Hey, I'm just happy to say that this game is not TOO much like last year's:

    Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60

Dusty baker did this in the playoffs at New York. If its a low scoring game yes.

      2. The CPU throw to 2nd on sac bunts and everyone's safe many times.
Happens all the time in real life

      3. The CPU use EVERY pitcher on its staff including starters in one game.
This would only happen if you are scoring 25 runs a game. Raise the difficulty. I have never seen anything CLOSE to this, ever.

      4. The CPU pitch a guy 8 innings one day and pitch 6 more the next day.
      Never seen this happen, EVER

      5. 197, 112 diving catches, about half of them made by guys that can't dive to begin with.
Raise the speed of the outfielders through sliders so they cruise to balls without diving. Anyone on a baseball field can dive in real life, even Mo Vaughn. Not sure what you mean by that.

      6. One homerun by a left handed hitter.
Lefty bug again? Is that all you got? Today in 2 games I hit a home run by Garret Anderson, Erstad and adan Kennedy of all people.

I am not sure what game you are playing but even with its MINOR flaws at least MVP dosen't bore me.

      warner,
I'm 73 games into my franchise so obviously the flaws aren't enough to make me quit on the game. I was just mentioning some of the many that I have seen that for some reason the reviewers didn't see.

As for you not believing some of the things I mentioned, what reason do I have to lie...I like the game?

The game where the CPU used all its pitchers was actually a 16 inning game and it was 3-3 from the ninth until the 16th. Everytime I would get a hit, the cpu would change pitchers. Everytime a lefty would come up, the CPU would bring a lefty in. The CPU eventually used all 5 starters and all the rest of the pitchers on the staff. What was odd was probably 4 of the pitchers only threw on pitch. Granted, I only saw this one time, but it did happen. The other stuff I have seen many, many times, so forgive me if I don't buy into your Dusty Baker theory. Leaving a pitcher in to bat in a tie game with the go ahead run standing on third just doesn't happen and I've seen it happen 5 or 6 times recently. As a matter of fact, earlier tonight I saw the CPU let his relief pitcher bat when he was behind 3-2 in the 8th. It appears that unless it's the 9th inning or the CPU is down by more than 2 runs, then the pitcher will almost alway bat for himself. I've seen it enough to notice the trends.

I saw another good one tonight. I'm down 1-0 going into the bottom of the 9th. I get men on 1st and 3rd and bring in Kerry Robinson to pinch hit. He pulls the ball down the right field line and scores both baserunners and I win 2-1.
So I'm looking at the boxscore and I notice that where it lists RBI, there's none listed for the Cardinals. Then I look at Kerry Robinson's individual line. 0-0 with all zeros. Then I go down and look at the Cubs pitching stats for the game and there are no runs listed there either. So according to the boxscore, I won a game without scoreing a run.

I also hit my 2nd homer with Jim Edmonds tonight..Albert Pujols has 29, Scott Rolen has 20, and Reggie Sanders has 15. I think it's a little odd that Edmonds only has 2 and I've also never given a homerun up to a left hander in a game. Not Todd Helton, not Larry Walker, not Geoff Jenkins, not Griffey Jr., and not Eric Chavez. Just a coincidence? I don't think so. As someone else said on another board, the lefty bug actually cheapens the game more for the CPU than it does for you. I can live with Edmonds maybe hitting 8 homeruns all year even though I know it should be 30-35, but what hurts is that there is no fear when pitching to a left handed hitter at all. Yeah, they still are a threat to get a double or a triple, but there really is no danger of them taking you deep. That's one of the things that I don't know if I can live with, especially if ESPN gets the gameplay right.

I've overlooked all the flaws that MVP has and I've managed to enjoy myself with the game, but I really do want a game where left handers aren't crippled and the AI makes good decisions most of the time.
No, I didn't draft Grossman on my fantasy team, what do you think I am an idiot?

Because I feel that way, I want to give myself ample time to play a lot more game over this weekend before doing a review. If I'm going to pinpoint the subtle reasons why this year's Sega game is less than the previous year, it can't be done after playing only a dozen games (as was the case up to this Friday).

So, if the shallow, inital impressions had matched up well enough with last year's game, it sounds like a review would have arrived after only twelve games? Is that what's been admitted to here?

It's nice to see a reviewer for a major site publicly state how quickly a review can be written if it matches the expectations he or she has coming in... based on the awful baseball game reviews in recent years (jam-packed with factual errors, too), it doesn't exactly shock me.

Re: Some very interesting information about ESPN WSB2K4 from IGN Editor...

I am really confused right now. In the past I have trusted Hilliary for baseball games because he seems to care about the small things in the game that generally get missed by other reviewers, which is why last year when he said WSB2K3 was the best I was excited to try it and IMO he was right, I loved it. Fast forward to this year, he gives a stellar review to MVP and I'm thinking, ok maybe MVP has done it this year, maybe they improved that horrible buggy game from last year to the point of taking the crown. Then I bought the game. I am about 40-50 games in and the amount of glaring bugs I have seen makes me blink. How on Earth could some of these bugs have been overlooked, not by just the devs, but by the reviewers as well. Let me list my top most annoying bugs, which are bringing me closer to not playing MVP anymore.

                  1. Some line drives which aren't anywhere close to a fielder are suddenly called errors, which then means your hitter gets gyped a hit, or even worse an RBI.

2.The fielding is very wonky, guys take too long to get up, too long to stop, too long to throw. After the ball is hit sometimes the CPU will take control of the worng guy and when you hit the button it fix it, it takes an even worse guy. (i.e. A hit towards the hole and the 3rd baseman is selected, I hit the button to switch to the SS and instead I get the LF and the ball rolls harmlessly by the ss.)

                  3. If you sim a game, for some reason the cpu will take your pitcher out in the 3rd inning when he hasn't even allow a run yet. I once had a pitcher pulled after one perfect inning. Don't worry though because the cpu doesn't know how to score anyway so as long as your pitcher came out while you were leading he'll get the W. I had a pitcher today get a win for pitching 3.1 innings.

                  4. On the subject of pitchers, there seems to be a bug where if you put a pitcher in cold without warming him up, his stamina will INCREASE as the game continues., Found that bug today when I accidentally put a pitcher in I just started to warm up instead of the already warmed pitcher.

                  5. I also seem to be getting a problem where if a line drive is hit near an infielder but makes it to the outfield my runners will freeze even if it falls for a hit. I have been thrown out a couple of times on a force play from the outfield because the cpu runners did not advance correctly and by the time I had them going they were out.

Those are the major gripes I have, and they are preventing me from enjoying the game, and it seems the more I play, the more I find. This is also above and beyond the dynasty mode progression problem and the power problem. So how can some of these reviewers not see these?? Are they ignoring them, or do they just not care?

So now I don't know what to do, I'll probably pick up ESPN because I loved last years and I can't imagine it got worse.

                      4. Badgun,

I give up. We aren't playing the same game.

Through 20 games in my Angels franchise:

                        Home Runs

                        Anderson: 6
                        Guerrero: 5
                        Glaus: 4
                        Guillen: 3
                        Salmon: 2
                        Erstad: 2
                        Kennedy: 2
                        Molina: 1

Ive also given up several bombs to lefties...
                        Weird.

By the way. I think WSB 2k3 is still one of the best baseball games ever made and I still own, and play it.

Finally Knight165 hijacked the thread by bringing up MVP 2004 flaws. Shall I refresh thy memory?

It might be fine for one game here and there, but for a franchise...quite frankly it BLOWS...big time.
