Doesn't anyone find it odd that he played 70 some odd games of MVP but did not mention the many AI flaws, no lefty homeruns, or the millions of diving catches?

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Good point. He couldnt see all those problems in 70 games so just imagine how bad espn must be if he can notice so many flaws in such a short amount of time!

They had the mvp review demo for almost a month , so I am sure he will bring up many of the flaws that have been mentioned with mvp.
      "I made a funny"-fozzi bear

The only thing most online or game mag reviews are good for is to psyche yourself up for a game you want to buy anyway , or I will sometimes look up a review for a game i know very little about just to get some ideas of what type of game it is and see a few screens.

It is very difficult to believe that ESPN will be worse then wsb2k3. 2k3 was imo a great game with a few gameplay flaws that seem to have been fixed by all accounts. (there are surely additional or overlooked new bugs, but apparently they have tweaked and fine tuned the major complaints in 2k3). I don't know about other gamers , but thats basically all i wanted was for the bugs from 2k3 (stealing) to be addressed and the fact that I will be able to play a quality online connection with the game is very exciting. I am a gamer that really enjoys playing other people online and baseball is a game that lends itself to playing humans (if only for the a.i. issues and baseball strategy that seem to baffle developers (and often times game reviewers...)).

Honestly if they took Wsb2k3 and made it playable online for xbox and fixed the stealing bug , I would be extremely thrilled and happily pay out $40. However from the research i've done on the game , they not only addressed bugs and brought the game up to speed online, but they added a number of additional improvements and options. I will be very surprised if i am dissapointed in this game.
The reviews just do not make logical sense to me. I am a logic freak (probably why me and my ex don't get along) , but seriously , show me a good logical argument/debate and i will consider it. The only logical negative facts i have heard about ESPN so far is that the bonus features aren't good, and the swing animation wasn't re-done from last year. (couldn't care less about those things).

From the information on available features and reports from gamers i have determined that MVP isn't even a consideration for me. First= it isn't online for Xbox. Second - it has major flaws with progression, lefty homeruns, CPU a.i. and others. Thats a double negative! no online/and buggy franchise ?? = NO WAY.

This is why reviews are just one tool of game information. In many ways(some stated above) Espn suits my tastes for a baseball game and in the same ways MVP comes up short in the baseball gaming areas i am most interested in.

                  1. The CPU let its pitcher bat when tied late in the game many times.
Dusty baker did this in the playoffs at New York. If its a low scoring game yes.

                  2. The CPU throw to 2nd on sac bunts and everyone's safe many times.
Happens all the time in real life

                  3. The CPU use EVERY pitcher on its staff including starters in one game.
This would only happen if you are scoring 25 runs a game. Raise the difficulty. I have never seen anything CLOSE to this, ever.

                  4. The CPU pitch a guy 8 innings one day and pitch 6 more the next day.
                  Never seen this happen, EVER

                  5. 197, 112 diving catches, about half of them made by guys that can't dive to begin with.
Raise the speed of the outfielders through sliders so they cruise to balls without diving. Anyone on a baseball field can dive in real life, even Mo Vaughn. Not sure what you mean by that.

                  6. One homerun by a left handed hitter.
Lefty bug again? Is that all you got? Today in 2 games I hit a home run by Garret Anderson, Erstad and adan Kennedy of all people.

I am not sure what game you are playing but even with its MINOR flaws at least MVP dosen't bore me.

13Warner, i'm sorry, but i've played MVP and what you've written is basically just a bunch of hand-waving BS. Letting a pitcher bat late in the game with a tie score is bad management no matter which way you slice it, Dusty Baker be damned. It's a type of surprise move maybe, or something you do to try and exploit a matchup, but not a regular occurrence by any means.

Throwing to 2nd on a sac bunt most certainly does NOT happen all the time... maybe in the minor leagues, but not in the majors. I don't know if you're watching Montreal or someone, but most teams don't do that. That's more the exception than the rule, and the CPU in MVP does it a LOT.

The difficulty has sod all to do with whether a manager uses his entire staff on one day. That's garbage. The CPU does this on higher difficulties as well in extra innings.

The diving catches have got to stop, and increasing OF speed does NOT help. You have to DECREASE fielder speed to that they don't make it there. You increase the speed they still dive. All this is in the slider thread in MVP forums.

You can sit there and pretend like the flaws don't exist, but they do, and no amount of mealy-mouthing is gonna change it.

Bad management? Yeah yer right but bad management happens in real life too. And I agree with warner, most of that stuff i've never seen happen. I've played quite a bit of MVP games too since release day.
