Re: Trinity's CLASSIC pitching/throwing AND batting Custom-A sliders
I gave these a try, had some settings that looked interesting. Played about 3 games, so more are needed.
I'm now thinking the high skill/low power is the way to go, and upping the human contact slider improves hitting. I honestly thought it would make hitting too easy, but I still get misses on swings that I time perfectly and it seems to allow me to again use the Batting Influence slider which I had previously turned off due to too many pop-ups and weak grounders. It seems the contact slider not only affects how easy it is to make contact, but the quality of the contact as well.
Baserunning set higher is also good, seeing much better plays at first on bobbled balls, and tougher to turn the double play.
Not sure I agree with the fielding settings, I think the reaction is too low. Sometimes players (even those with high anticipation) aren't moving after a hit until much too late which is allowing too many balls thru the infield and too many hits to fall in the outfield.
Striking out way too many AI when they are watching clear strikes. Maybe need to lower the strike settings?
Not enough balls. I'm pretty patient at the plate and in the games I played, I purposely used a #1, a #3 and a #5 pitcher for the AI, and they all threw about 75% strikes. I didn't walk but maybe 5 times total.
The fielding aggression has nothing to do with them snaring home runs as you mentioned, it determines them running into each other. I've gone to turning the outfield errors to 100, and it's really working well. In all the games I've played, they haven't dropped one easy fly ball, but they will occasionally drop the tougher catches including the wall climbs. I actually had them not only miss a wall climb last nite, but it bounced off into the crowd for a HR. Haven't seen that one yet!
I've incorporated some of the hitting and the baserunning into my own franchise sliders, and I have to say they've really improved the hitting by both sides. It's still too early to tell, but the last couple of games I've played have been pretty good hit-wise.Steam: BahnzoComment

Thanks alot for the feedback! Excellent idea as far as the outfield errors set at 100, cuz ur right... i've yet to see an error on them yet! I may bring down INF errors though, cuz I keep getting the AI or even myself throw the 1B off base on a easy should be groundout, that turns into a error and a reach on 1st for the batter...
I agree that the walks for me are too low.... I'm the opposite though when it cvomes to striking the AI out.. don't have enough for me, so this game I'm playing now I upped the AI take strike overall and strike behind up by 5, and I have 5K's now through 5 innings, so it helped. However.. its nice cuz the strikezone changes from one game to the next... my first game, I couldn't buy a strike if its just barely outside.. this game, the ump is callin strikes on pitches that are clearly balls.. getting a few K's from that...
I, myself am not striking out as much as I'd like to see.. I was thinking about lowering my contact down 3-5.. but with what ur saying about it.. I may lower it, but raise influence up 3-5 to compensate, and see what happens. Question... what slider effects the amount of Pop-ups?!? I'm tired of seeing so many in one game, like those hits that just go straight up in the air! wayyy too many.. Influence help this, by raising this or what??
I agree.. KINDA with the strike % being too high for the AI.. cuz I was having the problem of it being uner 60%, so I raised it to 12 for AI throw strike OVR and behind, which made it too high, so I lowered it back down to 10. I will keep track of what it is for my next few games, and post!
Going to try out your OF errors at 100 though.. sounds like a great Idea to try out!
As far as the reaction setting.. it may need to go up 2 or 3, but prolly no more.. too high, and you wil never see a groundball single! Now with these settings, I see 2-4 per game, even if the INF looks dumb standing there for a quick sec, just my preference that 2-4 is better than none, EVER... Thanks again man for the feedbackComment

Let me know what you experience with the OF errors at 100. Curious to see if other people will see what I'm getting with that setting.Steam: BahnzoComment

Re: Trinity's CLASSIC pitching/throwing AND batting Custom-A sliders
I don't use the classic throwing, just batting, so the errors settings were too low for me. I never threw off the base unless it was a mistake on my part, so I find it interesting that it works that way with classic throwing. I use 50 for the AI infield errors and was surprised that when using your (much) lowered settings I really didn't see much difference in the IF errors. Wierd.....Steam: BahnzoComment

