"OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders

Alright, I was gonna wait until 2k put out the ONLINE PDF Manual for the game to get a better sense of how the NEW Sliders affect the game & how do they interact with each other but found-out from Ron @ 2k yesterday that he doesn't think they are gonna put out a PDF Manual for this game. WTH...

I pm'd Simballer & he's not sure either as he has moved back to the NBA Series. I've had the game since Friday & have basically played it non-stop. I think the set I've used for the last 2 days have resulted in some really great games.

People have been asking & messaging me about sliders, so here are a "Spring Training" Set for people to use. Hopefully 2K will put out an Online PDF Manual with descriptions of how the sliders affect game play. Once that happens I will either update this thread or create a whole new thread..

Of course feedback is always a plus... I will update this post with my Presentation Sliders & my Camera Settings once I get home from work... I also will upload these to 2k share when I get home also

ENJOY... in my worst umpire's voice *PLAY BALL*

FYI: Please begin to set these from the Legend Setting & use the Inside Edge Feature when Pitching

Thank you Joe! Looking forward to trying these

Ron said he was going to try to get the devs to post some slider explanations on the forum, so let's hope so.

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders

I think a good place to start (as far as the 2k9 community is concerned) is a little bit of discussion on why we are changing each slider. If there isn't a PDF released it's gonna be up to us to provide feedback on every slider we change to see what it does.

My first game (just finished Braves v Reds) was a 1-0 nail biter until the 7th inning when i got 3 runs (1 being a solo shot by McCann). Main problems I saw were:

A) Kelly Johnson (2B) made a play on a grounder that was about where the shortstop would be set up for a double play situation.

Haven't looked at the sliders yet but from what I've heard it is all in the player stats this year as far as fielding anticipation/range correct?

B) Outfielders have a range that is a bit over what it would be in real life. That will need a bit of adjustment to get a few more gap shots in.

So, I'm gonna try out these sliders and I'll post back with some more impressions on anything I see different.

Starting a game right now. Will report back.

The only thing is that Unlocking trading cards is now disabled with these sliders. Small sacrifice i guess

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders

I must say, very good game. Their pitching was not as easy to hit (which it usually is). I lost 1-0 but did manage 9 hits. I just didnt capitalize on my opportunites. Lot of double plays and diving catches by the computer. the computer actaully didnt hit any HRs which was very nice. They also swung a lot as usual, but did miss more.

So, detailed analysis.

Padres vs Cards (me)
Peavy vs Wainwright

Computer (pads) 1R 4H 0E
Me (Cards) 0R 9H 2E

Peavy 9 IP 2 Ks (68 pitches)
Wainwright 7 ip 3 ks. (rest of team 0ks) 63 pitches for the total game

1 of the 2 errors i had was bogus. One of those plays where the 1b player's foot comes off the bag early on a good throw.

all 4 of their hits were singles. 7 on mine were singles and 2 were doubles.

Everything really did look good though. I think the only way to adjust the aggressiveness of the computer is with a patch. And hopefully that happens

Game 2: Braves(me) vs. Cubs(CPU)

Won't go into specific stats just give kind of a recap cause I wanna keep playing.

Went up 2-0 by the 5th inning with 2 sac fly RBI's. Cubs tied it up on a Soriano 2-run shot. I went up 4-2 on a triple by Gregor Blanco in the 7th (scored 2).

Brought in Rafael Soriano, which just like real life, decided to give up a couple of runs before getting out of the jam (I should of pulled em after the first 2 hits).

Game went into extra innings; Manny Acosta pitched 3 LIGHTS OUT innings with 4K's 0ER and only 1 hit. Bottom of the 12th: Chipper Jones leading off smacks a walk-off solo homerun on a hanging curve.

Total hit count was 15 for each team. 4K's total against me and 6K's total for me.

Alright, I'm home from work. Will jump-on after dinner. As for the Hitting Sliders I was going off the top of my head as I was @ work. I will check them & make the proper adjustments As I think I may be off in my numbers. I also will post Game Settings also. This is where the fatigue slider is @.

Also I would suggest people use the IE Feature when pitching as it is very good this year...

Are you going to put these on 2k share so I dont have to input them manually?

I'm seeing an average of 8-12 hits per game on both sides with the original hit sliders. What was the intent of the changes you made (ie. increasing cpu's batting difficult cause you were seeing too few hits/runs or what?).

I also like the pitcher fatigue change. I think 65 is gonna be perfect looking at what the default was giving me.

The change was due to the 1st # I posted was off the top of my head. When I got home, the # were what they are now.

K I'll try the new set and see what happens. Though I will tell you I was getting some pretty good hit variation/numbers with the original set.

I'd laugh if you stumbled on a good set of sliders on messing up what you remembered the sliders to be .

Welp back to the game
