The "zone" hitting (it's not really, we call it "cursorless" around here for lack of a better term) works out pretty well. Since it's more intuitive (and therefore easier) than cursor, we sped up pitch speeds to compensate. On every difficulty level except Rookie, pitches come at actual speed (i.e. a 97MPH fastball is moving at 97 MPH). There's an option to slow it down if you want, though. Increasing difficulty (or using crappy hitters) will require you to aim more precisely to make good contact (or contact at all). Hit variety with this mechanism is better than last year, since we've also tweaked the batted ball physics (i.e. bridging the gap between contact and power swings so that they aren't as different from each other as they were last year).

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

How do you "aim" with a cursorless interface? I loved your no cursor approach last year, very similar to High Heat. Has it changed much?

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Hopefully the explanation a few posts up answers your question. It's a really simple system that's really hard to explain without demonstrating.

Changing the mound is the same as last year.

Mound visits affect confidence and give your pitchers more time to warm up.

                              FP, thanks for answering.

                              My questions:
                              - Pitch Counts; I think the reason for low human pitch counts is that the CPU didnt foul off enough balls, especially on 2 strikes. Has this been fixed ? if it has then i guess pitcher stamina would need to be tweaked to deal with the extra counts.
                              - Any plans for a "behind the fielder" view ?
                              - Postseason calendar; in 2k3 there wasnt one and the playoffs defaulted to a 3 man rotation. This is really unrealistic and a key dynamic of the playoffs is whether your starter can go on short rest. Is this aspect of the game factored in ?

                              Thanks again

                              1. We did make the CPU foul off more pitches. Is it in line with real MLB numbers? I really can't say.

                              2. ...

                              3. We still don't have a real calendar. I remember us doing something...maybe tweaking stamina recovery? but I'm not sure what it was.
