Just a minor thing but are there working scoreboards in the game? I know from previous screenshots they don't appear to work but has that changed from those screenshots?

Does the gameplay feel very similar to last years (if so, then I don't need to look any further, I loved WSB last year and if it plays the same with Live play tacked on then, It's all good)?

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

    1. No working scoreboards.

    2. It's extremely similar. Maybe a little bit smoother; but essentially, it's identical to last year.

I do have a question though while I'm at it. In Situation Mode, can you go as deep as possible? Like, I think that MVP does... for instance, the count, number of outs, who's batting, who's on base, who's pitching, pitcher fatigue, etc. Does this game have that? Also, is there an option to just restart what you tried to do before in your situation, rather than quitting the game and setting it up all over again? Finally, can you use it in first person?

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

      Situation mode...
      You can choose:
      - Starting inning (and top of bottom of it)
      - Number of outs
      - Home and away score
      - Home and away batting order (by number in the order). For example "3" on the Yanks for A-Rod...
      - Men on base.

The teams playing, of course - but that's it.
The pitchers will be the ace for the team, and there is no re-start ability - you need to set it up again to start over again.

No, you can't use it in first-person, either...

      So, not the count, correct?

I just had a quick question about the player cards and stat tracking. Do they keep year-by-year stats along with the teams that a player played for that year, or is it like MVP where they just show current season and career total? How about award tracking on the player cards?

                  1. No. You can only play your scheduled games. In fact, you can't even view other teams' schedules. However, oddly enough, you can play as the opposition against your Franchise team in those games.

                  2. Nope. Franchise mode is 1-player only.

                  3. You can hop into a GameCast simulated game, but you can't jump back out - you have to finish it from that point, or let the CPU simulate it to the end.

                  4. Yes, there are in-game saves.

Owners have different personalities and different areas of focus (you may have an investor owner who is interested only in money, or a dictator who accepts nothing less than the world series every year, etc.). The goals are a little more realistic than in other similar modes -- you aren't just trying to pile up stats, you have to do things like get a power hitter in the offseason, get rid of an underperforming/disloyal/overpaid player, make a certain amount of profit, etc. There's an actual way to win the game instead of just going on indefinitely. I like this mode because it makes every year of franchise mode different; you have to use different strategies to succeed year after year instead of following the same formula every time.

There have also been improvements to the draft, trade, and signing logic, as well as the lineup generation, AI handling of pitchers, simulation, etc. You can play any game on the schedule, not just your own, as well as use the GameCast feature to watch games as they simulate, make substitutions, etc.

No multiplayer franchise or GM Career, although we still allow up to 30 users in Season mode.

Coaches age and retire, lots of franchise-specific stat overlays in the game itself, and probably some other things that I'm forgetting.

I just thought of a few more questions....

In franchise mode, can I play any game on the schedule that I want to even though the team that I'm manageing is the Cubs or any other team for that matter?

                            1. No. You can only play your scheduled games. In fact, you can't even view other teams' schedules. However, oddly enough, you can play as the opposition against your Franchise team in those games.

                            <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Hmm, kind of odd, I remember hearing fat pitcher say that you could play any game from any team, not to mention choosing any stadium aswell.

GM Career is the biggest improvement. You work for an owner who makes various demands and your pay and job security depend on how well you can meet his expectations.

                              Shawn, two questions:

                              1. Has the double switch been fixed? Last year you couldn't do it.

                              2. Last year in franchise, fictional players names were not "spoken" during games. It either said their number, or in some instances, the player's name that coincided with the picture the player had. (eg. I had a black second baseman named Joe Hoover that had Ray Durham's picture. When he came up to bat, the announcer said, "Now batting, Ray Durham!") Has this been fixed?

                              Thanks.

                              1. Actually, I've tried and tried at this. You can get it to work IF you want to sub for both the pitcher and a hitter. However. let's say you've pinch hit for the pither with your backup 2B. In the next inning, you wish to leave that pinch hitter in as the new 2B, and place the new pitcher in the slot of the old 2B. Can't do it. You have to replace two people.

                              2. I haven't has the opportunity to find this one out, but I do know they the announcers don't speak the name of created players. I created "Derek Rodriguez", and put him on the Yanks. He was only either referred as the "second baseman" or by his number.
