounds are helpful, but also a royal pain.

I was thinking about picking this game up, but I will just get 2K11 if this is still an issue and not fixed.

I am on the PS3 and it is an issue for me. In order to resolve I simply change my system date to the regular season (e.g. Oct 1.2012). It is a really annoying bug. But I have a feeling 2K will not fix it.

It shows you what happens when a game doesn't have the right product team to help the developers.

Can you just disconnect from Live before starting the game up and then after you advance past the title screen, sign in to Live?

Can you turn off the MLB Today and Living Rosters update?

I'm sure you guys have tried, but just spitballing some ideas.

                            It's simple:

                            1) disconnect your internet (either unplug your ethernet cable or unplug your router).
                            2) turn on your gaming system (your profile should load, just not be online)
                            3) manually change your clock back to a date where games are played - doesn't matter which. save changes.
                            4) put your game in your gaming system and let everything load up
                            5) once you're in THEN turn on your internet connection

Everything will now work fine... I have to laugh - not sure why this is so hard. No, 2K has not provided a fix for this, and if I were a betting man, I'd say they won't. What's the incentive now that the season is over and it appears 2K baseball is done?

Do NOT delete any settings or anything else - those have NO bearing on this procedure. And if you call tech support and some clown says to do this - trust me - he has no clue what he's talking about. This is totally tied to the MLB TODAY loadup at the beginning of the game and NOTHING else...

What if you have a XBOX 360 Slim? The Wi-Fi is built in and I haven't found a way to disconnect it

You should be able to just shut of you router - still having your 360 shut off - and then once the router is down your internal wi-fi won't have anything to connect to. Then just follow the steps above... The problem with the new 360 system update is your system will now stay connected to the internet even when signed out of your Live profile. So shutting down the internet system (which I'm guessing your connecting via router) should take care of this problem for you. I have the old 360 (the white box). I have the older style "antennae" connected to my 360 because my router is a long distance from my 360 - so I'm connected via wireless router. When I unplug the power from my router I have no wi-fi in my home - I can then start up my 360, fix the clock manually, and then using the steps above get into my game without the freeze. THEN once I'm up and running I replug in the power to my router to get me connected to the internet. Nothing else to do...