FYI, I have the human contact at 75 and I'm getting a good variety of strikeout totals. Against Joba C. I struck out 12 times and the next game in my Cub franchise against Brandon Backe I had 2. The next franchise game against the Astros I struck out 7 times.
With regards to the CPU throwing balls, I have never had any problems with too many strikes and/or drawing walks with EVERYTHING set 0. The throw strike sliders should never be set to anything but 0.
Played three more games today with a tweaked version of these sliders and I'm still getting great results.
The only thing I think needs to be tweaked are the take pitch settings. It's really tough to get k's.
Here are my CPU hitting sliders:
90S-35C-12P
Great results.Last edited by therizing02; 03-20-2008, 10:20 PM.Comment

Re: Trinity's CLASSIC pitching/throwing AND batting Custom-A sliders
Do you mean Human and AI? Yeah I am playing right now with both Outfield Errors set to 100.
Have to respectfully disagree there. I played a bunch of games with them at 0 and found there were way too many passed balls and hit batters, especially with the lesser skilled pitchers. I had to turn off the ejections due to starting pitchers getting tossed with regularity.Steam: BahnzoComment

Bahnzo, do you have CPU and AI outfield errors at 100?

90S-35C-12P
Great results.
Good idea to set throw strikes all to 0.. going to change those for sure as I can draw a walk for nothing...
I was messin with the sliders the last 3 games, and have gotten great results! I'll post changes on the first page.. and I believe its going to be final update this time.. Human contact.. I did bring down, and I was going to go with 72.. I was getting struck out a good # of times at 65.. so I'm thinking 72 would be good.
OF errors at 10... I tried this the last game I played.. and it wasn't bad at all! Only thing that happened was Taveras my CF bobbled a ball when picking it up, which caused a double to become a triple.
I upped the take pitch settings, and have got good results so far.. in 2 games I got 7K's with Carmona in 8 innings.. and 12 K's!! with Francis from Colorado in 8 innings.. then 4 K's with Fuentes from the pin in 4 innings.. yes.. game went extra.. quit at the 13th, got bored! box score was COL- 1 6 0 and MIL- 1 2 0
kinda worried about cpu hitting now... need to play another game or 2 with these to see what happens.
Other game stats...
CLE 2 7 2 No HR's
CWS 4 11 1
CLE 3 10 0
CWS 2 7 2
1 HR in 9th by J. Dye. Most exciting game played yet!! I ended up with a walk-off single with A. Cabrera
Carmona-7K's Contreras-2K's(before I made adjustment on my human contact... just hopefully its a variety of how many times per game, so I'm not low on hits every game.)
COL 1 6 0
MIL 1 2 0
BORING!!!! quit in the 13th inning 1 HR by Holliday.. 12 K's by Francis.. made contact lower during mid game, and since 8th inning... i struck out 6 times but like i said that was going between 65-75.. 72 is where I'll stick.Comment

Re: Trinity's CLASSIC pitching/throwing AND batting Custom-A sliders
bro love these sliders...been playin' all day...i dont know why ppl are complaining that they cannot strike out the Ai...i was Harang on the Reds and had 9ks in 7.2 innings...then next game i pitched with Wang for the Yanks n had 2 k's but that is normal cuz wang is not a strikeout pitcher...and Holladay had 7ks against me in 7 innings ...i love how the good pitchers are hard to hit but once u get down in the rotation it becomes easier to hit ..aka not every game is a pitching duel...glooks man this game is now the best baseball game i have ever playedComment

Thanks bro! I am pretty sure the last edit on the sliders are going to be the last... only thing Im worried about is AI throw strikes set at 0. Need to see how that plays out, other than that, they are great!Comment

Re: Trinity's CLASSIC pitching/throwing AND batting Custom-A sliders
Just finished my first inning with these sliders and Brendan Harris led off the inning with a HR and Morneau jacked one as well
Am I just lucky, or are these sliders HR happy?
EDIT: In the 3rd now, Cuddyer just hit one...
Also, I can't get a strikeout to save my life. I have had almost every batter down 0-2 but no matter what or where I throw my pitches, they seem to connect on every type of pitch in every location. I am using classic button pitching if that matters.Last edited by baumy300; 03-21-2008, 10:07 AM.I post the frog

I'd say either luck or bad location in ur pitches. I'm not sure why ur not able to get K's, I use classic pitching too.. I do however, ALWAYS throw the catcher's suggested pitch type/location. They are def. NOT HR happy sliders though! Who are you pitching with? If you're having that much trouble throwing K's tune the AiI take strikes or something.. Use these as a base to start with and tweak from there....
I would recommend playing 5-6 games first and keep track of stats before you change anything majorComment
