Re: Are you guys still enjoying this game even with its warts?

For some reason I keep giving the game "another shot". Everythiing is great until the actual game starts. I've used many different slider setting and I've finally found ones that sort of work. And then the fun begins..

I haven't seen this many annoying little things since the first addition of FPS Baseball for the pc. The funny thing is that there are no "gamekillers".

I think this title is a freaking joke. It was clearly rushed and the "little warts" that you see all game long remind me of things that we haven't seen in 5 years.

1.A blooper over second that falls just over the second basemans glove bounces all the way to the wall for an inside the park home run! $#$&%^!!!!!!

2.Morgan saying in the 9th after I get a single to tie the game (my 9th hit as a team) "oh and he was just one out away from a no hitter".

3.The AI is also a joke. I've seen pitchers in absolute bunting situations not try to lay one down and then swing at a 3-0 pitch...on multiple occasions.

I think you get the idea. The list could go on and on.

I will not take the game back because it's a decent change of pace if I want an arcade title. However, the "this is their first title so it's not that bad for a first effort" is laughable. I'd be willing to bet that there are at least 25 people that peruse these forums that fix half these "warts" in one weekend.

All that being said...it could still be a showstopper next year....

I am still enjoying this game and have not experienced any of the roster bugs or stat problems that you guys have. I did see the pass ball thing, but once I adjusted that everything works fine. I adjust my pitching rotation and batting and I look at the depth chart. It seem that the depth chart is what the cpu uses before a game starts. I have never had any problems once I adjusted it one time. MAybe I'm in the minority, but I'm old school in my thinking that I don't adjust sliders until I see that there is really a problem. I am having a blast with this game.

I'm thinking about getting MVP at this point. I started a franchise a couple weeks ago as the Cubs and ran into a glitch where I would play a game, yet, on my schedule, it would say I haven't played it yet. So, someone told me that if you "sim without news" this won't happen. So, I started a new one and all was going fine, I was simming without news, and then yesterday the same damn glitch happens again. How could they make a game with so many glitches? Does MVP even have one?
              You stay classy, Operation Sports.

i have tried to get into this game but can't.the fielding is what really turns me off i have had the other baseball games from sega and the one thing i liked was that fielding was easy not so with this version. if they are going to keep this camera angle they need to put in assisted fielding.also take out the strike zone box also one button hitting .i like the k zone pitching in the game.
take 2 will need to improve this product for next year.

If you have an Xbox you should try which was mentioned in an earlier thread, about setting the display to widescreen through the Xbox dashboard, things become a lot easier to see and it isnt so zoomed in.

Personally I love some things about the game, and I think I will probably be happy playing it next season, but the oddities in the game are just too numerous for me to overlook in this season's version. MVP is not as good in some areas, but I like the fielding better, I love the hitter's eye, and the gameplay is just more fun to me. Add to that the fact that there aren't any statistical / passed ball / stuck on the same game in franchise problems and I just decided that was the game for me this season.

I don't think I could buy another 2k baseball game if this is what they do with the cursor. Its horrible just horrible!
This is my biggest problem. The cursor system this year is, like, the exact same thing as the true aim one. Even when I recognize where a pitch is going, I almost never get the cursor right where I want it since it's so..... it just doesn't feel smooth to me. And I can't hit without a cursor. Cursor hitting makes me feel like I'm in control. No cursor makes me feel like the outcome of every swing is totally up to what the game's programming decides, rather than my skill. For some reason, I have a hard time judging the pitches in this game, too. Especially high pitches. Is that just me? Blah.

They removed options from the hitting. You can't look at career stat leaders anymore. The lineup annoyances are still there. If anyone plays with injuries on, I don't know how you can stand it. Having the AI decide to call people up from the minors, completely redo your lineups & rotation, even when you have the option for all that turned OFF, is incredibly irritating. Happens at the start of every season, every injury, every trade.

World Series Baseball has always been my game & this year's version is the first one that hasn't enthralled me. The presentation really makes me wanna play, but the bottom line for me is the problem I have with the hitting system. If that's not fun, the game's not really fun.
