If your still having some problems bump the Power Slider up 1 notch. The same thing goes for the CPU up Contact & Power 1 notch.

As for Fatigue. I had it set ! 65 but the CPU was pulling their starters by the 5th inning, especially if I worked the pitcher's count some. Right now I set it back to 50. I may move-it to 55 but IMO that's about as high as I'll probably go.

I'm glad to see that moving the AI Strike Zone back to 10 is getting the AI to throw more balls again. Also glad to hear that people are seeing more foul balls also. I saw 1 walk in my last game, but could of had 2-3 more but I'm more of a hacker.

Anyone else seeing some walks? & if so are they about the same before I move the AI Pitch Success from 25 to 75
For the first couple of days I had all of the AI Pitching sliders at 0 and I was drawing a few walks per game and thought the balls/strikes ratio was fairly accurate.

I then downloaded your latest sliders and started a couple of games. I think the Pitch Success slider has a the most influence over the control of the CPU. With it at 75, Scott Kazmir painted corners for 8.1 innings against Anaheim and I think I got to 3 balls just once and I'm not a hacker. I have the pitch speed set at 50 so it's easier to tell what's a ball and what's a strike.

Then I lowered it back to 0 and the CPU (Mark Buehrle vs. CLE) started throwing a more realistic amount of pitches out of the strike zone.

Additionally, I think the pitch speed has a huge effect on balls put into play. I started a game as the Jays in NY against the Yankees with the pitch speed at 75. After the first inning, the Yankees led 5-3 and every ball hit was a rocket. I lowered the pitch speed back to 50 and the velocity of the hits was much more realistic.

You have to throw pitches for balls, and a lot of times, especially with 2 strikes on them, they will chase that fastball chin-high for the strikeout.

Mix the pitches balls and strikes. Be a pitcher. They throw pitches for balls on purpose for a reason.

Solid post. Your sig also speaks to what's going on here. I know it's not something that we have out of the box, but guys like BigJoe are making it worthwhile.

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders

Well... I loaded up BFJ's latest rendition of sliders last night, and took the field as the RedSox against the Braves. An Interleague matchup with D. Lowe going against his old team, and Smoltz taking the hill against the squad who dropped him in the off season.

20 innings later, the Braves get a single with a man at second to score in the top of the 20th, and the Boston bats cannot get it going and they lose 5-4.

            Couple of things:

No defensive errors or issues at all in a 20 inning game. No firstbaseman issues, and no outfielder misplays, Jason Bay made a sweet sliding catch with the X button, but other than that, no errors from either team in a 20 inning game. I need to fix that I think.

1 homerun and that was by the Braves. Jeff Francour hit one out in the second inning. Over the Monster. I am cool with that. The RedSox could not get one over the fence. I am not cool with that.

Overall, great game, and between the two teams there were 33 hits in the 20 inning game.

Joe, will you do me a favor and sometime today, take your squad to the Practice Mode with the Slider set from page one, and see how many homeruns you can hit? I am using the R-stick for hitting, no Hitters Eye, and I spent a good hour and a half after the 20 inning game trying to see if ANY of the guys on my team (RedSox) could hit one out at the practice field. NONE of them could. Not even with the L-stick jacked towards the Monster, Lowell, Bay, Baldelli, Youk, Petey... NOBODY got one out. Even Ortiz with a perfect swing could only muster his best shots to the warning track. And the interesting thing was that Ortiz's flyballs landed within 2 -3 feet of each other if I kept the L-stick pointed to 2o'clock. I haven't seen anyone go dead center with a homerun, and I am not sure what the issue is.

I am certainly more than okay with the Homeruns only coming when you make perfect contact, and even then, I want to earn it based on the timing and the swing. But, after an hour at the practice mode, and not one guy can hit a homerun on meaty delicious fastballs down the middle.... something is amiss.

            thoughts?

One of my biggest problems I was having with the game was the AI throwing me 80-85% in the strike zone. I really didn't see anything else. After I made these adjustments I started seeing more balls thrown.

                So once again, thank you.

These have made this game excellent in my opinion. Sure the game has its issues, but these are solid Joe. Good job man!!! Keep it coming!!

If 2K patches a few of the minor things, this game has great potential.

                        Hi everybody,

Just a couple of technical questions that I need assistance on...

                        1. As I understand it, these are post-patch settings...so when I booted the game up for the first time, did it automatically download the patch, or do I need to go somewhere to download?

                        2. After I download the spring training v2 sliders, do I need to turn off the auto-roster updates feature? Will having it on compromise the sliders as the season progresses?

                        3. Are these sliders good for any difficulty setting? (rookie, pro, all-pro, etc...) or are the specific for one difficulty level.

Just some clarification on a few details....thanks for your help.

1.) When you first started the game, it should've told you there was an update available and asked if you wanted it. Then when you select yes, it will show it downloading and then restart the game when it's done.

2.) No, you don't need to turn off living rosters. These sliders don't affect the roster, only the difficulty settings.

3.) These sliders are a custom difficulty setting that tries to make the game as realistic as possible.

I had the same problem. I played a game with these sliders using the Angels, and couldn't muster any power at all. So I went to the practice filed with Vlad and hit for 15-20 minutes without ever getting a ball to the warning track. It could be that I really suck, but even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. Other than the lack of power, these sliders gave me a pretty good game.
