Call me crazy...but if the majority of reviewers rather play last year's version than this year's...doesn't that warrant lackluster reviews? Shawn in his beta impressions thread had both WSB and ESPNside by side, and he said fielding felt kinda off for this years game (even though it wasn't final build, it damn near was final build). I trust OS more than IGN or any other reviewer of a sports title, because that is what they focus on 100% of the time. People say they want impartial criticism, but what they really want to hear ( Badgun ), is that this game is better than all the rest....when it isn't.

Re: IGN Review---8.4
I just read the entire review. I played WSB last year (actually I played them all).
The reviewer says....is still one of the better baseball titles out there.....and that's not bad.
The big complaint was that it felt more like a roster update than a renewel. If he's right, then it appears you're getting last years game in a new box with new rosters.
I thought the review was fairly objective.Comment

No baseball game this year will be better than the rest. Everyone has different opinions on every game, and everyone likes a different type of game. Some people like MVP's style, some people like ASB's style, and others like ESPN. I for one have liked the WSB series in the recent years. And no, I'm not a Sega/VC fanboy as the kids around here like to say. I've played every baseball game out on the Xbox right now.
The point is, everyones opinion is different, there is going to be so many people liking MVP better than the other games, and vice versa. If you don't like ESPN, fine, but why hang around the forum and talk crap about it? Doesn't make sense..Comment

Re: IGN Review---8.4
I'm just reading it now, not done yet, but this sentence strikes me as a bit... weird:
"Any baseball fan knows that different players react differently to failure. Miguel Tejada, for example, will try and swing for the fences to atone for a previous at bat and will, in fact, try too hard to make up for a strikeout or double play ball."
Um. Is this really a fair expectation to see a videogame emulate player psychological traits? Maybe I'm just new, but how would anybody know what's going on in a player's head, no matter how big of a fan they are? Furthermore, don't coaches sign the batter to tell him what to do at the plate? Batter's don't swing for the fences unless coachy gives em the green light to do so.
But maybe I'm just not a fan.
