What sliders affect the CPU pitchers being able to pick the corners everytime? It seems all they do is hit corner after corner without throwing too many balls.

I have only had low scoring games so far except for last night when I played Houston vs. Cubs(Me). I was getting beat 16-0 because Zambrano just got absolutely rocked. Now grant it after I was down 7-0 I just decided to screw around and not think about where I was pitching the ball.

The problem I had with that game though was every ball I made contact with was a slow ground ball a high popup in the short infield or a high fly ball to the outfield. Not one ball I hit was well hit. Also take into effect that I was using the Cubs who are a pretty good hitting and powerful team.

WORD! I cant hit either...but will give it a few more games before maybe bumping up contact? I mean you really cant go wrong with power at 90 I would not think.

I agree that the user hitting is very weak for some reason. I am using Success at 65, contact at 20 and power at 100 and am seeing better results, but may need to knock it up more. That's just me though.

Not to sound like a broken record, but I think User Batting Pitch Influence is the slider that will help you the most on getting better quality hits. Lowering the slider should improve your contact on pitches where your timing or placement is just a little off.

I also think the AI got a lot better at painting the corners and picking good spots with the last patch. I am working on my patience at the plate and I am starting to get a good many walks. But a low and outside pitch on the corner is still a low and outside pitch on the corner. If the AI can hit that spot over and over again quality hits are hard to come by.

I think it is going to be a balance between getting the number of perfect AI pitches to a reasonable level and giving user hits a chance to make decent(not always and not great) contact on good pitches.

I really think the patch sets up the potential for some great games with some slider work. If we can get pitch quality/location to really mean something with a realistic ratio of good pitches vs mistake pitches then you can ramp up the Batting Pitch Influence slider. It would add a lot more depth to the idea of waiting for your pitch.

I am actually very good at taking pitches. I was actually very surprised with myself because in past MLB games I swung at every pitch. Before the patch when pitchers were able to hit the outside corner I was still able to hit that pitch because I knew they were going to pitch there. Since this 2nd patch however I am still guessing correctly where the pitch is going but I can no longer get any hits because the balls are hit so weakly and I'm not sure why.

Guys I can't stress this enough, play @ least 10-15 games with these before you start changing stuff around.

Trust me your games will vary. Last Night I started my Franchise as the Yankees.

Lost 8-7. Stats seem good. I had I believe 12 hits & the O's had 17. I walked a couple of times & struck the CPU out about 6 times.

As for the CPU painting corners. Bump the Strike Zone Slider up some.(30-50) Also try zalf's suggestion of lowering the Bat/Pitch Influence Slider(50-60)

I think you are guessing correctly but the game is saying a hit pitch in X location equals a weak hit 90% of the time regardless of what you are guessing or where you are swinging. The calculation is weighted more heavily towards the pitch location after the patch. Lowering the batting pitch influence slider one notch seemed to re-balance that calculation for me.

hmm anyone know for sure what AI Pitch Success does? I had it at zero teting it out and remember the pitcher throwing pitches all over the zone but mostly balls.. SO maybe finding the right slider for this is where the problem lies with pitcher always painting corners..

                      Just a thought

so when you say one notch you mean from 75 down to 70, while keeping the 50/10/90 still the same?

My numbers are a little different after starting with one of Joe's early pre-patch sets and working with them over a ton of games played.

Pre-patch I had a set that I was happy with my hitting for power. Post patch with the same set I had no power at all like many here. The only adjustment I made was a one notch drop(ie 75 to 70) of the User Batting Pitch Influence slider. This one change brought my hitting back to where it was pre-patch. Went from post patch 10+ game with 0 HRs and nothing but weak hits even using the L-Stick to a 0-4 HR per game variety with a lot of balls hit hard with and without the L-Stick.

I am pretty sure my power number is a good bit lower than what Joe's set is using now because he made some pretty big changes there to get the power back. So if you went way up on the power slider and make changes to this slider I think you will have to back the power slider down or see some big HR numbers.

ANy suggestion for someone like me who does not and will not use hit direction influnece. Have my success at 50 with power at 100 and using the Mets i hit 0 homeruns a game. Thinking about changing the success to 70 and power to 70, might even it all out?
ANyone out there play like i do and have good setting for getting power hits without touching the left stick?

also my user pitch is at 75, should be brining that down to a 60 or so, you may have stumbled on to somthing nice here, thanks
