Is it easy for you guys to draw walks? I rarely draw any walks and I was wondering how people do it?

yeah just finished a game and I unlocked a few too...as for walks I go up swinging..not so patient at the plate. How about stealing bases? I keep getting thrown out.

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders

So I have a franchise going with the Atlanta Braves.

I am NOT seeing enough offense with these sliders (using the V3 FINAL spring training sliders) from EITHER side.

I am fairly patient at the plate, i get a couple walks each game though I only throw maybe 1 walk a game tops. I see WAY too may liners hit right at infielders.

Granted I'm not the best at running the bases so I miss runs here and there due to that, but my last few games have been total pitchers duels. Lowe threw a complete game shutout, 7ks, 3 hits against the pirates (yeah i know, pirates suck). Game before that glavine threw a complete game 1 run 7hits given up.

What do I need to tweak in order to get more run production from both sides? Do I need to be holding up on the left stick (hit influence stick) to see less liners? I typically only do that with Frenchy Chipper and McCann the more power guys.

What slider tweaks should I make to up the offense?

Strikeouts are about where they need to be for both sides, though I could strike out a little more often but not much, I have pretty good plate discipline.

Is it just because I'm playing with the Braves? They have a better than average pitching staff but not the greatest offense. Mostly line drive hitters (lol).

          Suggestions welcome. BFJ? Anyone?

          Thanks,

Haveing to use the left stick with power hitters is the stupidest addition this year. How bout just swinging and if its good contact they hit it out, so unreal that this year you have to TRY to hit a homerun, 2k just continues to drop the ball

I have set the Hit Direction Influence slider to 0 and I get a realistic amount of HR just using the R Stick. My user batting sliders are...

              Batting Success: 45
              Batter Contact: 5
              Batter Power: 65
              Pitcher Handedness Influence: 100
Inside Edge Batter Zone Influence: 100
              Batting Pitch Influence: 75
              Batter’s Eye Influence: 0
              Hit Direction Influence: 0
              Zone Hitting Influence: 0
              Bunt Contact: 0
              Bunt Success: 0

and my AI Pitching sliders are from the SFGiantsPBA slider set...

              AI Pitch Success: 0
              AI Pitch Selection Tendency: 100
              AI Strike Zone Tendency: 0
              AI Pitch Zone Tendency: 0
              AI Pitcher Composure Influence: 75

The left sick isn't what hits the homeruns...it just makes the player emphasize on hitting the ball in the air that's all.

You have an issue with having to TRY to hit a homerun?

Anyway, some friends and I are using these sliders with some tweaks for online and we are having excellent matchups. I agree that you shouldn't have to adjust so much out of the box, but I never enjoyed a baseball game online like I am with this one.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

definitely off topic, but since I am new to this forum, unsure where to post this, so if you can please help me.

Into my second game of the season I was expecting to see the season stats of my players show as they walked up to the plate...instead the game still shows last seasons stats instead. I am sure this is a simple fix, but if you could please tell me why this is happening?

                    Thanks

Players have to have a certain amount of AB's (around 10 maybe) to show current season stats. Just be patient and it will happen.

sorry if this has been solved already but...how do you get the AI to stop swinging at the first pitch all the time, im having 3 pitch innings sometimes and almost no strike outs in games...

There really is no way right now. The best thing you can do is try to nibble the corners of the zone and try to get them to chase out of the zone, but even then the AI is still too aggressive. Only 2K can fix this. Sliders aren't going to get rid of the AI being too swing happy.

Tried these sliders out and here are the results:

                            NYY vs. TEX

                            NYY | 9 | 18 | 0
                            TEX | 1 | 6 | 1

                            WP- Phil Hughes 6.0, 4 hits, 1 ER, 5 K (1 looking)
                            LP- Eric Hurley 3.0 IP, 4 hits, 3 ER, 1 K, 1 HR

                            NYY | TEX

                            AB - 46 | 31
                            BA - .391 |.193
                            Singles - 10 | 4
                            Doubles - 4 | 1
                            Triples - 0 | 1
                            HR - 4 | 0
                            BB - 1 | 0
                            K - 5 | 5

                            Overall Pitch Count - 72 | 120
                            Strikes - 55 | 84
                            Strike % - .763 | .700

I scored in the 2nd on a Nady long ball to start the scoring. The third inning I went on a scoring spree with two outs. First, Damon singles and the Jeter doubles to bring Damon home. Teixeira doubles to bring Jeter home. From there I either hit a HR or I hit doubles to bring guys home, so it varied.

I will chalk up this one to poor Texas pitching rather than me being good at the dish. I just wish they hit a little better as Hamilton and Kinsler only had one hit each and it came with two outs each time.

jkra0512, if you continue to rake AI pitching bump the AI Pitch Success Slider up to 75 7 see how that works
