Re: MLB 2k12 freezing at startup screen (workaround)
You can get around the crash now. There are three important steps...
1) Make sure you're signed into an XBox Live enabled account
2) Make sure Living Rosters are set to ON
3) Make sure you do not hit B and cancel the schedule/roster/etc sync when you boot up the game.
If your profile is offline, the living rosters are off, or you don't do the initial sync fully it will crash. You will shouldn't need to delete any save files or anything now.Comment

Re: MLB 2k12 freezing at startup screen (workaround)
This is totally tied to the MLB Today schedule. It has nothing to do with your saves, and what you've suggested doesn't work because the freeze occurs at the loadup screen.
2K has stated a patch is in the works. The only way around this is to use the steps that have been provided here numerous times which involve changing the clock / date on your xbox system while having your internet connection off.STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: MLB 2k12 freezing at startup screen (workaround)
It has everything to do with the MLB Today screen looking at the System Date on the disk roster schedule when the user is offline or Living Rosters OFF. Your Living Rosters are set to OFF, correct?Last edited by VC_Plant; 12-04-2012, 02:51 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 2k12 freezing at startup screen (workaround)
I've tried every combination possible - no dice. I even (stupidly) took the advice from a guy at 2K Tech Support and deleted all my MLB 2K12 files - still freezes. The ONLY way this can be fixed is via a patch from 2K, which is why they finally came public with this. Of course, it probably won't matter much now that thousands of copies have been taken back to GameStop as trade fodder. And so we wait to see if 2K will keep their word.....STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: MLB 2k12 freezing at startup screen (workaround)
I'm sure you did in the past. Try it now. It's VERY important that you don't turn Living Rosters OFF, you're logged in to XBox Live, and you don't hit any buttons to skip the schedule download during the boot sequence. I believe you just need to delete your Settings file (if it has Living Rosters set OFF) to keep it from blocking you getting to that setting.Comment

Last question: do I have to do this EACH TIME I play this game? Thnx!STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: MLB 2k12 freezing at startup screen (workaround)
No, as long as you're logged into XBox Live and Living Rosters are ON you should be GTG. The whole problem is if the game is in a non-Living Roster state it compares the system date to the schedule on disk (which ended on October 3rd). The Living Roster doesn't have that issue.Comment

Re: MLB 2k12 freezing at startup screen (workaround)
I can get my game to work using the offline change date to oct 1, the other way it keeps showing that 2k is unable to connect and freezes after trying to be sure that I have the latest roster. Is a patch coming for this game any time soon? I 've never had one to do this.Comment

Re: MLB 2k12 freezing at startup screen (workaround)
The last responses both sound different than the crash this thread was about. Could you please expand?
clifton, what system are you on? If I understand your post correctly, you are able to get into the game with either the date change or by deleting your settings and logging with with Living Rosters ON, correct? Then it crashes when you go to the Living Rosters screen and you're unable to connect the 2K servers?
Mgfhssdny530, are you logged into XBox Live with Living Rosters set to ON (and have deleted Settings if they're not)?Comment
