Re: There's no excuse for freezing by now Kush

If we google in quotation marks "dirty disc error", we find many people with this problem with all kinds of games. The SAME freezing problem on ALL genres in the gaming scene is too much of a coincidence to "blame the game" for. After all, not all of the people playing MLB2K5 have this freezing issue. If Kush was the problem, we would probably see around 90% of the people with the game roaring to the heavens.

This problem isn't going away, but the reason why people are not educated as to why this is happening to their Xbox, imo, is because the numbers of people affected are not large enough to open the complaint floodgates. I suppose this is why MS choses to just ignore it, and if a user complains, blame it something else, BUT, offer to fix the out of warranty unit for $90.

well, i respect your opinion, but i have to disagree. I am very educated on the subject and have seen these reports in about 5 other sport message boards (espnhockey.net. bbsc, the now defunct cybernhl, among others) all saying that it seems to happen frquently with games put out by Kush. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Also, it's even been mentioned in video game reviews as well from what i remember (not going to check every review for a link, but i'm sure you can find them).

Also, it's even been talked about by some members at Kush with regards to the nhl 2k5 series for both the ps2 and Xbox. Explain that to be an xbox hardware problem? Its a known fact that there are certain things in the game that will almost 90% of the time cause freezes (such as cpu mismanaging rosters and having incomplete lines, thus causing a freeze if you try to start a game in franchise) The only rememdy to prevent a freeze or lockup is to turn off trades and injuries if a user wants to completely avoid the possibility of a freeze. Now are you going to try to tell me THAT is an xbox related problem too?????

Here are some related freezing issues with another Kysh game

I fear that the problem here is that some people dismiss serious gaming flaws and just pull it out to be just another Xbox flaw. That is far from the case, and as i've said, i'm educated in this topic so fear not. Dirty disc error is not the same as a game freeze.

Yes, I did read the post before mine, you apparently did not read mine correctly. By the way, have any of you guys noticed that the games that you complain about locking up are most often games that use custom soundtracks? I bet if you turned that feature off you'd have less problems. I remember Nhl2k5 locked up a few times with custom soundtracks on (old Xbox). Sega Gt and Rallisport 1 were other games that I remember locking up with custom soundtracks on, but worked fine without(old xbox as well). And yes, ANY game freezing is unacceptable, but if your games don't freeze with soundtracks off then that is most likely a hardware problem. The game freezing during menu screens, management area and trades is obviously a programming flaw, no excuse for that, but Nhl seems to be the only game with that problem ( I haven't seen it myself, but heard about it enough I'm sure it happens).I don't claim to be an expert, just relating my personal experience. Maybe some of you don't use soundtracks to begin with, so I may be wrong about the problem.Hopefully Xbox2 is better designed. I remember I had to turn my launch playstation1 upside down at one point, bad hardeware is nothing new.

i dont use custom soundtracks on the nhl or the choops game at all, especially since i wasn't about to put a ton of songs into the nex Xbox after i had already done so on the old one for NFL2k5.

Like I said, I'm no expert. I just related my personal experience. I have yet to have a problem with any game freezing since I got a newer Xbox a year and half ago, and I've owned every VC sports game except College Hoops and played the hell out of them. I'm just lucky I guess.

If it is the game, (Kush) and not the hardware, then why is my game playing flawlessly without a hiccup since I replaced the drive? Why isn't the game freezing for everyone that owns it? Why are all the games that I had problems with giving me no problems whatsoever after I swapped drives? The answer, for me anyway, is obvious.

On another note... before I swapped my dvd drive out, MLB2K5 would pause and skip alot when going in and out of the replays, as well as between innings. I don't have that problem anymore as everything moves in a seamless fashion. It's the hardware people. But, believe what you will.

well, im finding a hard time understand what you are trying to say. So in other words, everyone else should believe what you believe because you yourself have a good experience. At the same time though, no one else should believe what they want to believe based on their own experiences?

if it's just the hardware, then why is it i haven't seen a change in performace since also doing the same as you? Why is it it still skips for me even with a different drive????????????????

Just becaue you have success with one way doesn't mean everyone else will have the same success. Again, you also can believe whatever it is you want to believe. Also, you haven't addressed the issues as to why people with ps2's also see the freezing in other Kush games. Care you address that one ?

quit crying and get a new xbox. every single game that comes out no matter who makes it, has people complaining about lock-ups. used to have the same problems. not anymore. got a new box a few months back. no lock-up EVER.
