    Re: Any questions?

FP, one last (yeah, right!) question on Zone Hitting. I get the whole 360 degrees instead of 9 zones thing- there are 360 DIRECTIONS you can swing instead of 9. But is your swing also sensitive to how far in a given direction you push? If I barely push the thumbstick in a given direction on one pitch, then push as far as I can go at the exact same angle/direction on the next pitch, are these swings treated the same?

People have said this (that they ARE different) in another thread, but I wasn't sure based on what you said earlier. Sorry if this is a repeat.

    Thanks a bunch.

I think it's Broadband only, and I'm guessing it's because they want ESPN Baseball to have the better online experience, rather than just a larger pack of people playing online. It's quality you want, not quantity.

yea thats true, and they cant have a dial-up only room to seperate broadband and dial up either, because that would be horribly slow

but on the other hand, i had nfl 2k3, and i played online with that (with dial-up), and everywhere i look it says that nfl2k3 was broadband only, becasue i really want to play the online ps2 league, i have never had any problems with dial-up in online games ive played (nfl and nba 2k3, nba live 2004, madden 2004, nba shootout 2004, nascar 2004 and tiger woods 2004)
so i was wondering, do you think i should buy this game to try to play this with dial-up, or would it be better to not try, becasue it may cause more problems, because i dont want to ruin the online experience for other people

First of all thank you for adding one button and cursorless hitting (like high heat)!!! These two features has gotten my interest again in ESPN Baseball.

My friend in CA and I are choosing one game this year to play on XBox live. MVP is out, so it leaves ESPN and ASB left. Here are my questions about online play...

                        1. When selecting one button hitting, does the other player have to play in that mode too?
                        2. Can you take the stike zone out in online play and does the other player have to do that as well? When playing online, can you see the other persons hot and cold zones?
                        3. I read you can take out speed burst, is this for online play too? Would the other player have to do the same?
                        4. I read your rating will be affected by the team you play (great addition!). So if you are 150-0 with the Yankees and another player is 149-1 with the Devil Rays, that person who plays with the Devil Rays will be 1st overall?

Thanks FatPitcher for taking time in answering our questions.

                        2. yes, by selecting all-star or legend difficulty, I think. you both have to have same options online to keep things fair (timing only hitting is much easier than cursor, for example). You can see hot and cold zones online.
                        3. I think confidence and speed bursts are always on for online play, PS2 might be different here.
                        4. Not sure how the online rating is calculated.

Thanks for your quick response! I like what I've read so far... A couple questions left...

About the hot and cold zones online. By seeing the other persons hot and cold zones, wouldn't that be somewhat cheating? What if the opponent always threw in all of the cold zones? The only thing I can think of that would make it a hitters advantage is if that person knew he was throwing in the cold zones and can easily target the hits. However, my concern is would hitting the ball in the cold zone be less of a chance to get a good hit even though you made good contact instead of the hot zones?

Also, I'm assuming from your answer that by selecting the higher levels, it will turn off the strike zone. Does selecting the higher levels mean you will also get faster pitches or can you adjust that online?

Just a suggestion... How about offering OSers free overnight shipping at espnvideogames.com?

                              Fat,

Why is the cut fastball offspeed with downward movement like a changeup?

From the recent videos this still seems to be the case.

The pitch movements in this series are off. Do you agree?

The ball doesn't seem to do the right thing out of the pitchers hand. ie - the ball goes up out of the hand on the curveball. Also the seam movement is not represented.

What are your thoughts on this subject?
