Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
I need to up my hitting - I'm still not very good.
I will say I almost found a good set for CPU hitting and my mistakes. I gave up a couple yard balls. I just struggle getting the pitch speed down
Overall though these are a great start. I like how it's playing for the most part.
I can at least tweak now to my liking. I may compare the settings to all-star regular to see the differences. I did up the CPU corner , strikes to like 5Comment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
Hey guys thought I would update you on a game I just played with the slider set I am using:
Seeing good variety with this slider set. Last game was Mets vs Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre.
Mets 9R 12H 2E
Blue Jays 5R 10H 2E
Martinez 7IP 5H 3ER 1BB 8k 0HBP 89P 61S 28B
Burnett 4IP 5H 5ER 5BB 3k 1HBP 71P 43S 28B
Total Pitches Thrown
Mets 116P 80S 36B
Blue Jays 146P 86S 60B
This ballgame was 5-3 Mets until the 8th when I added some much needed insurance runs. I also bumped the Total Control Pitching slider to 50 for this game because it was becoming to easy. Also only one homerun from each club which I like.

OK Everyone. I have updated the sliders with easier instructions on how to SET them. Please read the instructions carefully. ENJOYComment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
Not saying they don't have any effect in franchise. My point is that you have to keep editing new players every year...year after year, not to mention re-edit players again due to them improving and changing your edits. It just winds up being pointless.Steam: BahnzoComment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
Joe Im gonna have to try these. Currently I have the CPU hitting jacked down, but the total control pitching jacked up for difficulty. I'm seeing a disturbing trend every game. It seems the CPU's big sticks each homer once a game no matter what. I mean it's HR or nothing. Every game is turning into 8-7 with each team batting .300
I'm gonna go with your verbatim and see what happens. Thanks for your work!PSN: JISTIC_OS

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
IMO, you know you have the right setting when you can see a nice running catch in the gap AND a ball hit over the OF's head in the same game. Both happened to me last game (not in my favor) and I was excited to see some results.Comment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
First game results
Brewers-9 Braves(me)-0
The greatest thing so far are the individual battles with hitters. Glavine went 6 innings and threw 100 pitches and was down 6-0. Probably should have been 3 or 4 nothing , but I looked and had my OF reaction at 10 instead of 20. The Brewers had 13 hits of which 6(would have been 4 if I had the right OF Reaction setting) were extra base hits but, they did not hit any HR's!!! YES!!!!
I had to move the TC Pitching slider to 45 for a challenge and it worked. I really had to concentrate on location. That is what I'm looking for when I'm pitching. If you have no fear of the hitter your facing adjust the CPU batting settings.
Unfortunately, I only had 1 hit. The saga continues. I'm starting to get very frustrated with the weak a** ground balls and lazy fly balls. I have no idea what can be done as I've tried a lot of different mixes with Contact, Skill, and Power. The only thing I've found out so far, is that if I want hard hit gap shots, doubles down the line, and other hits of that type I need to jack the power way up. Unfortunately that leads to a ridiculous amount of HR's.
Accept for the Human hitting, these sliders are playing really well for me.Comment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
Just finished a very good game with these sliders. I was Cleveland hosting Baltimore.
Bal - 1 5 0
Cle - 2 6 0
The weather was listed as cold at Jacobs Field and the pitching matchup was Sabathia vs. Bedard, so I don't think this is unrealisitc at all. I put the batting camera on wide with zoom of 75, so the ball gets on you quick and I'm not used to it. Plus I was very impatient at the plate and therefore Bedard had 11 K's and 0 walks. However, I swung at many would be balls in the game. Sabathia had about 8 K's for me (total control pitching at 45) and 0 BB's, although I went 3-0 on a few hitters.
Overall no complaints about the hitting. A realistic amount of swing and misses, ground outs, and fly outs. Most hits were singles due to the good pitching, but there were some hard hit balls and a few gappers.
Fielding looked pretty good too. I might lower their IF reaction time a bit and increase mine, but overall, everything looked rather smooth.Comment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
I have also seen more than a few HRs by moving the L-stick down on low pitches. According to the half-arsed manual, that should 'influence' the hit to be a grounder, but thats just not what I'm seeing. Maybe everyone already knows this or maybe I'm crazy.Comment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
Just used these with a few minor tweaks. Won 3-1 as the Mets vs. the Nats. Santana pitched a complete game with 10 k's. No HR for either team. I did steall 8 bases though. 5 with Reyes, including 3rd twice, and one each with Wright, Beltran, and Castillo. Tried to steal home with Reyes in the 9th for fun but no dice.Comment

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory
Do you use classic or SS2? I use classic and I'm starting to think that its more like zone hitting than previously thought. For instance, if the CPU throws me a nasty breaking ball down & away and I just hit 'A', more often than not its a swing and miss. If I press 'A' and move the L-stick low & away, I'll often foul it off. I was able to poke a nice single to RF with Jason Bay to knock in a run on a 2-out 2-strike FB away by doing this...

There are times when I know I'm "on" a pitch and there is just no velocity to really any of the hits. The problem though, is when I'm sitting on an inside FB. If the FB comes in and I have the stick up left or right and I time it correctly it's a monster shot.
You're not crazy. I hit a ball out at Fenway last night with Youkilis where I was pressing down left on a low and inside pitch.Comment
