I'm using the v3.5 sliders. Had some great games. I did lower the AI strike zone tendency to 0, wasn't seeing enough walks, might go back up to 5 as I saw 6 walks in the game after I did that. We'll see.

bigfnjoe,
Just recently played a game, with your first set of sliders (between the two). It was nice, but my offense was nowhere. I managed one hit with the Padres, and gave up 6 runs on 12 hits on the Dodgers.
BUT! I did tweak some of the power, because of past experiences. I've play myself with 75 power, and hit around 6 homers in a single game and scored 19 runs. Don't want to imagine the AI's success with that. I dropped the AI's to 60 and myself to 55. The rest of the batting attributes were left alone. I did give up a solo homer, which was nice to see.
Since I had bad offense, I might raise my success to 50. I've also raised my power to 60 and the AI's to 65 for the next game. Hopefully the results will work.
Also I might lower the strikezone tendency to 5 also, same as what Blazzen has done.
Just want to say incredible work on the sliders, considering the game is still a bit screwed up at the uno momento.Comment

Yeah I have some that work for me now.
Only changes I make is lower pitch speed to 65 and AI pitching in strike zone to 5.

But much improvement from the last game, just couldn't score because of my horrible base-running. Ha!Comment

Do people feel the AI is lacking in the Power Dept? I've only seen 1 HR in 3 games & I think it has to do with the Contact Slider being @ 0. I was seeing more HR's from the CPU when the Contact Slider was higher.
I will fool around tonight with the Contact/Power Sliders. IMO the AI Hitting Success Slider is fine @ 60/65Comment

I have noticed plenty of power, but typically on a sub-par pitch. If you have a pitcher that can work the zone and hit his spots all game long, you will get them to ground out or hit weak fly balls...
If your pitcher is struggling with his spots, and making bad pitches due to his composure, they tend to hit those mistakes a long way....
Hey wait a minute....

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
Joe, I recently played a good 10 inning game againt the Yankees, me being the marlins. I won 4-2 on an Uggla walk off HR, and the box score was: NYY 2-12-1 | FLO 4-11-5 . It seems like the CPU gets plenty of hits, but rarely can hit a ball far into the outfield. I have CPU power on 70, and I'm afraid to raise it any higher as it may lead to unrealistic results. I do have Batter Contact on for CPU at 15, and I'm wondering, If I raise this will it increase the CPU power, or just lead to more single base hits?Comment

I haven't seen a HR in about 4-5 games neither from the CPU or myselfComment

This is consistent with every slider set I use.
Either bottled gameplay or unrealistically too much offense. It isn't Joe's sliders or SFGiants slidesr or this set or that set that are bad... it is the GAME! IT IS BROKEN! Why are people doubting this? It isn't sim baseball.Comment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
Just had a crazy game with your second of the two v3.5 sliders. It was Braves (me) vs. Mets. The Reds ate me alive early with hits, but they were mostly singles and resulted in 0 runs (although they narrowly missed a few HR's). I was able to get a few good innings in from 3-5, and left with a 1-run lead.
Then in the 7th, Hairston Jr. crushed one to left to tie it up at 1-1. After blowing most of my bullpen (who seemed much better than their "overall" numbers indicated), I was poised to take the game in the 11th. With two outs, I had a man on third and they walked Chipper to get to Garret Anderson. I took one pitch, then blasted a 2-seam fastball that was low and down the middle. The line-drive pummeled the pitcher in the back, but the third baseman reacted in time to pick up the deflected ball and get it to first in time to save the game.
Then, top of the 13th, Jay Bruce unloads on a 1-2 pitch up and in that was mis-located for a HR to take the lead. To the bottom of the 13th, 2 quick outs, and Yunel Escobar comes to the plate. He swings at the first pitch and it is a low line drive between the 3b and ss--base hit. Crowd on its feet. They decide to pitch to Chipper rather than put a runner in scoring position. It would be a decision they would regret. After throwing way up and outside for the first pitch, the commentators remarked that it could be a setup pitch. Chipper keyed in and prepared for a fastball inside, and that's just what he got. He demolishes a walk-off HR to win it, about 30 feet past the spot where Bruce's landed.
Reds 2-15-0
Braves 3-13-0
Awesome game, thanks for the slidersLast edited by teambayern; 03-16-2009, 11:29 PM.GT: Teambayern5

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
What should I adjust if I strike out at a realistic rate, but hit too many singles and not enough doubles and homeruns?
I get a lot of 3 or 4 run games with 11, 12 hits. I have a hard time figuring out exactly what each slider does, including CPU pitching sliders such as "Pitch Success."
Have we gotten (or created) a slider primer yet?Comment

AI Success 60
AI Contact 15
AI Power 65.
I also lowered the recommended User pticher settings, break influence etc.
I just played the Marlins the final score was 8-5
I had 3 HR's and 16 hits.
They had 5 runs - 2 HR's on 12 hits.
I'm seeing a lot of Offense by both right now.Comment
