What's funny is last night I was throwing a cutter low and away and they were taking that one pitch all night. I mean it was a called strike about 80% of the time.

The problem is that even when well ahead on 0-2, 1-2 counts they swing at everything.

I also have a hard time getting them to swing and miss a fastball. Breaking stuff is easier.

Well, I PM'd Joe, but I am sure he is up to his ears in PM's so I am throwing this out there.

Last night I played a game aginst the A's and I was the RedSox. After the game, I edited everyone of the A's players by adding 20 points to their "Walk Tendency" attributes. Then I fired up another game. Interestingly enough, when I called up the Inside Edge for the batters, their BB score did not match up with the edits I had done. Mark ellis had a 92 score for working the walk, but his IE grade for walks was a D- Now, I am thinking that a 92 typically does not award you a D- score, so... Should I decide to edit all the players and add a certain % to their ability to work a walk, in an attempt to get them to be a little more patient at the plate, should I make the IE Influence slider a "0" so that it goes by my edited attributes versus what the guy who programmed the IE has it set for?

Can I thereby override the IE tendencies with my Roster edits to the players?

            Thoughts?

Just picked up the game yesterday and I did not have access to the boards. I played a couple games and did notice that the sliders do make a difference. I played a game with TB vs NY and combined for 30 hits on default sliders. I got the hitting almost perfect but I cant stand the lack of pitches ( no strike outs, no walks) the most strikeouts I have had in a game is 1. I haven't even been able to work a count to full yet as a batter. I have tried to turn the pitch success and the other slider for pitching down to 0 but nothing effects it. I think it is linked to the IE slider. I am going to try these sliders and see what happens.

I did notice a huge difference between Wakefield's effort and Becketts. Beckett struck out 11 A's and got the player of the game. While they do have the speed for Wake's knuckleball totally wrong, he only had 3 strikeouts, so obviously, the Tendencies based on Attributes are helping the premium players get more realistic results to their real-life counterpart. 3 of Beck's Ks were backwards... A step in the right direction, but still in need of tweaking.

Can the Living Roster guy from 2k help us out by increasing the players' Walk Tendencies? I mean, whent he next update comes out, is that something they can work on with regards to the update itself? Seems like a wholesale change towards the patience of the hitters could be adjusted without having to actually make a whole new slider for it. Is it even possible?

OK, I went back to the original Hitting Sliders, but changed a couple of things.

                    1. I bumped the Batting Pitch Influence back to 100. This should stop the user from making good contact on bad pitches all the time

                    2. I also made some changes to the AI Pitching Slider. I bumped the Pitch Success Slider to 75. This will make the Pitcher/Batter battles more interesting (More foul balls now)

I also bumped the Strike Zone Slider to 35 & Pitch Zone to 65 You can still work the count, but the AI will nibble more again making the Batter/Pitcher duel more interesting.

                    3. I also lowered the Pitch Fatigue Slider to 50. Saw the AI getting tired too fast due to taking pitches & working the count, then being pulled by the 4/5 inning.

                    4. Errors are now 0

I will upload these to 2k share as Spring Training V.2

                    Enjoy...

Joe thanks for the work. Are you still seeing a realistic amount of balls pitched with your AI pitching sliders? You're orginal ones seemed to be pretty good. Did the Living Roster update have that big of an effect?

                      Thanks

The pitch counts are still there, but now there not only based on balls V strikes but also on foul balls. I am seeing a lot more foul balls than I did before. Also if for some reason you feel the AI is throwing too many strikes you can always lower the strike zone slider

Thanks, another thing, do you really think it matters whether you use classic pitching or total control in terms of getting the AI to take more pitches or get more Ks?

I've seen some claim this, but my question is how the heck does the AI know which setup we are using lol?

                          Thanks

this is not to kiss a## but over the years i have grown to be a loyal follower of your sliders and comments and today is exactly why. just last week, bfnjoe, you wrote how it would take a month or so of playing until you attempted sliders..only 40 hours since the release we have something to work with as we get ready for the real season. Nice job, and thank you.

Yea, I'm definitely reverting to the original batting sliders as you are joe. I just went into a 13 inning game where each team was held to 1 hit before I decided to quit. I didn't wanna go through another 19 inning ordeal that ends in a glitch like last time lol.

I'll be back later tonight to try out the originals again n post some stats.
